Just finished this bow and thought i'd post a few pics.
It's a sinew backed juniper, 54 inches (before recurving) and 67lbs @ 27. The overlays are ebony and the handle some raffia twisted into cord and stained.
The fps is with a 520 grain arrow.

Beautiful Bow! Looks like a hard shooter. Did you use steam or dry heat for those curves?
-
Very nice work i like that bow allot any crysals in it???
-
Very excellent bow, Mike. The curves, the artwork, the speed and the perfect tiller make is a real beauty!!! 8) Very well done!!!

Beautiful bow, love that full draw profile.

Howdy, Nice work. The full draw pic shows very nice tiller. More pics of the paint on the back would be nice.
Yeah, let us know how you got those recurves! My attempts at steaming western juniper haven't worked so well.
Oh, and my crony has never shown a message like "IAF.i". Please interpert!

Very nice tiller Mike. 183fps?
-
Love it! What method did you use to recurve the tips. Flipping tips has been my arch nemesis and I'd like to build one
-
Beautifull bow, great tiller and profile, chrony, 188?
-
Nice looking Juniper, Mike! Like the paintjob, especially!
-
Mike that is one of the best sinew backed junipers that I've ever seen. Excellent profile, curves are perfect size and the paint scheme completes the package well. The stats show what a great performer you have as well. Sinew backed Juniper is becoming one of my favorite bow types. Congratulations on a very sweet bow!

Beautiful work, love the grain on the belly and especially like the paint job.
-
Thanks for all the kind comments. Juniper and sinew is a great combo - maybe my favourite ;D
I bent the recurves with steam, around a form with a steel strap to stop any splinters lifting on the belly. I left them quite thick just in case of any splinters but had no problems. I let them heat up for about 30 mins then tightened the clamps a bit more every 10 mins. One thing I do with juniper is once the tip is fully bent around the form and clamped in position I give them a quick blast with the heat gun just to make sure it's hot enough to take the shape...not sure if it makes a difference but I only got a tiny bit of spring back once out of the forms?
My chronos screen isn't too hot anymore after getting hit by a .22.... ::) it says 186.1 fps.

well executed design , tiller is great

Great looking bow Mike. There are some trees up on a mountain here in Thailand that look something like juniper and I am thinking of taking a limb off one soon to see what they are liked sinew backed. Randy
-
Sweet bow! What is the limb width?
-
Thanks again for all the nice comments!
Hi Randy - go for it, if it is juniper you will like it, it works soooo well with sinew - it's almost a magic combo 8)
Catnapper - the limbs are a shade under 2 inches out of the handle and gradually taper to the base of the recurves.

Beautiful bow!
