Guys i thought I would share this with yall. I have a 6'' X 1'' peice of wood. I drilled a hole in the middle and inserted a short pencil with the tip barley sticking out. As you slide it up and down the limbs you can see the high and low spots. I have done two bows that way and it cuts back on the hinges. I saw this on a site a while back and if you hadn't tryed this it works good. Good luck hope I helped someone Chuck

Just tried it on a flat bellied pyramid bow....worked awesome. A big thanks to Eric Krewson for that idea.
-
The tool really works better than anything else out there. Make them, share them and spread the word.

New tillering tool? This is not new. Dean Torges calls it a walkie-talkie stick. This has been around for a LONG time.
-
Wow so simple yet so effective.Never thought of it , but i will try it out 2morro
-
Dean's walkie talkie has a screw in it. When you run it up the limb you watch the gap between the screw and the bow limb then go back and scrape where the gap closes. With this tool it marks exactly where you need to remove wood, you don't even have to look at the gap when you run it up the limb, very quick and precise. Dean has a pencil marking tillering tool on his website but it is more complicated to make than this one and not as easily adjustable. I sent Dean a link to the the tutorial on this tool and he thanked me

So this is used on a braced bow? or full drawn? or?
Seen it before, but keep forgetting to try it.

I use mine from a slight bend on the long string to the short string up to about 20" draw and everyhting in between.
