I needed this one for my confidence!! Got my first last year but with a gut shot. This one was a clean kill with a pass through right where I was looking. Deer piled up in under 70 yards and easy blood trail.
It was shot from a short tree stand on a fence row with an osage bow (48#@ 26") I made this summer and rose shoot arrows that I have worked on all summer tuning and 125 gr. Ace broadheads.
This one and a doe were coming at me on a fence row but got real nervous as I think wind was blowing close to there direction. Gave the "Lil Can" deer call a turn over to make it's call and it really seemed to ease the deer. First time I had tried it but seemed to do the trick!!
Now I feel the next one can be a bigger one!! ;)

Nice kill lowell, hoping for first with a selfbow this year, don't thing I will be to fussy ;)

Way to go, that's what it's all about. I'd be mighty happy to take one just like it. Looks like a lot of good meals and a lot of good memories.
-
I keep telling people to quit shooting the big ones, they taste like crap. You did great. Justin
-
did you post your bow here?? looks really nice, but can't see much detail!

Congrads! Any deer with your own home made equipment is a trophy!
-
Lowell, the big thing is you did it with the equipment you made yourself. Congrats!

I've said it once and I'll say it again.Any deer taken with bow and arrow especially self bow and arrow is a trophy IMO.Congrats tradrick

Way to go! Osage and Rose shoots, that's sweet!

This is my second this year and I said I was going to wait for a bigger deer... well it is, but just a little!!
Had a doe come in first and was probably at 12 yards but never presented a good shot and then walked away. This one was at about 10 yards and could not have given a better shot. Hit him in leg muscle but no bone and must have passed just above heart and got good lungs.
Wife said she saw a big buck cross road at 10:30 this morning headed to one of my stands so maybe that one will be next. LOL
Only have antlered tags left and don't really want to buy anymore antlerless tags.

Ahh, how sweet it is - success!!! I'm right behind ya, on first that is - I hope :D.
-
white wood,
Glad to show my bows. The strung bow is the osage I have been hunting with and the arrows and quiver I use.
The 2 right above are short bows I made that I hope use one for turkey next spring (unless I can make a better one before then).
The stack of wood to the right are future bows!!
The last picture is what I use when I don't want to walk to stand!!!
