Got this 7 point buck yesterday morning with my Hawthorne bow. That's the third buck that's fallen to that bow, and the 4Th deer in two seasons. I almost let this small buck pass by me, but with so little time to hunt this year and deer sightings being a rare occasion this year. I decided I better not pass what might be my only opportunity for a shot at a legal deer. I'm thankful for the meat on the table and in the freezer. Made about a 17 yard shot on him, self nock cedar arrow tipped with a magnus 125 head. The arrow penetrated up to the Fletch's right behind the front shoulder and he ran about 15 yards and the arrow pulled out the other side for a pass through shot. He ran about a hundred yards or so before expiring. Thanks for looking. 8)

Great kill, and congrats!!!

Thanks guys. I'll admit it was a little hard to let the arrow go on this little guy after last years buck, but at least my wife is happy. She says I'm not allowed to shoot anymore big ones. She says we don't have anymore room on the wall for another one and the big one's are to tough and gamey......lol. I just wish we were allowed more than one buck a year in PA. You guys is TN don't know how good you got it. That's the exist hole in the picture by the way the entrance was about mid way up in the other side. He was shot from a tree stand. The shot placement looks perfect but I actually only got the very bottom of one lung and the liver which surprised me.....

Great deer Ryan!

Nice bit of shooting Ryan
I just wish we were allowed more than one buck a year in PA. You guys is TN don't know how good you got it.
You don't know how good you have it also. We are allowed to shoot 1 buck and 1 doe, but only if you draw the tags. Usually about every other year you can get a doe. If you bow hunt you can draw a buck tag every year, rifle is about 2 years out of 3.

Nice job Ryan, That is a fine deer. My only complaint is that ugly quiver stuck on the side of one of your beautiful bows. ;D
-
That sucks. They just initiated the antler restrictions around here so most counties we can kill four deer, some five. Luckily I hunt in one of the five deer counties. All my life, it's been two does and one buck till now.

Might not be a Wall-Hanger Ryan...but I have never been a Trophy Hunter....and I would have not let this one passed either...going to be a Lot Better Eating than the one You got last Year...thats for sure!! Congrats on the Clean Kill
-
Great job Ryan! That's a dandy buck in anyone's book, and the fact that you got it with primitive equipment, well, that makes it even more special. Next time, you need to get one with a stone point!! haha...jsut kiddin dude, I know you've had some bad luck with them in the past, I was just razzing ya...

Sweet Ryan, and good Eats. I got a little doe last weekend. The lease I'm on has 10 doe permits. We can shoot a buck a day till the end of the season, mid Jan. Thanksgiving week is Doe week on private property. I'm taking vacation that week. We can shoot one a day for 7 days.
-
Way to go Buddy! ;D
Glad to see somebody break the spell. I'm still trying, but not too worried yet.
-
Good shooting Ryan.

Thanks everyone. It's been a tough year up here for some reason.... I've hunted days at a time with out even seeing a tail. He was only the 5th deer I've seen on stand since the season started and the first one I could get a reasonable shot at. I don't know why but it seems the majority of the deer movement has been after dark this year. With the very limited time I had to hunt this year with my new job and all I am happy just get one. :) And Billy I probably will try a stone point again someday.....

Here's a picture of him alive about 5 yards from where he was when I shot him.

Hey Ryan congrats, Sorry I missed you when I was back east. I did not get to hunt much but shot a big doe while I was home. Cutting a ton of bow wood in my new stomping grounds. Will try to catch up when I get back home. Glad to see that bow still at it, I think its one of the nicer ones I have seen on here.
