Title: splittin boo
Post by: chessieboy on July 02, 2008, 01:57:58 pm
I just cut some boo to be used for backing.  Its not that large in diameter but I hope I can use it for some narrow d bows.  Should I split it now or should I wait until it dries some?

I've heard of doing i either way. I split in half the last stuff I got and let it dry that way. If you leave it in the round, it may split as it dries but that shouldn't hurt anything. That is where you can continue the split.       Pat

Bamboo can tend to curl if split while green but will also form craks sometimes drying whole like Pat said. That isn't a problem if it's clean and you can use any portion, but if it has bad spots in it I would split while green and tie it down for drying so it dosen't curl to bad.
