Well I am finely done,The bow turned out 60in. n-n 53@26.It is 1 5/8 to mid. limb tappered to
3/8 at tips.It has a layer of deer rawhide covered with Parrie rattlers and 7 coats of Tru oil rubbed on.It has cow horn tips,This was my first attempt at that. They turned ou OK.I turned up the last 6 in. of the tip just to give it a little more spunk. It is braced at 5 1/2 in.It was made from Osage cut in Dec.05 I split the belly off witch is what it was made from in March 06 and sealed it, steamed it and and strightened it at that time .Then put it up untill last month.Finished it 3/6/07.Hope
yall like it.It was the one on [Next project].I have a few pictures and that's all I promise. ;D

Pappy, it is a joy to watch a true master at his craft work! Your build along has been fantastic and informative.
As for your bow I don't have words to describe it, I will just say its a Mona Lisa of bows.
Truly inspiring ;D

That bow turned out really nice pappy
-
Pappy, really a great looking bow from a very difficult piece of wood. It says a lot for your ability to turn out such a fine bow with all the challenges involved! I think it's definitely one of your best! ;)
-
Nice bow!
SJM
-
Nice job Pappy. Thanks for posting.
-
Pappy, that bow turned out excellent. You definately have skill.
-
Pappy, its a STATE OF THE ART bow. Wonderful!
-
Thats one beautiful bow you made there! I like the way it just blends into the woods.
Takes alot of knowledge to coax a bow out of a stave that snakey!!
A pleasure! :)
-
I was going to tell you how pretty the snakes looked, but then I thought no I like the tiller best, but then there is that beautiful handle wrap, Well you get the point. . That stitching is as fine as any baseball I have ever seen. Keep inspiring us. I have been hunting trees with nails in them. Justin
-
Absolutely stunning Pappy. That is one of the most incredible character bows that I've ever seen. Great detail work as allways. Your skills are showing in every curve of that bow. Keep going like that and we'll be naming you the king of character. Congratulations Keenan
-
Pappy, that one came out nice! ;D I'll have to take a closer look in may. ;)
-
Pappy, that's just too awesome. Sucker looks like it could bite you. One of the nicest character bows I've seen. Unrelated question: Tell me about that guitar?
-
Looks like a serious contender for March Self Bow of the Month. Impressive!
-
Pappy, I said it in the other thread, that is awesome work. Think I'll wait awhile to post my hog bow ;) Evry bow you do is a work of art..... Chris
-
It's only March and here you are going for bow of the year again. ;D That's a beauty. You really get the tiller right one those character bows. How are you grouping arrows with it?

BEAUTIFUL, Pappy!!! Pat
-
Thanks a bunch guys I really appreciate it more than yall know.Hillbilly the guitar is a cd player.I work for Miller/Coors dist. in Nashville as the fleet Mang.Been here 27 years and get a few perks.
That is a display and give away idiom. You can look around the room and see a lot of that kind of stuff.JD it is shooting good, better than I can I was worried about the string slap because of the handle ,but there is none.I told Marc the first time I shot it about the time I let it loose I remembered I had forgotton my arm guard witch I usually wear ,I remember thinking O $$##$ :'(
but no slap.Thanks again. :)

I can picture you drawing the center line down that. Outstanding of course.

frank
-
I am like Justin, can't decide if I like the character or the tiller the best. Absolutly awsome bow. Kenneth
-
Beautiful bow, Pappy - but I wouldn't let that snake play around on your pool table - he's gonna ruin sombody's bank shot - big time! :o
I particularly (of course) like the two FD pics and am putting them on my Traditional Bows Drawn pages but if you tell me you don't want me to, I will pull them. They'll be next to the last two on Page9 (soon moving on to Page10). Thanks. (I love Snakey bows!!!) Thanks.
-
Thanks again guys.Ber643 that is fine with me just glad you want it on there. :)
Pappy

Thanks about the TBD pages and my site, guys - please visit often - it is ever-growing in all areas, especially the Traditional Bows Drawn galleries. I also got a nice message from Manny who saw tpoof's post about it while he was admiring Pappy's bow. He wasn't even aware he was on the cover page, as i started that section just abnout the time he moved "to the mountains" and was out of touch awhile. Please feel free to visit, encourage your friends to, and submit Full Draw trad bow pics to my e-mail. It is all non-profit and just a personal site, and the TBD section is to promote Traditional bows and archers - like this one in this thread. Thanks again. :)

Pappy that is a real nice bow. marlon
-
Thanks Marlon,I am really enjoying shooting it,when I can find the time.Maybe after this
weekend I will have more time.
Pappy
-
It shot good but everthing was left,It was no where near center shot, most of mine aren't
but this was a little worse ,so I upgraded the rest area day before yesterday and shot it yesterday
and that was all it needed.Sometimes it only takes a little.

That's a great bow and some great pics as well! I am going to have start using Tru oil for my finishes, it looks awesome!
-
Pappy, that is just knock down gorgeus!
-
Thanks woody, mamba that sure helped the shooting of this bow.The sister I am going to move up
1 curve and it will be prefect, don't know why I didn't do it on this one. :)Just had a brain ##$@ ;D
Pappy
-
Pappy, I was thinking and now my head hurts. Ill just ask the question then I can stop thinking. ;D I have noticed that a lot of your bows have a ton of snake in them, but from the side profile they show none. Do you straiten them so they are strait from the side view? Justin
-
yes I do justin.I put them on a form and take the propeller out and flatten them if I can.Its not absolutely necessary but it sure makes the tiller easier to see. This one had a hump right out of the handle kind of like the one GregB's had just not quite as bad.
You can't always get that out but you can get some of it.
Pappy
-
I bow down to you!
That is the best looking bow I have seen in a long time.
If not ever. You are a fantastic bowyer. Thanks for sharing
it with us.
Jignfrog

Going to take it out for the real test in the morning, got to pull some stands and do a little
Turkey scouting, opens next week,so I thought I would do some stump shooting.Been so busy with the shoot we just had and the Classic coming fast ant had time except on the practice bails.
I'm going to take it out into the real world and see what it is really made of. ;D
Pappy
-
Pappy, you did a fantastic job on that bow. The tiller is outstanding. Well done. Jawge
-
Thanks Jawge, that means a lot coming from you. :)
Pappy
-
Ya Pappy, don't lay it down in the woods, you will scare the crap outa somebody :o I really like that arrow pass..and of course it looks more like a snake than a lot of snakes I know..Beautiful Bow..
-
Wow Pappy, Thats an awsome bow...looks almost alive. I love the tiller also. Good Lord willing I'll get to come up in may and see it in person....Luv it....
-
I took it on it's Madden outing Sat. to Ft.Campbell for a shoot, you talk about looks it really got them.It shot surprising good. The cut in made all the differences.Sometime they just need a little something else.I don't want one that just looks good,it's got to shoot well also. Thanks for the comments. :)
Pappy
-
I bet people didn't leave you alone a minute ;D ;D...must have turned some heads
-
That is a crazy bow. It makes other bows look so dull and lifeless. Great work. Im a newbie but it doesn't take an expert to see that.
-
It did turn some heads Manny,I think it may have got some converts in the process, the wheel boys see it and just can't figure out how that could shoot and when it dose they say WOW :o ,can you hunt with that. :)Thank WIBOWYER I really appreciate that.
