This little bow has been a looong time coming. I started it early this spring for my brother. He had intended to shoot it at Pappys, but after I got it tillered, I noticed a little line running across the grain on the back. It wasn't much, but enough to keep you wondering about it.
I made my brother another one and decided to try and fix this one before that line became a splinter. I flirted with the idea of rawhide. Pat B even gave me some nice thin stuff at the classic, (thanks again Pat) but I finaly decided to sinew back it. I put two full courses down each limb with another down just the center. I also used some elk hoof for the tip overlays and covered it all with some western diamondback skins. It's 60" ntn and 1-3/8" wide tapering down to some GIANT tips ;D
She don't draw much, just 47# at 28" but man does it ever shoot hard. Right off the string it has about 1-3/4" reflex and comes back to a little over 2" at rest.
This thing has fought me from the start, but in the end, I like the way it turned out. Saw Filer

That'en came out nice Shannon. Nice full draw picture to. You are quite a artist..... 8) :)

Wow very nice. Full draw pic is cool. It shows the tiller well. One thing though. You might want to take some weight off those bulky tips. :D

Thanks Ryan. I'm no artist though. Those evening sky backgrounds are just by circumstance. It's usually late when I get around to taking pictures and since I don't have a tripod for the camera, I just put it on the ground, prop it up with a rock and leave the flash off.
I do like the way they look, but came by it by accident.
Yea Jesse, I been trying to work on that lately. I think I could go a little slimmer, don't you think ;D Shannon

beautiful bow there. like adb said, i like everything about it.
-
yessir, if i made one that nice, i'd make up some story too, about a "dangerous crack" running across the back, so my brother would keep his hands off it!
Nice one!

Shannon, that's a sweet bow...is it still going to your brother? ;) Hope I get to shoot it sometime, I'm sure it'll spit um!
-
Nicely done. Love the nock overlay.

Thanks everybody, I'm glad ya'll like it.
Greg, my brothers replacement bow was the one he was shooting at the Classic, the one without skins. He ain't getting this one back.
I had this one down there and I showed it to you. That was before I fixed it up, so you may not remember it.
As soon as it cools down a little and Pappys OK with it, I'd like to come down for a weekend of shooting or hunting. Saw Filer

That is a SWEET looking bow , Shannon. Those old stubborn one's always turn out to be my favorite shooter's.
-
Fantastic bow Shannon, but you really need to make the tips smaller ;) :D
-
Nice save on that one Mr. Shannon ;). You seem to have a knack for pulling those rabbits out, or is it just sheer determination and a lot of sweat ;D? That's one fine lookin weapon sir!!
-
I know this has come up in the past, but for BOM, is a sinew backed bow a backed bow, or a self bow?
-
A Sinew backed selfbow is still a selfbow as far as I'm concerned, Its still made of one piece of wood.
Laminated is two or more pieces of wood or grass (bamboo) glued together. Why do you ask?
