Post by: Squirrelslayer on January 07, 2013, 10:16:08 am
im not sure if this belongs here so please move it if it is not in the right place, ok this may sound crazy but ive read online that you can eat fox meat if it's cooked alright, i ask as i may be getting a few foxes soon and it seems a waste to throw away what could be good meat, so if ya got any recipies let me know because id love to hear them.

cut into small pieces, dredge in seasoned flour and deep fry. That works for everything else, why not fox!  ;)

might try that, heres another recipie.

Step 1
Prepare a brine solution by mixing the salt with the water. Place the meat in the water. Add 1 cup water and 1 tablespoon salt to the meat until it is completely submerged. Add extra spices, if you prefer. Use a few slices of ginger or a fresh bunch of rosemary or thyme. Brine the meat for 12 hours and rinse before cooking.

 Step 2
Heat the oil in the saucepan and saute the onions until they soften. Add the meat and saute for several minutes to absorb the oil and onion flavor.

Step 3
Add the bay leaves, pepper, fresh ginger slices and half of the lemon juice. Carefully stir the pan ingredients to coat the meat.

Step 4
Add 1 to 2 cups of water. Cover the pan and simmer for 1/2 hour. Add the kale and simmer for another 15 to 30 minutes. Drain and reserve the cooking fluids when the meat is cooked through and the kale is softened.

Step 5
Beat the eggs in a large bowl and mix in the rest of the lemon juice. Pour the hot cooking liquid into the egg mixture slowly. Return the liquids to the pan. Serve the fox meat with crusty bread to soak up the liquids.

if i was you id try this, i would cut up all the fox meat and season with salt and pepper and abit of garlic. then get a large pan of water boiling nicely, get one full  house brick and add the meat and brick to the water, cook for an hour and half, then throw away the fox meat and eat the brick, lol i dont think i would like to try fox meat i have caught plenty over the years and  i doubt they would make good eating. if they taste as strong as they smell.  but good luck if you try keep us posted. :)

I don't think you are going to want to eat fox meat anymore after you have smelled them! They smell like skunks!

The fox and coyote was done on an open fire.Just a little of the backstrap. The beaver backstraps are good done in just butter-salt and pepper in a skillet(cast iron preferred)sometimes I,ll soak em in italian dressing overnight and have em for breakfast the next day.I did the muskrat in a crockpot with some seasonings and potatoes.Raccoon is not bad either. We soaked it barbecue sauce for a day and then cooked on an open fire as we were camping.Kill it and grill it!!!have a fantastic day!!!!!Lloyd
