Well deer seasons out here in WV. I'm back to building bows and arrows. Cut a few dsogwood today and saw a bush that I cut a couple shoots off it. I'd like to know it's name. Anyone know a web site of WV bushs or of the eastern US that might help me out.

Can you post pics of the shoots you got and if possible the plant itself.

I can't post pics but it has darker than gray bark. With lighter pin size specks pepper all through the bark. Straight shoots . Dos'nt grow like dogwoods but I think it may be some type . Im not sure.
I need to know also if you know the real nname for sourwood trees.

The botanical name for sourwood is Oxydendrum arboreum.
You say it doesn't grow like a dogwood. There are tree, shrub and groundcover types of dogwood(Cornus) so it could very well be a dogwood. Where do you live? That can narrow down the possibilities.
