I heard the other day that Tom is under Hospice care now. :( He was diagnosed with a brain tumor about 2 years ago. His Dad brought him to my camp-o-rama last year and he and his son Patrick were at the Classic and at Hickory.
Alan Brown called me the other day to tell me about Tom and he was going to visit him. Alan will be at the camp-o-rama so I'll find out more info then.
Please keep Tom in your thoughts and prayers.

I hate to hear that, he's seemed to be doing much better for awhile. He's been through more than anyone should have to go through.
-
Tell him my thoughts and prayers are with Tom and the family.
-
He will be in my thoughts,I meet him at the Classic and he is one fine gentleman. :(

I didn't know the gentleman but I wish him all the best just the same. Any brother of the bow is a brother of mine.Ronnie
-
Pat, I really hate to hear that. Will you keep me posted on his condition?
-
I've lost my two best buddies since childhood to cancer a few years back, and now another close friend has a lung cancer/brain tumor diagnosis since couple of months; all three in their early/mid fourties.
Tell Tom I wish him all the best!

Thats some sad news :'( I met Tom at Pappy's this year and had several conversations with him. He is a
true gentleman with a big heart. I will keep him and his family in my thoughts.
-
I'll find out more this weekend and will keep everyone posted. I will also pass on everyone's thoughts and prayers.
-
I hate to hear that after everyone at the Classic was saying how well he was doing. I like Dana ,happened to meet him and Patrick in the knapping pit. I have a lot of respect for a father that took the time to let his son pursue his interests with full support. I'll be thinking about Tom and Patrick and hope he can fight it again.

I talked to Tom on the phone Sunday evening. He sounded weak and told me he had lost the use of his left side. We talked for about 10 minutes. I didn't get any medical details but he seems to be slipping faster than before. I'll keep ya'll posted. :(

I just heard from Alan Brown that Tom slipped away yesterday. :( He was unconscious for the last few days and he went peacefully without any pain.
For those in the area, a memorial will be scheduled and as I find out more about it I will keep ya'll informed. Please keep Patrick and the rest of Tom's family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Man! This just tears me up. I've been at the funeral today of a good friend and coworker for over 20 years and now this. The first time I met Tom at Cade's he treated me to almost embarrassment as one of the best knappers and Bowyer's he new. Tom wanted to know how to hunt, make bows and somebody help his son with his knapping.
Tom new I liked Crown Royal and always had a bottle when we got together. The last time We got together was down here at the Dade City Knap- In and I new it might be the last time I'd see my good friend. I can honestly say, that I will miss one of the nicest guy's I've ever met and was happy to call him a good friend.

I thought a lot of Tom and consider Patrick a good friend too. I gave Patrick his first real "Indian" bow. ;D This was before I had met them and Patrick was pretty young. Tom had given him a Martin Stick >:( but he wanted a real "Indian" bow. I asked Tom first and I gave Patrick a little osage sapwood bow I had made and his face lit up. Being the polite kid he was, he asked his Dad if he could have it and Tom said sure. Patrick thanked me with a giant grin. When I asked him his name, he told me it was Patrick Brennan. 8) The three of us have been friends ever since. I will miss Tom. I hope to talk to Patrick soon.

Sorry to hear of this fellows passing he must have been quite a guy to get so many good wishes from so many. My condolences. Ronnie
-
Ronnie, you may have met Tom and his son Patrick at the Classic this past year. I think they got there on Friday. Patrick is quite a knapper and if there is knapping going on he is usually in the pit with the rest of them.

Tom will be missed by many. He was a good person, and has been through more hardships in the last year or two than anyone should ever have to go through. He had always wanted to go to the TN Classic, and I'm glad that he got a chance to finally get down there this year. He also shot a few targets with us at Hickory this year, and I was glad to get to spend this bit of time with him. Tom was a good friend, and I will greatly miss his quick wit, his humor, and his coffee. The campfire circle will always have an empty spot where he should be. My thoughts are with Patrick and the rest of the family.

I believe that I met Him at Pappy's this past Spring...but never got to talk to Him that I remember....It's a Shame that so Many of Us have to go at such an early point in Our Lives....and Cancer is the Major Creep that We need to beat into submission..... >:( It has taken it's Toll of My Family and has spared just One so far....
My Prayers go out to Patrick and the rest of the Family....God Be With Them
