Title: First Osage and its Snakeyyyyy
Post by: whitewoodshunter on September 27, 2008, 05:03:02 pm
I got this " Stave " a while ago from an Amish man who makes canes and rocking chairs. I saw it and recognized it as Osage. I asked him if I could buy it and he sold it to me for a dollar!!! The bow turned out 62ntn and 48#@26. Its a good shooter to. I left it simple. no grip wrap just a floppy rest. It was really snakey and knotty, there was a knot on the lower limb I had to wrapp with sinew but not a big deal so far.

I just love a nice snaky osage bow!  You did well.   Next time I'm in northern Indiana I'll have to ask around the Amish about bow wood. ;) 8)      Pat
