Title: Bamboo Dragon By James Parker
Post by: DanaM on January 19, 2009, 03:59:21 pm
I work a trade out with James for this bow, gotta be my best trade to date :) Anyone who hasn't shot one of James' bows just
don't know what their missing. His craftsmanship and attention to details is just incredible. This is by far the best shooting bow
I have ever shot. Shoots fast, hard and is a pleasure to shoot. I shot every arrow in my quiver through it and all of them shot well,
they ranged from rivercane, tonkin, spruce, hardwood shoots and even carbons. I am impressed to say the least.
Thank you for the trade James and we will talk next fall about our next trade ;) :)

About the bow:

66" NTN 49#@26"
Bamboo back and carmelized bamboo belly, black walnut riser, cherry ,blonde mohaghany lams
paduke and horn tip overlays
rattan wrapped handle

Nice bow Dana.  ;D What did you have to trade for that your first born child?  ::)

James, do you make your own laminations or do you buy the tapered lams?

James how far can this bow be drawn safely?

28" working it into that draw length,it should take 30min of limb working ,no less on such a new bow.the limbs will eventually get the memory they need for it to be pulled to 28' at a regular basis.dana just go slow no need to be in a hurry,if you do it right the bow will out last you...james

Good info James, right now I'm only pulling about 25" if the doc can fix my shoulder I may eventually pull 27" :)

thats a beautiful bow robustus, I've seen these bows before, the bamboo dragons, did'nt realize they where made by you!!  I've wanted to make a bow with boo back and belly for ages , but haven't worked my self up to trying yet, haven't figured out how to work out the thickness of bamboo etc. etc.  I reckon  these  bows must be some of the fastest wooden bows anywhere, what do you think???
