Title: 1st Stone Knife and Birch Bark Sheath
Post by: DanaM on September 28, 2008, 02:29:48 pm
A few weeks after returning home from the Tenn Classic I was going through my knapping stuff and found a preform in my bucket.
How it got there I have no idea but my thanks to whoever :) I think its Cowboy flint. I had to do some percussion work to thisn it some
and then finished it up with pressure flaking. Hafted to elk antler with gut and a few coats of true oil. The sheath was more work than the
blade. As much as I would like to keep this I will be sending it out as part of the KITH :) Hope someone likes it as much as I do.

The pic with the pat is Bo's first bird, for those that don't know Bo is one of Pappy's dog Hannahs' pups. This was his first flush and I managed to shoot
it on the wing. Bo even fetched him, didn't want to give it to me but he did retrieve it :)

Dana:  That's awesome.  Great job on the knife and congrats on the wingshot.  I love the bird hunting.  Unfortunately one more thing that I have too little time for.

Mike

Sweet! Nice knife, and the sheath looks great. So does the grouse (funny, you call 'em partridges-the old timers around here call 'em pheasants and call quail partridges.) Those suckers are some good eating. We used to have scads of them around here, but I haven't seen hardly any in the last three or four years.

I will get to it Mike, I will most likely make a pile pretty gravel but who knows maybe I will get something from it.
Time is my biggest problem right now, I don't have any :(
