Gun Doc’s trade bow “Prarie Rattler” sinew backed osage 5-curve bow wins June Backed BOM!!

Here is what Josh had to say about his bow: Well it's same as done. Sinew backed Osage five-curve with pyramid limbs and semi-static non contact recurves. 54" ntn, 60#@26" draws nice with no stack. The handle starts bending at about the same time the recurves open up a bit at about 23". The tips are hackberry, the skins are prairie Rattler covering 3 layers of Gus's fine Sinew. Thanks Gus! Simple b-50 14 strand Flemish string. The handle wrap is Bison hide with scraps (belly scales) from the Rattler skins sewn on for piping . A few more arrows and a few more coats of tru-oil and I'll ship her out to her new home. Which will be a couple weeks before I get around to doing. I hope xxxxxxxxxxx is patient! Thank you very much everyone. This means more to me than mere words could ever express. I never thought it was possible to be so humbled and simultaneously have my head swell three hat sizes! Naaaah no hard feelings there at all.Forget it.Fair and square all the way I say.There sure are a lot of saints or passing it on type people on here.That's a beautiful bow you made there.Bet it shoots like a rocket too.Did you guys finally get some significant amount of rain there?We are still dry as a bone with little teasings on 2/10ths of an inch once a week.How many courses of sinew did you put on the bow?

Sorry I see you put three on there.How long did you leave it cure though?I've got a proposed 62" hedge with a bendy handle going here and am thinking about heating it into a R/D form.It will be 1 and 1/2" wide at the fades and am wondering how narrow I can make my arrow pass.

I cured it for three weeks in the air conditioned house. No specific reason for that length o.f time. I was just out on the road that long. Momma called and said it had rained an inch and a half since last night and was still misting. That's the first significant rain since late June and that wasn't much. As far as the arrow pass, I don't go under an inch and thats only if the grain is right. It seems like any narrower is asking for the limb to split in half. I only had to crack three of them for that lesson to sink in. I'm a slow learner some times. Thanks again for the kind words Ed! I look forward to shooting with you again, Josh

Alright some rain!!!!!!Today we were blessed with some too.Probably same system.I'll shoot for an 1 and1/8" wide arrow pass on this bow,and thanks Josh.That clout shoot was a blast that's for sure.
