Title: To film a hunt... which camera?
Post by: iowabow on December 05, 2012, 12:12:24 pm
I want to film how I hunt dirt/deer! What camera would you recommend for filming a primitive bow hunt? I was thinking that an arm mounted camera would be be best but I just really don't have any experience with this stuff. So my my question is what works the best under say 500 dollars?

I know that those "Go Pro" cameras are really popular with the adrenalin junky sports guys, like base jumpers, motocross guys, etc.  They come with all sorts of mounting brackets that could go on a bow, on a helmet, or your arm.  I think they go for around $300.  There's a new "Hero 3" out now, so maybe the older ones will come down in price, who knows.  Just google them and check em out.

the go pro is a great camera- i use one for surfing photos- it's waterproof and small, very tough. The problem is that the lens is so wide angle that things appear small in the picture- that is, if you were 20 yards away from a deer, it would be so tiny in the picture you couldn't hardly see it.

Hey Aaron thanks for the reply. I went to youtube and watched a couple hunts filmed with the go pro and you are right the deer are so small.
