Old Weller 107 to be exact!!!

:o Add to my list lots of tick spray Not for yoopers tho ticks wont tuch a yooper
Ron
You aint Sharing crackers tent with Me .....Not smelling like a French W$%^e!!!!!As stated per the lease agreement you aint gotta share besides to Yoopers in one tent could be risky.Ron

Pappy
Probably worse
QuoteProbably worse

Dang Pappy I might have to do a Presidential order Separate area for Yoopers ;D
Ron
3 yoopers,man I don't know about that, ;D ;D are they all like you. ??? ;) ;D
Pappy
How about right next to eddie and Kathy after all their used to Yoopers >:D
Never been a quiet yooper ::)
11 pages of fun and 8 of em are about Yoopers ;D Now thats a lasting impression eh y'all ;)Its a good thing Dana don't know about all of the tactical p.m.s that are going around.
This will be my first time meeting a yooper. Will I ever be the same?
Ya mean UNLUCKY dont ya ?This will be my first time meeting a yooper. Will I ever be the same?
Not if you are LUCKY.......David!!!!
O:)
David not sure if you will be lucky or unlucky to meet a yooper, up to you decide, I just happen to be a reguular guy thatDana da UP is a lot like the deep south except for the weather. I'd dare to say that you would prthatobably fit in pretty well cept for having to listen to a bunch of yankee jokes.Oh and you would have to give up some sweat to survive the 98 degree 98 percent humidity in the summer. Jobs are getting tight here also. Other than that its just peachy in Bartow Ga.Ron
is proud of where he lives and the history and traditions of the Upper Peninsula. The UP is good place to live, no big cities, lots of
woods and water, low crime rates, neighbors that willingly help each other out, you pump your gas before paying for it and the attendant
isn't cowering behind bullet proof glass, if ya break down on the side of the road someone will stop to help ya, not rob, rape and/or kill ya.
On the downside their ain't many jobs and we have real winters.
Looking forward to meeting you and your dad :)
As to will you ever be the same, after
experiencing pappy's place and all the fine folk from all over this country, the hospitality, food,
and comraderie I think you will be changed for life.
I know this is about the tn classic but I was just wondering if there were any bushcraft gatherings in or close to north alabama? I still have alot to learn and do before I go competing
Pappy you are right about the magazine doing the classic proud. About the best issue yet. Long trip for me but can't imagine missing it, will have to see how things shape up with money and the work schedule. Again hoping to enjoy this fine event and all the best folks any where. Kenneth
It's all about the journey and not the destination! I hope the destination is never achieved because then the fun is over!
If I could only go to one archery event a year , the Classic would be it! 8) You will learn more about building wood bows and be able to discuss wood bow building with some of the best wood bow builders around...and you will walk away with a feeling of accomplishment and a beautiful bow you made yourself. Throw in eating good food, laughing until your belly hurts and best of all becoming a member of the Primitive Archer family; what more could you ask for.
Is it gonna be in captivity or is it ferral? >:DIt's all about the journey and not the destination! I hope the destination is never achieved because then the fun is over!

Pat don't forget the thrill of meeting a real live Yooper ;D Sorry couldn't esist :P
Heck Greg, Forget the wine. Lets build a steel!!!!Jesse, I saw a documentary on moonshining over the weekend and was taking notes. Don't really fully understand about that "thumper" tub that makes a thumping sound and leaves behind any impurities in the high octane steam... ;D
Yep,that will about do it. You forgot about the Yooper in the cage. ;) ;D ;D
Pappy
Blunt The Yooper sounds like a great novelty shoot to me.....;D
A Moving....... Armed Yooper would be even More Fun!!!The ultimate thrill shoot something that can shoot back.
O:)
damn glad i aint a yooper, doesnt sound like a lot of fun getting poked with a stick ;DHmmm sotaheads forgot about them. Hey guys the holler real loud when you poke em. May be a good substitute if we run out of Yoopers.
sure hope me and the wife can make it,i gots me a coffee can full of quarters.
i could spend hours poking yoopers with sticks >:D
glad ya dont have nothing like that for sota heads :D
I'd say the when it actually gets down to it...the only poking those yoopers are going to be in for is poking a little fun, which they're more then capable of returning the favor and then some I'd expect! ;DYep gotta agree with that.Ronnie
Didn't JR get shot :oYes he did that means Dana gets to be JR
Yep shor is gonna be a good one y'all Ok how the heck do ya type a southern accent ???
If the stump water flows won't be none of ya that can hit a running yooper or a standing one either :D
Is it May yet :)
I can bring a bunch of Brats for over the fire ;D How does it work for cooking, do we each have a camp fire to cook over or is there one big community fire for cooking ??? Or should i plan on bring a little charcole cooker ?
Thanks JohnK
500! ;D
I'm gonna try to make it down Thursday... Maybe by then I'll have killed a dozen or so turkeys to bring. That should keep Greg busy for a while.I've seen you in action Shannon...I think you've got me beat in the eating department! Besides, I'm on a diet...I'm only eating about twice what the average man eats now! :)
OK, I've gotta ask- What in the world is squeaky cheese?
Caveman, you wouldn't have to spend anything if you didn't want to.
You could however, buy staves, arrows, a bow or pretty much anything archery related. If you shoot the course, it cost $20 I think ??? Then there's concessions and such.
This ain't a big money event. Of course, the more money you spend while your there...the better ;D
Eddie Parker, you're a smart A** ;D If you knew how bad I wanted to kill an Oseola, you wouldn't even mention you live in Florida. I'm bringing my calls and gun. If I've killed out by then, I'd love to try to call one in for you or anyone else for that matter. I just love the sound of an old gobbler sounding off before first light and if Pappy has as many turkeys as he does deer, it shouldn't be too hard to find one. 8)
Pappy, can I give Eddie a hand thining that flock of yours?David, did Pappy mention that he only allows turkey hunting using selfbows??? ;D
20 pages and counting... ;)
So, where's da yoopers at, eh? :)
Anybody have a Punt gun?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7FeeamC4qk
>:D >:D >:D
Guys! One thing I never mentioned..... I'm a gun nut!!!! O:)
Lets see 1, 2,3,4,.... O hell I stopped counting at 17!!!! :o
I'll be arriving at the airport there about 3 something on the Tuesday before the Classic. Think I'm going to rent a car this time so I can go see one of your famous homes of your whiskey brewers and maybe even head over to some of the other sites for a side trip. Plans are completely open though!Hey Tiler that sounds like fun. I have always wanted to take a tour. Maybe if I fell in a storage tank I could drink my way out. Look out liver.Ron
Now 4 birds might be worth it Pappy!
Ron, how would ya like to join me on the tour? Maybe we can get a few other guys to join us. We will have to do some type of short straw for the designated driver though!
The montgomery co. jail is interesting been there done that lots of fun
Pappy
The montgomery co. jail is interesting been there done that lots of funPappy its hard to imagine you sittin in a jail cell. Tiller maybe but not you.Ron
Pappy
Thanks Tiller, ;) ;D sounds good, sounds like tuesday night will be the big start. :) Folks will be in from N/S/W :) all we need is someone from the east. :)I'll be there on Monday afternoon in time to set up camp and get rested up in case you need help controllin the Yoopers.Ronnie
Pappy
Dont worry Pappy I will bring the unscented soap this time! Now we might actually use the unscented stuff if it is trully unscented. The deer do have a keen sense of smell...maybe some mild acorn scented soap...what do ya think David? :) Could you reach down in that bag of scents you got and pull out some southern woods natural scents...skunk excluded please. ;)
Cool Cracker,May just me and you till Tuesday evening unless GregB shows up early.Don'tPappy
know of anyone coming in Sunday like last year. :) No telling what we might get into. ;)
Pappy
Ron, "You da MAN!" ;D8) ;D >:D
Oh Sarah napping is soo easy. Here are the instructions.1.Find a shady spot. 2.Get a nice comfy pillow.3.......
Ohh..I want to learn how to knap!!
Maybe I'll bring a couple of big ol honkin rib eyes to throw on the grill.RonRon, I don't think a couple will be enough! ;D
I was a sleep and every once in a while I would hear a big wackkkkk.I think it was more of a thud sound...and it was the effects of our local spring water on some of our guests! ;D
After I shoot one with a "bird" point for an article, then it's Meat hunting with the 300 winmag.Pork, collard greens, and pineapples...and a real chef comin' to put um all together for a feast...shaping up to be a right good ol time! ;D

Ohh..I want to learn how to knap!!
Cracker, I have already mastered that form.....trust me....
Well there it is guys.
CONFESSION IS GOOD FOR THE SOUL.
...It's so GOOD it will turn ya into a .....GregB!!!!
Hey GregB, they're making me think you like to eat, we'll have to link up, lol.
If a yooper passes gas in front of you dont be offended its their way of saying you are now friends.I think Dana made friends with just about everyone he met! ;D That is true about Dana making a lot of friends...but I don't know of him having to pass gas to do it. ;) I do believe the part about offering a yooper a beer to seal a friendship though. :)
I will be working with Eddie on the rock cooking thing. Please dont come looking for me if you break all the teeth in your mouth after trying my rock caserole! I hope to also be doing a demo on sealing your bow with beeswax and pine rosin.David where you gonna get the rocks?
Why, you! Of course Ron! ;DSeems like your muscelin in on my raquet.Maybe I'll have the boys in my tent pay you a visit.
Seems like your muscelin in on my raquet.Maybe I'll have the boys in my tent pay you a visit.
Did I hear someone say FREE BEER ;D My favorite brand eh ;)You were mistaken Dana. Hearing must be goin on ya eh.
I am hiding my tent an camouflaging it!!! Now you see me....Now you dont!!!Dana you and Mike know what to do.
Gots to watch these Yoopers and Southern boys!!! ;D
Fer a Nickle I will .......... 8)
Okay...moving on...who's planning to work on a bow during the Classic? :)
yup me too :)Okay...moving on...who's planning to work on a bow during the Classic? :)
Greg I will give ya definate maybe ;) :)
For ones that aren't building bows,we should get togeather early Friday morning and shoot in the selfbow class,if we get out early we can run through it before the shop gets crowed or the
range. :)
Pappy
I'd be happy to donate to the Happy Pappy Club.

Pappy
Count Me in too....But I will probably lag behind.....shagging all of my Arrows that miss........ ::)
OK that does it I'm gonna bring my sling shot so I can keep the peace.Ron 8)
If any of you guys build slingshots, I need a buildalong....or a present! ;D
I really did get some nice bands for making sling shots, I'm supposed to be using them for exerciseDana, I think it would be therapeutic for you to wrap one of those rubberbands around your head like a sweat-band...everytime you're tempted to take another verbal stick jab at Tiller, grab the rubber band at your forehead...extent your arm full length...and let go! ;D You'll kill two birds with one stone...get your physical therapy and cure your need to pick on poor Tiller at the same time. ;D
but I just tell em my dog ate them and they give me new ones
I have therapy tuesday so I will see about getting some extra rubber bands, dang dog ate mine again :)
I plan to bust up some rock cook, eat, drink, shoot, socialize and walk around with a smile on my face for the whole week.Ron
Vidalia Onions....them are texas Sweet Onions....what are they growing them in Georgia for Cracker???? As for Making Pasties...well ya just gotta have an Oven Barbequed or Fried just won't cut it!! And ya gotta have Bagas....not them damned Turnips either....I can live with People putting Gravy on them....I just can't do it myself....Gravy aint Bad!!Check your history thats a Ga thang.Ron
And Dana, what is a lutefisk? Is it contagious? ;D I'll try to bring some more ramps this year, too, since we're into regional cuisine. :)
Fill the inside with cheddar cheese, cover with a strip of bacon, add a bit of salt and black pepper and rosemary, wrap in foil and bake in a 350 over for 30 minutes. It is so good it will make you slap your grandma!
I'm bringing cheese :)
I will be there but I don't think I ill have any extra money after some butthole stole my identy.Don't worry brother we'll see that you get fed.Ron
Guess I might have to not eat or maybe pick some road kill up on the way down. ;)
At least they didn't get my jar I had buried in the back yard, should be enough to pay for the gas :)

I could sit by Greg with an empty bowl and a tear in my eye.
He's a big softy so I'm sure he will share
You could loose a hand or even an eye if you are that close.
Might wind up with a fork stabbed in the back of his hand and two or three finger missing.Ron
Greg I might be small but I'm scrappy plus I cheat, especially when it comes to food ;DDana damn glad to hear it ain't too bad. Ron
Looks like the dirty SOB only got into my checking account so at the worst I might be out a couple hundred bucks.
Guess I should feel lucky eh :-\
You guys will like Alan. He is as crazy as the rest of us...and old too!
Eddie if you wear your kilt , i'll wear mineJesse, the last time you got into giving and taking dares...your handle was created! ;D
Will anyone be there the weekend before the shoot?I wil I will
Ya it was kind of cold and damp, should be better by May ,at least the cold part. ;) ;D ;D ThatI'd pick the one in the back. Looks like I might stand a chance at that one ;D
target is going to be a pick one. ;D if we can talk KingRon into it. :)
Pappy
I think you are right Jesse, the front one may be swaying a little making it harder to hit. :)
Pappy
We might get there wed but most likely thursday. Was going to bring Hanna's pup but after thinking about it she would most likely be a nuisance to everyone. Especially on the 3D course. Maybe when she gets a little older and calms down a bit. Right now she goes 100 mph and only stops to eat and poop.

Jessee, how about bringing pic's of Hanna's pup, we would love to see em. Chuck
After all that good southern cooking There might be some 50-80 MPH gusts ;D
Well, looks like its shaping up that I will be the lone NorWester heading east again. I should blow into town Tuesday evenning before the classic. Expect 50-80 MPH gusts. Put out the gale warning folks!
David T
Pappy looks like me an VB will be heading out Sunday the 26th sometime, think you can handle 2 Yoopers for
a whole week ;) :D
So, whats the furthest most isolated spot on the world that someone has come to attend the classic so far?
I keep hoping someone might show up from some place in Eurasia or some tiny island in the South Pacific. Now that would be cool! ;DTIller aren't you from some rainy forsaken island? ;D
Pappy, Me? Sensitive???? You sure you got the right guy? I just smell better than the rest of ya is all! ;D ;)Tiller maybe I could loan you a hickory bow and a few arrows. How does 53 at 27 sound to you?
Yep, Ron! I'm from THAT island! Its cloudy again outside and lightly rainning. Forcast is rain untill the end of time! 8)
Well, I got to get my archery equipment ready to go. I may just leave it all at home, though. I think I may be able to make a quicky bow on the first day. Maybe some arrows on the second?
That would be great Ron! Thanks!!!! I draw 27" and 53# would be just about right!OK I'll put one in the trailer before I leave.Ronnie
David
Looking forward to sitting arround the fire there with you and the guys, Ron. Havn't heard a Georgia drawl in a long time! ;DTiller you better get ready. I hear its just awful when I get likkered up.
This is one event where you hear all the different accents spoken in the english language in one place. I hear more and learn more at this event than most places I've been. :D
Ronnie, Likkered up?,, like in Cherry Coke? Yaaa'll got any June Bugs?
QuoteRonnie, Likkered up?,, like in Cherry Coke? Yaaa'll got any June Bugs?
If the June bugs aren't out by then, I'd bet we could substitute with some crawdad's from the creek! ;D
I calls it my "Yooper Booper!" ;D ;D ;D LOL
I didn't know that Dana...why doesn't anyone tell me anything? ;D
Can anyone say .................M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-Morels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Pappy how many folks are gonna be there on monday?
We'll be there about midnight Thursday night.
6 or 7 that I know of,who knows for sure. When are you coming ? I am sure there will be some locals coming and going also. :)I plan on being there Monday afternoon about three or four.Ron
Pappy
Dana, just save me a sip or twelve of that spring water- I'll be ready for it after driving all the way down there in the rain. How do I know it'll rain? Past experience. :)
You can stash it in my trailer.I promise to take real good care of it. >:DDana, just save me a sip or twelve of that spring water- I'll be ready for it after driving all the way down there in the rain. How do I know it'll rain? Past experience. :)
Will do Steve, now I just have to find where they stash the spring water ;D
;) Here is a hint do you understand Dana
Ron
Be afraid, very afraid :o Is that a bamjo I hear ;)I guess I'll never see the end of that. ;D
6 or 7 that I know of,who knows for sure. When are you coming ? I am sure there will be some locals coming and going also. :)I plan on being there Monday afternoon about three or four.Ron
Pappy
Eddie I'm getting in on Tuesday! ;D
There you go another Ron that will help get you there Eddie you know David never pays attention :)Its no that he's not trying its just all the soap fumes. ::)
Ron
There you go another Ron that will help get you there Eddie you know David never pays attentionI don't know Ron, I seen Tiller paying attention to every lady that got within a couple hundred feet of him last year! I think Tiller fills in Sadies position as hound of Twin Oaks during the Classic! ;D
Pappy I sense that underneath that gentlemanly demeanor there may lay a sharp wit and a wild sense of fun. Maybe me and the boys should pour you full of branch water and see if we can get it to come out.Don't you dare Cracker! Pappy is only allowed beer...he's built up a tolerance for it! ;D We need him to bad the day after for yall to be pouring spring water down him! ;D
GregB's right,I don't do brown or clear. It hurts to bad,I don't do blue or red either. ;) ;D it hurts
even worse. :)
Pappy
Don't you dare Cracker! Pappy is only allowed bear...he's built up a tolerance for it!ewww weee, i'm keepin my mouth shut on this one ;)
Turky, nah! Ron doesn't really like it either. He's just trying not to hurt your fealings! Just save it all and hand it over to me and I'll put it somewhere safe! ;DHmm a Tiller and a bunch of turkeys on a plane sounds like a national enquirer story to me.
Tiller, that werent a lady..it was Cracker Ron :o....you did have tooo much spring water i spose 8)....BrianAllright guys this is gettin a little creepy. I don't know if I can hang with this crowd. Till is little and cute and all but he aint built right. If you kmow what I mean.Ron
I'm with ya there Ron! There is just something a little off with these guys this year.Yep seems a little suspicious doesn't it.Maybe I should whip us up a couple war bows so we can play blount the wiseguys at 300 yards. >:D >:D
I know what I could tip them with golf balls a slice is considered no fault no liable. >:DI'm with ya there Ron! You cant shoot me Ron :o...whos gonna sing off key with ya while Hillbillys a pickin :D.....BrianAre you suggesting that my singing was anything less than technical perfection? O:)
Got a guy thinking about doing a fly tying demo at the Classic what do you thinkRon I like the fly tying idea always interested me.
Ron
Creek bottom nearby. Grab a root and hold on tight!;D >:D
If you've been drinking the spring water you will not even notice if it gets ya! You may wake up in the next state thinking "Now that was one hell of a party!" ;D
Hmmmmm...now that we're on the subject of changing the subject, I'd like to ask a couple questions since this will be my first time:Several people had campfires last year and twin oaks suppplies fire wood so it must be ok. The closest real market that I know of is in Clarksville, about fifteen minutes away. If I am mistaken I'm sure some of the guys will correct me.Ron
What's the policy on open fires?
How close is the nearest supermarket?
There is one rule about campfires that no one has mentioned yet...so I guess I'll pass it along so you can all prepare, and it goes something like this...
...any campfires during the Tn. Classic must serve a dual purpose beyond just providing heat, they must also be used for cooking and the owner of such campfire must be willing to share his campfire feast with any and all passerby's! ;D
Yeah.....are you coming Patrick?? If you want to share a Ride let me know too.....thats doable....and if you need a place to stay...Ron gave Me His Tent to stay in....says there is a lot of room in it........Mike the tent has room for two to be comfortable any more than that and it'll be crowded.Ron
I haven't heard back from My Buddy John from Tennessee....so I don't know if He is still planning on showing up....so I may still have a spare spot to lay ones head.....I'm sure I can make room on the floor of the trailer if we come up short.
Greg, I'm not surprised that you made sure that fireside rule was in effect!Yeah Pat, I was considering adding an adendum to the rule that stated a certain percentage of all campfire food must be brought up to the bow makin' shed for taste sampling... ;D
I'm hoping my Tuesday evening start of the Classic timeframe for me isn't pushed back some. I've got a project coming up that is being pushed by upper management that doesn't know or care what it takes in time to accomplish work. The Product Engineering team has worked on it for months, and when they have their work done I've been asked to implement it to production in days, I don't know for sure the timing yet...I guess in these times one should feel fortunate to have a job, but sometimes...okay, enough venting. For what it may be worth I feel your pain brother. I think its the same everywhere you go. I bet they even said all the real work has been done by them.Ron
Who runs that show,do I need to call or go out there and have a little talk with them. ;) ;D ;DUHOH they're in for it now.
Pappy
