I work a trade out with James for this bow, gotta be my best trade to date :) Anyone who hasn't shot one of James' bows just
don't know what their missing. His craftsmanship and attention to details is just incredible. This is by far the best shooting bow
I have ever shot. Shoots fast, hard and is a pleasure to shoot. I shot every arrow in my quiver through it and all of them shot well,
they ranged from rivercane, tonkin, spruce, hardwood shoots and even carbons. I am impressed to say the least.
Thank you for the trade James and we will talk next fall about our next trade ;) :)
About the bow:
66" NTN 49#@26"
Bamboo back and carmelized bamboo belly, black walnut riser, cherry ,blonde mohaghany lams
paduke and horn tip overlays
rattan wrapped handle

Is that a hinge just above the handle? ??? ;D Only kidding. Great looking bow and I know from experiance how good they shoot.
-
Yeah, James' bows are in a class all by themselves, that boy is gonna fool around and learn how to make a shooter one of these days if he isn't careful.....;D
-
I've shot many of James' bows and everyone has impressed me. You are a lucky Yooper!
-
Yup I'm a lucky Yooper and I bet I'm the only Yooper with one of James' bows ;D
Hmmm maybe I can be his northern sales rep :)
-
Might have to give that one a try myself. :) You lucky yooper :)

-
Damn... that is bow porn!! What a beauty.
-
Nice bow Dana. ;D What did you have to trade for that your first born child? ::)
James, do you make your own laminations or do you buy the tapered lams?
-
Ryano I tarded a whole big box of..... ;D
I do believe he does all his own lams :)
-
I believe Jame's bows are tillered before glue-up because of his tapers.
-
thanks fellows, you guys are too much, its only sticks glued together.but your compliments are greatly appreciated.ryano all of my bows are made from scratch.from the boo ,riser and lams,i will be glueing one of these up with the wedge technique,at the tenn classic,if pappy will let me. maybe someone there could take pics and it could be put on the build along section.if anyone is intrested in attending the free workshop, make a point to stop by my booth and let me know...thanks everyone
-
dana i gave you the wrong info on that bow,,,,the lams are brazilian cherry and rock maple

-
Brazilian cherry and rock maple eh, works for me ;D
Rick it does indeed send em screaming :)
I guess I am tarded Mike :P
-
James what do use to make the tapered lams? Do you have one of fancy grinders?
-
yea an older style cabinet sander, i used to use my table or band saw cut them close then hand finishbut thas was very slow going, and if you pick up a splinter of epi or brzl cherry it really sux.
-
James how far can this bow be drawn safely?
-
28" working it into that draw length,it should take 30min of limb working ,no less on such a new bow.the limbs will eventually get the memory they need for it to be pulled to 28' at a regular basis.dana just go slow no need to be in a hurry,if you do it right the bow will out last you...james
-
Good info James, right now I'm only pulling about 25" if the doc can fix my shoulder I may eventually pull 27" :)
-
Typical first rate work from robustus! Great candidate for January Laminate BOM.

Or at least your pretty wife. ;D
Heck eddie she's camera shy ???
-
thats a beautiful bow robustus, I've seen these bows before, the bamboo dragons, did'nt realize they where made by you!! I've wanted to make a bow with boo back and belly for ages , but haven't worked my self up to trying yet, haven't figured out how to work out the thickness of bamboo etc. etc. I reckon these bows must be some of the fastest wooden bows anywhere, what do you think???
-
Outstanding to these ol' eyes, James. Congrats on your new bow, Dana.
-
Thanks Bernie :)
