Title: More help....
Post by: triggerfinger on July 19, 2011, 01:15:21 am
I spent this afternoon workin on my tonnage.  I was able to get 3 points in 4 attempts,They are all very primitive but  2 are very usable the third is kinda....rough.   Anyhow I mostly got lucky in the spall and ended up with a failry flat piece on 2 and used glass on the third.  My problem is I cannot thin woth a darn, especially with a PF.  The flakes are short and thin.  Im knapping right on the leather on my leg.  Should i get a notched pad like PMJ has on youtube.

If your pressure flaking on your lap your angle could be wrong. Also if your holding the piece firmly on your leg your flakes could be terminated short & not allowed to travel.
