Title: Grizzly heads
Post by: Don on November 12, 2008, 09:37:35 pm
Awhile back I posted about the Ace broadheads that I had the tip bend over when I hit a buck high and possibly in the shoulder.
Well I got some 160gr. Grizzlys, got them good and sharp and tested them on a friend deer him had shot.
Used the rib cage and the hide over that. Stepped off about the same yardage as the bent Ace shot that went haywire.
Well I got 2 broken ribs and 4" into the target stop behind it. I know not a should shot but still impressive.

I've always liked Grizzleys. I like the Woodsmen too, but I file the point to a chisel like the Grizzley's now.

Yep I am sold on Grizzlies for store bought hunting points or simular designed trade points.

Got some of them. Never liked the single bevel edges. I'm sure they'll do the job just fine though.  I've killed deer with them, Ace's, and Magnus heads and goten good results with all. I like the 165 grain magnus heads the best though. 1 1/4 cut, they put a heck of a hole in a deer.  ;D

Ryano- i shoot 50-55 lb bows.  How would a 1 1/4" broadhead penetrate with a 600 grain arrow?

on the deer i killed a couple weeks ago, i got about 36" of penatration from hip to shoulder using a grizzly.  the point broke the shoulder and stopped just under the skin.  dr. ashby's research should be required reading for all trad hunters.
