Title: tried new thing.
Post by: recurve shooter on July 09, 2008, 05:36:27 pm
hi. i just started messing around with some brier that i cut originally for arrows, but quickly found out that was a lost cause. i dont know the name of it, but it is the kind of brier that blackberries grow on. anyway, i beat it with a baseball bat  >:D and stripped the outside fibers away form the spongey stuff in the center, and its pretty tough. jist be sure to use a green brier that you let dry for a few days. i could only get like 6 inch strips off, but it was my first time trying it. jist figured yall might be interested.

It is called a blackberry brier! ;D ;)   The Cherokees would strip the canes into narrow strips and make baskets with blackberry canes. I have some collected and dry but haven't done anything with it yet.      Pat
