hello folks,
just wanted to inform you that gino has created a new, temporary home for the English-Warbow forum.
Can be found on
belabear
-
That's nice bela but if they want the link to the new board they can message you. PA might not like you putting the link here, especially after they have taken the time to create this forum just for you guys.

I do agree with you there Marc, I don't see the point in everyone moving around like this. PA is as good a place as any for us to exchange ideas. I have a feeling Gino must have been setting up his forum in parallel.
-
Primitive Archer has the resources to keep this forum open for twenty more years. I don't see the point in burning out one temporary administrator after another.

I think it's also easier to run a forum in the US - you have more of a free speech philosophy.
-
I'm kind of confused on why you want a "TEMPORARY HOME" for the warbow forum when you have a perminant home right here. This also allows exposure to bowyers who would not usually spend much time on the warbow forum. If we want to keep our arts alive we must find new people to teach and pass on the art too. Justin

Not to mention that Primitive Archer has printed tons of great articles on the warbow by Roy, Pip and others over the past 15+ years. PA is dedicated to growing worldwide interest in classical forms of archery. This is what they're supportive of and they do it 24/7. For them it's not a hobby, it's a mission.

Hello Jd, I do hope that is not a dig at myself. I have the resources to keep any forum I wish open and might I add I am not 'burnt' out, in fact quite the opposite. Our forum is merely on hold and I'm glad to see that the word of the warbow has spread as a result. I set up our website and later our forum, to promote the warbow amongst a wider audience and it has more than done that, as this section proves. To me it is more than a mere 'hobby' but it is not a business.

Nick,
I'm sorry that came across that way. I in no way intended it to be an insult. I am incredibly grateful for what you have been doing to popularize the warbow through the site and forum and youtube. I was just saying that it seems unfair to ask you or anyone else to bear the full burden of responsibility for keeping a forum up and running. If it's a full-time job (without pay) for you and you have better things to do--than it is unfair for the warbow community to expect you to work that hard for nothing. All I was saying was that PA would be glad to keep this forum open forever and the workload here is spread thin enough that no one is getting over-worked. It's the people that make the forum good anyway. I'm not concerned with where we meet, but why not here?
Again, I'm sorry about that friend. I've been hoping you would show up here--I hope this hasn't given you too much of a bad taste for this forum.

I hope all you guy's don't cut and run. This new site has been refreshing and informative. As I guess would be expected with all the new skilled bowyers coming on.You guy's have given me a whole new view of bow's.You got me looking at my staves going"hmm,I could finish you without having to remove so much wood" :)
And heck, then I'd have to go chasing around on other sites to see what Jaro is stirring up. ::)

;D
Some members from Nicks forum couldnt register here (it took me a couple of days and a few emails to admin) so they started there own temporary board,i can understand that, we all want to talk Bows and online is generally were most of us do our Bow talk, people just stare at me glassy eye'd if i mention WarBows in public :D.
The arguments what went on when the forum was just getting started allso left a bad taist for a few, some very experienced archers were being told they knew nothing or there Bows were meaningless and that never goes down well does it? ;D.But some fair points were being made and not everyone speaks English as there first tongue,so confusion can set in and Bang,Boom the Wars started again ;D.I personnaly dont mind a good argument as long as its kept clean and the insults are at a minimum (a bit of nation bashing's allways fun ;))but i wasnt involved ,just an amused lurker ;D,i thought it was a great topic!
Alan doesnt feel comfortable because of the hunting aspect of the site,i didnt think he would come on at all!the guys a devout Vegetarian and he doesnt even have any animal products on his Bows, thats why he used the fake horn for his new WarBow.Nothing wrong with a man with principles and he practices what he preach's,except he doesnt preach ;).
Well anyway,i think most are gonna stick around as its a great forum and the more WarBow forums the better, were all learning from each other here.
I like this forum and i'm really enjoying mooching through the other threads,i'm not a hunter anymore and i'm not really into seeing dead animals (i never watch the video's of the kills) but its not a big deal for me and i like the Bows!you people are using what you hunt and killing it with respect.Trophy hunting i dont agree with,i just think its wrong but i just wont go into threads like that, certainly not going to preach to any bugger!

Well said Loki.
I wasn't aware of people having problems registering. Please PM me with problems of that nature so we can get people on here.

I'm sure JD was not slinging insults as this is not our way. PA will go on with or without this forum but since it is set up now, why not take advantage of it? If there are problems registering then this can be sorted out
You may have noticed that building bows is more than a hobby for most of us. Still if a person is looking for a hobby then building bows is a good one
-
There might have been problems because of the email addresses and not knowing if it was spam or not. I know that a few people emailed me and i got them on the board.
if people cannot get logged on they need to let us know. We are not trying to keep anyone out on purpose. :)

-
Bruce,Maybe you could try Justin Snyder. He has bison horn.I got some from him and it will definitely work.
-
At long last. Took me three attempts to register.

Hello Glennan Glad you are here.marlon ;D
-
Hi Glennan, good to see you again.
-
Guys
We are getting so deluded with spammers trying to get in that it makes it hard to tell friend from foe. When a friend tries to register they should fill out as much infomation as possible and maybe add a signature that a bowyer would recognise so we can open the doors for him, or her.
-
Iīm sorry that I caused such a ruckus, but I think both forums have their use.
for instance dates for shoots in England on the englishwarbow forum.. I donīt think there is a chance for me to get to a shoot in the US, but GreatBritain isnīt that far from Austria, so Iīm quite interested when shoots will be....
I hope Nick will keep me posted!

Belabear,
No problem. There's plenty of room for both. We just wanted people to understand that this forum will remain indefinitely and we would like to keep all the good traffic going. We didn't start it as a temporary patch, but in response to increasing global interest in warbows.
Glennan!
I've been wondering where you've been. Good to see you here.
J. D. Duff
PS: is E-n-g-l-i-s-c-h an antiquated spelling?
-
I think Englisch is a German spelling ;D.
Nice to see you Glennan!
-
If someone will inform us of shoots or happenings, no matter where they are, we will post that information here on PA for all to see. ;)
I am happy to see lots of new folks here. I have only built the one "72" War Bow" and don't know how many more I will build( I like to be able to shoot bows I build! ::)) but I throughly enjoying reading the posts about them and seeing you guys pull(and shoot) these incredible artillery pieces.
Welcome to PA. Ya'll have a whole different look at the world of archery than most of us here on PA are used too. I think it is a big PLUS to the PA site. A site is only as good as it's members so lets make this one of the best war bow sites in cyberspace. Pat

Hey Folks, Gino here.
Just wanted to make sure that you all realised that when I set up the other warbow forum it wasn't intended to segregate anyone or take members from you. We had lost the original forum for people interested in warbows and we were struggling to find one place where we could all get access to be able to communicate with each other and stay in touch. I had trouble getting onto here a few times but made it eventually (see!).
Theres been a bit of confusion over the "temporary" issue of the forum I set up. I have no intention of shutting it down at any point in the future, but I made it clear that if Nick ever felt like he wanted to host the forum again at www.englishwarbow.com then I would close down my forum and let his be the primary warbow forum again, as it used to be. If this isnt the case then mine would stay as it is.
It's nice to see that you've created a warbow section for us in your messageboard and I appreciate the work put in. I look forward to sharing any information between forums and members, after all we're all in it for the same thing.
Thanks,
Gino.
-
Gino, Thanks for the reply. There is plenty of room for both sites. We can and will compliment each other. When we opened the war bow thread here on PA it was at the request of JD Duff, one of our members and a website moderator. We were filling a vacancy with a thread similar to what you all had, to accommodate the war bow buffs that lost their(your) war bow site. I believe I read the word "temporary" early on and I think we may have taken that another way than intended. ::) That is why we proclaimed our permanency. As long as Primitive Archer Magazine is around, the website will be around...and if I have anything to do with it, that will be a long time. ;D
I hope there are no hard feelings about this matter and look forward to working with you guys to
fulfill the need for reliable information about war bows and related topics.
Thanks again for chining in. Communication is what this is all about! Pat

For all of you on the warbow site that are here mostly because of that interest, please know that I do my best to get events onto our calendar whether in the US, or overseas. This is a global forum. I put the events on this forum calendar, and on our website calendar www.primitivearcher.com and the events then make it into the magazine. We have some groups that pay for advertising in our magazine. So to respect their investment, what is printed in the magazine is the event, date, and place. I put a bit more on the websites but our advertisers get directly linked to their websites.
I mention all of that because I want to encourage you to send me an email or a pm and let me get your event put on the site. Also if you post it yourself I will link it to the calendar page. We try hard to keep a community going and have found that by posting events people can make plans, meet, and trade information and learn from each other in person. Check out the events page if you haven't already.
Soooo shoot me an email!
