Title: Western Kansas muley
Post by: Josh B on December 12, 2011, 08:32:43 pm
I made an Osage longbow for a friend of mines son last September .  It is 76" ntn 50#@36", no that's not a typo , the young man has a 36" draw!  I would normally agree that it doesn't take much Osage to make a bow, but this is definitely an exception to that rule.  Anyway, I gave it to him on Oct. 1, 3 days later he takes this muley  with it.  They didn't get a pic in the field with it ,so they snapped this shot before taking it to the taxidermist .  Not bad for a first bow kill!   Well done Laramie, I'm proud to have been a small part of your accomplishment, Josh

Thanks Rich,  it was a joy to be a part of.  I put Zwickey no mercy broadheads on his arrows (didn't have any trade points in the truck with me when I made 'em) since he needed metal edge broadheads in case of a future elk hunt. Apparently they did the trick ,the buck never got out of sight before collapsing .  Josh

Thanx Pappy.

Lane , it is by far the hardest tiller job I've done yet.  I kept coming in underweight .  The only good part of it was, after you screwed it up, you could cut a few inches off each end and still have a pretty strong normal size bow.  Which I did. (4 times  :-[)    Josh

Congrats on the nice deer! That is the longest draw I've ever heard of! How tall is he? I'm 6'6" with a 27" draw :) but I got problems ;) snap shooter :)

Thanks everybody, I will pass on your praise to the young man. He's 6' 3" and really stout.  If he stands up straight and rolls his shoulders back like when he shoots, it becomes apparent why his draw is so long.  His dad's rendezvous handle is 'Badger', but I call him orangutan because of his long draw. It is a challenge when those guys ask for a bow!   Josh
