Just thought I would share my first laminated bow with you folks. I built this one 10 years ago, while I lived in Virginia. It's a hickory backed zebra straight longbow. I gave it to my best friend, who lives in Michigan. I gave him my first knife last year. I didn't have a photo of either, and he recently sent me some to save in my album. He plans to take a deer with it this year!

I like them both! The zebrawood has such a nice grain. What did you finish it with?
-
Looks great man really like the knife what type of wood for the scales?
-
I think it was Flecto Varethane that I used on those first few bows. The knife scales are lacewood.
-
How is Zebra wood for compression ? Looks pretty.
-
I don't think I could spell "compression" back then! :) I remember guys on the then new "leatherwall" telling me that zebra would probably fail, so probably not very good. I pulled this one off, and it's still shooting. I think I layed it up on my work bench and it has about 1" of set after shooting for 10 years. Maybe this piece was better than average.

Nice combo! Ten years and still shootin - has it taken a pig yet?
-
He hasn't seen a pig in Michigan yet. He has seen the rooting damage, just no hog standing in the sign. He will be coming down here to Ga this year for me to put him on one.
