There is a retired fellow who helps me out in the shop, allows me to take a half day off once in a while.......well, he has been looking at the bows I have been making, figured he could do that too. So , off to Home Depot and two weeks later is out in the back yard, shooting. Called me up to tell me it was done and sounded like a kid on Christmas Morning!!
This addiction is catching. A friend of his wants to try it now.
Is there a medicine for this? Like a flu shot or something? heh heh heh
cheers, piper

I hope not Joel

No medicine yet but once the drug companies find out about it there will be ;D
Glad to hear your friend is having fun with it. Nothing better than that first shot from the first successful bow.
-
The only medicine for this is to go and harvest some staves and comence to shaving and bending. Danny

I'll stop by with that osage stave on mon or wed after school
-
Joel your like me, you don't want a cure for this addiction.

There isn't a cure, but there is a medication/distraction- arrow making >:D!

Thanks alot Kegan, just when I thought things were going smoothly, you had to thow arrow making into the mix. Where will it end? ha ha

My daughter now has the bug, at least to shoot Daddy's bows. That's cool, another family activity.
Here are a couple of pics. She was home from college this weekend and got out of the house twice with my light bow. I learned, much to my surprise, that she had archery in High School and really has missed shooting!! The things we learn about our kids, it's amazing.
I'm not sure the posture is just right, but she's having fun. Note the arrow, streaking away in flight in the last pic!!

The way they are taught iin schools and accredited courses, her posture is just fine as long as she is hitting what she is shooting at.
-
Yesterday they were all over the 3x5 cardboard I have on the shed. Today they were in the 9" x 12" colored paper she hung up. If she was shooting again tomorrow I'd be betting on her. Ah, to be young again, when learning was easy.

Looks like She has Her Anchor and Follow Through down pat.......now just have Her drop that Elbow a Bit....and She will have it!!
Ain't it great to have Kids that like to go outside and do things......Like We used to do!! Not Vegetate in front of the Tube!!!!

That's the way to pass it on. Good job. Jawge

Yeah, exactly. Just like kicking a morphine additcion by taking up heroine!
-
Well you could start building arrows. But then you would need feathers, so here comes turkey season. And what the heck, gotta have points, so you need to learn flint knapping,,, see where this is going? ;D
-
I do agree with El Destructro about droppping the elbow a little if possible, but some girls are taught to keep their bow arm a little foward so something doesn't get hit with the string. Because of this and the high anchor point, it has a tendency to shorten the draw length and thus unfortunitly a slightly high elbow.
I would rather see her shooting with a high elbow, than getting into trouble like so many young people today. Tell her to keep up the good work

So, I need to buy more leather, all matching of course, and make an arm guard and a .........hmmm.......well...........another , color coordinated protection device. OK, well, Christmas is coming, i'll do the leather work along with making her a "daddy-special" bow.

Not all of us are vegetables. My brother and I are still at it. Why, just the other day he broke his thumb lumberjacking :)!
JW_Halverson - Exactly >:D!!!

Kegan, I stand corrected. You are right, not ALL YOUNG PEOPLE are veggies. But, you know there are a bunch of them. It is so easy to "go to the mall", watch TV, sit on Facebook and chat.....and not to actually CREATE or CRAFT anything. I commend you for being active in a productive and interesting hobby (that doesn't take batteries).
Rock 'n roll,
Piper
