Very nice to see this bow/arrows.
The bow is made from black palm by the looks of it. No mahogany looks like that. When you look at how narrow it is it must be made from something dense and mahogany is not dense!

Nice bow! Looks authentic. Those arrows look sharp too, with some scary looking tips.
The bow is black palm. It's not mahogany at all. Mahogany doesn't even grow in Suriname...back then, any exotic wood was 'mahogany'.
Those arrowshafts look really thick. As if they don't belong to the bow? Any guess on the drawweight of the bow and the spine of the arrows? I know those arrows are supposed to be too long, but judging from the tips and shaft diameter, they almost look like spears, haha!

Cool thanx for the info on the wood il let my friend know about the wood he sed I can bring it home if I want :) I mite just do that and take some better pictures. As for the arrows they are a hollow reed like shaft kinda like a Cain there so old I can't spine them they have tons of cracks on them. And no idea of the draw weight of the bow i checked it on the floor like you check a floor tiller and it feels about in the 40-50 range

I have a black palm native bow from the Molonia tribe..think that's how to spell it....arrows tipped with poison and still deadly..from the late 40's era...story is a missionary found an dying woman and child deep in the jungle and took the child to the nearest tribe..the Chief being so appreciative gave his most prized possession in thanks..his bow and arrows..arrows are 4 ft long no fletchings ...wooden points notched and barbed, short bow maybe 50 inches 1 1/2 wide....of course vegetation string....would not even dare to string or shoot...saaawweeet...

Awesome Sterling.  I wonder if a similar bow can be made from coconut palm, unbacked.
