i took yall's advice for my redoak board bows. i made another one this weekend. it is the full 72 inches. an inch and a half at the handle, half inch at the tips. finished with toung oil, drawing 55 at 28. still took about 3 inches of set though. ??? anyway, thanx for the help guys.

Thats what my first one did. It was due to overstressing during tillerring. If your making a 55# bow dont strain it to 60# or it will take unnecessary set. Also If you are making board bows i get a 1x3x6 so you could make it 2" wide instead of 1 1/2 so you have more wood working.

....good point. also, after about a hundred shots some pretty bad splenters started riseing on the back in the handle. im screwing up my tiller. bending to much in the handle. i think im gonna try sticking with the same size boards, just drop the drawweight to 45lbs.
