Title: Just a squirrel ....
Post by: lowell on September 09, 2007, 12:19:46 pm
would like it to be an elk but this is what I went for today.  Missed the first one, a grey, at 5 yards but got this one at 15 yards.

First blood for this bow that I made this year for deer this fall.  It's osage, 47# @ 26" and shooting rose shoots that I have been tuning all summer.  Gave me confidence that I'll be ready for deer in a few weeks.

After getting this squirell I was watching another in a tree and a group of crows came through making a lot of noise. They seemed to be following a coyote that passed me at about 40 yards. Wish he would have been closer!! Coyote in area seemed to keep squirells in the trees for a while.

Needless to say I had a fun morning!! ;D

I'll say - looks like a good time. Have done some stump shooting, but have yet to take game.

Squirrel hunting is the sport of kings... or not. It should be though :). More challenge and alot easier to drag outta the woods ;D. One squirrel= silencers, 2= moccasins, 3-4= bag/pouch, and 5=bow string. It's just like a carnival ;).

Lowell, it may only be a squirrel, but it is game.  I have never shot a squirrel with my bow, so thats one you have on me.  Our squirrels live in the rocks so I don't think I will be shooting many. Rocks are kind of hard on arrows.  ;) Justin

Good shooting, Squirrels are my favorite critter to hunt. I enjoy still hunting through the woods and stalking them when they are on, or near the ground. Deer are sometimes a bonus while hunting them.

Sound like a good hunt, them little buggers can be tough to hit.Love hunting them also
I do a lot more shooting than killing tho. ;D When I really want a mess I break out the 22.

That squirrel is bigger than many of the deer I've been seeing around here.   :o  Our squirrels are half that size--maybe.  Nice job!

:)You done good. They are a small target. I think I enjoy squirrel hunting as much as deer. If you can nail that little fella @ 15 yards the deer don"t stand a chance!
