Picked this rock up outa the creek yesterday and just had to hit it today. After I got it thin I figured to try another CC. I've broke every one I ever tried. The notches need to be deeper on this one, but that crack had me scared,so I stopped. Punched it. (Jeff city nodule).
The graham cave is some heat treated burlington that I took out of the cooker last week.Perty stuff! It turned out real nice I think. Reminds me of flint ridge mat.

:D :D ;D. Don't need to try to stay up with me Tim, your work is top shelf in my book. And mostly abo? That's something I've got to lean into more soon. That crack woulda scared me off too ::). Good lookin CC. I like the looks of those Graham caves you produce, think I'll try one when I get home.

You make me SICK! Just pickin all that nice rock up like that! ;D I could walk for days around here and not find a rock half as pretty as those. That Graham Cave is beautiful.

Thanks all.
Paul, all my percussion work is antler, most of my pressure work is with copper. I still fight with antler pressure flakers. ;)
Shanon, location, location, location. ;D Actually I was hunting a creek for native points and couldn't figure out where they got their mat, so I went searching. I found it coming out of a tall clay bank, but most was fractured. These piece was killer, so I now have to go back and look harder.
Pete, the burl mat doesn't always take that much color, This particular rock was an exception, and there is always a trade off. The color change areas flake different than the rest of the rock. Tends to be more brittle,so better ground platforms are needed. Didn't take long to figure that out.

Well done man, they look real good, awesome color

Looking at it again Tim - that flake pattern on the GC is superb! I gotta start putting a little forthought into my knapping. Everything I do is more or less random.
