Ok so I need to start a list of who has shipped and who has recieved thier bow. All I need is ( Shipped and recived) if that is your status. So far from sifting through the (whats the count thread) I have that these peo uple have already shipped. Please correct me if im wrong and add weather you have recieved your bow as well. When I have you down for sent and recieved please delete your post so this isnt 15 pages long. Thanks and ill update the list ASAP Also if you have recieved a bow from someone on the list and I dont have them marked as having there bow shipped let me know same goes if you have shipped a bow and you know they have recieved it thanks, im trying to weed through old posts to find the info but its pretty strung out so any help would be great.

Ya im not sure why some people in this trade are having problems letting the person who built there bow know when they recieve it at the very least with a PM I would suggest sending the person you built for a pm and asking them if they recieved it ::)

Brock, did you get a tracking number from UPS? Should be able to check online if it was delivered.
My trade victim should be coming home to tube on his doorstep today, according to the Fedex tracking :) I can't wait. The anticipation of having your gift delivered is almost better than having your own bow arrive!

Cam i agree the tracking number will tell you if it arrived but i have tracked packages being delivered to me and when I did it said it was delivered two days prior and I had no package. They dropped my package at the wrong address just down the street and no one lived at the house so it could have sat there forever had I not reported it and they did a investigation as to where it was dropped off.

I have sent mine, but haven't received and I have no idea who is building mine or if it's been sent. I agree it is a bit confusing (but fun) not knowing if you are supposed to be keeping an eye out for a package or not.
For myself I just made sure to get insurance and confirmation for mine, so I had piece of mind that it was received.
Thanks for setting this up and all the work you're doing by the way Josh I know all the guys really appreciate you taking the time to do this.

Usually January is the time to start a trade bow swap because it takes at least until July to get them all out. ;) I'm sure we'll get another one going in January.

Somehow missed this. I have received mine from John K. I am in the process of applying finish to my 4th try for a bow to send. It's had 100 arrows through it so I'm pretty sure this one will make it. Should get it mailed out this weekend or the beginning of next week. Sorry for the delay.

I'm still working on mine. I've had the worst luck, had my 3rd bow blow up on me 4th of July weekend. My fourth attempt is coming along nicely and I should have it finished up this week for shipping. I think I was trying to push the limits with my first few so I played it safer on this one with regards to length and width of the limbs.

I had it mostly done by deadline but had a few touch ups and a couple hundred arrows to put thru it before I felt good about sending it. So I called Clint on the 3 rd of July and let him know i was running behind but would be done in a week. It took me two. He was ok with it.
I had many things been going on in life and things tend to get in the way. So don' t give up. Just call your guy like I did and let him know your still comin and he will be ok with it. Danny

I just figure the people waiting get some free patients tokens to redeem >:D O:) >:D I think most of the guys on here sort of understand when we do these trades a few of us end up waiting. some of us just need reminding, sometimes, that waiting builds character.

I did the same Sidewinder, sent my recipient a message to let him know I was working on it and not to worry that someone forgot to make it. I had my 2nd bow blow up during final tillering 3 days before the deadline. Then I've had another one blow up since then. I was glad he was ok with it being late, he said it was no issue. Took some pressure of me, which is why I think my 3rd one blew up because I was trying to rush the bow up to tiller. So now I'm taking my time and doing it correctly and barring any setbacks should ship out soon. Should be able to bring to final tiller tonight or tomorrow night, final sanding and finishing and shoot in this weekend hopefully.

I was glad to get the call about my bow running late. I knew that I wasn't forgotten, and I didn't have the daily dissapointment when the mailwoman didn't drop off a long tube. And, the bow was well worth the wait ;D

The belly of the one I'm making is dark with age...it might look like I toasted it. I'll scrape it when I do the final tillering so the entire bow will be the nice golden color... ;D

OK guys, we have quite a few guys that have not shipped bows. We are way past the deadline and fringing on the rediculous!!! It is time to put other things aside and get your promised work done.
If you are in contact with your recipient and they are OK with this that is fine. If not, PLEASE contact your recipient and let them know the statis or the bow you are making for them.
If you have recieved a bow but haven't completed or shipped one out you might consider sending the bow you recieved to your recipient.

Shipped mine on Tuesday as I stated but I haven't heard anything from my recipient, but last time I messaged him he said he was on vacation with family so he may not be back yet. I'll see if I can find the tracking to confirm it got there, it was supposed to arrive on Thursday.

Joel, communication is all I ask of anyone. Thanks for that. There are a few guys that we haven't seen or heard from for a while and if they will contact their recipients things will be OK.

I know most folks here on PA are people of their word. Please contact your recipient and let them know what's up! I know stuff happens that can delay these nonessential projects but if you signed up for this trade you have had over 7 months to make it right...and what about common courtesy!! How hard is it to drop someone a line for an update on your progress? We have a list of all that signed up for the trade and who sends what to whom so we know who you are! >:D

wow-what a small world the primitive archery community is.
so i get this message from the guy i made my trade bow for. had it just about finished up and it was the only bow i worked on at mojam. well, met a real nice fella named brock, at mojam. we visited numerous times over 5 days. camped just a few spots apart. shared food and adult beverages and stories. never even entered my mind. but yup, he was the guy i was making that bow for. ha! roflmao....brock it was a pleasure to meet ya sir. man, now i really feel bad that bow came in at the light end of yr requested range. well, it outta make a good target bow for ya. ;D i know you can pull one way heavier than that. but ya got some long arms. reckon you can squeeze another inch or two (and thus a few more pounds)outta the draw...sure am glad i didnt cut them arras down either...ok good story for mojam next year!

Brock, we are hunting public land but hiking in through the back door. ;D Kenneth(Little John) has hunted this area for about 20 years. He's packing most of the camping gear and food in the next couple of weekends so we will be able to pack in with just cloths and bows, etc. I hunted with Kenneth in '06 so I'm somewhat familiar with where we will hunt. Last time I was there the elk forgot to show! >:( Kenneth and his wife Kathie raise and train Paint horses so packing out won't be a problem if the elk cooperate. ;)

I still have not received my bow. Considering what was going on with my house the first week of July I didn't mind much. Ups pulled in the drive today, got all excited for a second, but it was a box for the Wife. I'm a patient guy, but would like an update. Thanks.

Dave your bow will be in the mail on the 19th. I just don't have the funds to mail it out earlier. It took me over 3 weeks to get my replacement wood for your bow, I thought I had been good at keeping Josh updated but apparently not well enough...

Well, we are getting very close to the end of the 2011 Primitive Archer Bow Trade. I think all of the bows have been accounted for with a few that are yet to be shipped. If you have not recieved your bow please contact me or ElkTracker and let us know.
I will say this trade has been almost a total success. We did have one(I think that's all) mishap but I think we got it worked out. There are still a few bows that have not been shipped but I have been told by each sender that they are soon going out and that the recipient has been notified.
Thanks to all involved in the Bow Trade. We will probably have another trade begining after the first of the new year. One request that I do have with the next trade is please don't wait until the last minute to get your trade bow started. Get it started early and get it out as soon as possible. We all know that "things" can and do happen that put a strain on our lives and these "things" can and sometimes do get in the way of us building our bows to send out.
Also, and I want to be completely clear about this...This bow trade is for anyone that wants to get inolved, whether you are a seasoned bowyer or just a beginner. When you sign up there is a possibility that you may recieve a bow from a newbie. If you don't think that a newbie's bow is a worthwhile trade for one of your bows, PLEASE DON"T SIGN UP! Like I said before this years trade it is not about the bow you will recieve! It is all about building the best bow you can(no matter your skill level) for your recipient.
SO, be thinking ahead of time about the stave you need and the bow you will build for your recipient...but please don't begin your bow until you find out who was chosen for you and build their bow just for them.
Thanks again to all that participated...and a special thanks to Josh (ElkTracker) for all he did to make this trade a success. 8)

Thanks Pat & Josh...excellent job and I am grateful for all the behind the scenes work you all did to pull this off. It was my first time and I had a ball and really enjoyed making, receiving and seeing all the wonderful bows from all the talented bowyers on this site. I am already looking forward to the next one.

Good to hear it got there safe. I'm glad you like it. I had a heck of a time getting the finish to dry well so I wasn't able to put as many coats on as I would have liked. It has 4 coats of tung on it, you might want to put another coat or 2 of finish on it at some point. And in case you were wondering the skin is Argentine Boa. Have fun with it!

When I got back from Colorado there was a long triangular Priority box waiting for me from Half Eye. I opened the box to find not one but two beautifully made Woodland type bows and a "moose" arrow with stone point. One of the bows is a scalloped edge bow and the other is a cable backed bow. I'll take a few pics soon and add the description that Rich sent along with the bows and arrow.
Thanks Rich, these will take a place of honor in my collection of wood bows and arrows and will be shot and not just be wall hangers.

Awsome It was VERY nice of rich to volunteer to make a bow for anyone who wasnt going to get one and because a cirtian person wasnt going to ship a bow to his recipient, Pat B gave his up to that person and Rich (half eye) made one for pat.

Still waiting on mine. My guy pm'd me a couple weeks ago though, so I think we're good. Just glad I was able to get my recipient his bow. Hoping to see pics of it though as I didn't have time get any before shipping it.

I'm a bit tarty here to post pics of the trade bow(s) I recieved.
These two beautiful bows were sent to me by Rich Rousseau(Half Eye). They arrived at my home the day before I got back from Colorado. What a pleasant surprise to greet me home.
Being true to his tradition here on PA Rich has expressed his take on two Native American , Eastern Woodland style bows; a Cree cable backed bow with slightly reflexed tips and an Ojibwa(Chippewa) scalloped edge bow with typical carved nocke and tips. Also he sent a "fat head" moose arrow. It has a thick shaft with self nock and a stone head hafted and turkey feathers tied on. Apparently these heavy arrows were shot at moose as the hunters paddled their canoes along side a swimming moose. Penetration was more of a concern than good arrow flight at that point blank range.
Thanks so much for these incredable little bows and the arrow, Rich. They will be a cherished part of my bow and arrow collection along with your note as documentation of their source and history.

Not sure but I think its just a matter of people letting me know they have shipped there bow off? Buckey thats a thought but the people who havent shipped there bows (if thats the case) need to get it done like yesterday weeks ago. As pat said in an earlier post if need be they should ship the bow they recieved in the trade.

was just wondering-where are all the photos of these bows, full draw, being shot,
exclamations of joy in receiving a wonderful bow from a fellow member?
a few builders put up pix as they were being made,
and a few recipients added some pix and comments.
but weren't there like 60 or so participants?
man, i got two extremely nice bows.
and i too am guilty of not adding pix after receipt.
tho i did let grunt know just how much i love these bows.
are you guys still thinking an article in pa magazine?
have you received lots of photos and comments for that?

I would say probably half of the participants posted photos and expressed there excitement. As far as the article goes it has been written and submitted to the editor of PA magazine and I did get some good pic for it as well, now it is just up to them if they want to put it in the magazine.

Got home late last night to find a long package ;D I opened it up to find that JackCrafty had sent 2 beautiful native style bows. One is a neat little gullwing bow with I think a sinew string and the other is a flatbow. Both bows are Osage ;D Thanks Patrick, it was well worth the wait!
I'll try to get pics up this weekend.

Josh I know it has been offered already. So here it goes again. I am willing to build or give away one of mine if these gentleman didnt get bows. Thats horse crap and the builders shouldnt be allowed to participate again unless its a SERIOUS reason.

I understand and that may be taken into consideration once we get a update from them next. I know that both participants have excuses or had them for a while but there comes a time where if you dont see your self being able to finish your end of the deal you ask for help and the kind folks here step up and make things right. But I just dont like the idea that these two guys got there trade bows and arent returning the favor. Pat already said somewhere that if you werent able to complete the bow in time then you should step up and send off the bow that you recieved. Even if the bow was the wrong weight or draw length its better than nothing!
We will see where this goes hopefully just turning up the heat under the rear end of them will get some results!!! But I have been wrong in the past so who knows, At the least JUST SHIP THE BOW YOU RECIEVED TO THE PERSON YOU CANT SEEM TO FINISH A BOW FOR.
I also know that the two fellows that havent recieved there bows yet arent probably worried about it but that doesnt make it right!!

If these last two trades don't go through and there is no legitimate reason or excuse, could you PM me their names, Josh? I have a special place in my little book for people that do that. That way I'll have a record in case they are forgotten a year from now when the trade starts again.

Yes I will let you know thanks and if im not mistakin the trade is gonna be starting back up for this coming year soon we had all the names and marry was drawing the names from the hat end of Feb last year so its almost been a year since the names were givin out.

I know that these forums are just something to do on the internet to some but to others like my self I honestly feel like I make true friends and connections with people and PA is something I look forward to everyday. Just some food for thought and that is your reputation on here may not go any further than on this message board but I for one would much rather treat people on here as I would treat the guy I am looking at face to face. If you join one of these trades and think you can just bail out because its just a internet forum and ill never see any of these guys just remember allot of people are watching and we will remember that. I would suggest if you value your reputation on this forum quit hiding behind computer screens, buck up and finish your end of the trade period! ;)

Soy yes there will be a 2012 bow trade and I would say it can start anytime now. I would like to head that one up too but I have a baby gonna show up in the next 2 wweeks give or take and am in the process of getting a new job so someone else will have to head the trade up. I will be able to help in any way possible though.
