I have just finished this little bow ,it is for a friends son. He is interested in Archery. He is shooting a fiberglass recurve now. I hope he loves this bow and keeps this love far into the future.
I enjoyed making this bow. It is 50" 20# @ 20" . It is made from a sweet piece of Osage. Which I got from Ridgerunner.
Hope you enjoy looking as much as I did making it.

Nugget, You are getting quite proficient with osage bows...big and little. Great little bow. I love planting those kinds of seeds. Way to go. 8) Pat

I do love my Osage. ;D I want to start using other wood. Come summer I am going to cut some Red Oak, Hickory if I can find some ,and some maple. All of which I have hear on the farm.
Thanks guys for the compliments. Pat I do love planting seeds .

Maybe the recipient will pass on this fine bow to a youngster in the next generation. Very nice bow and a considerate gift. Small, or not, it is a Nov Self BOM candidate.
-
Very nice. I think it looks great.
I've never made a kids bow from osage but have a stave that would be perfect for a shorter bow!! ;)
Your post has inspired me! 8)
Except I can get too many projects going. Just cut and scraped some rose shoots this morning too.

Go for it lowell ! ;D
Keep us posted.
Thanks Old Bow. I hope it gets passed on for along time.

awesome...

Thanks bowmo :)

I'm envious of the recipient of this fine bow. Straight lines with curves in all the right places. Maybe in many decades I'll be able to provide a son with craftwork like that :)
Thanks for sharing!

That's a very nice gesture, Nugget. I remember my first bow and i'm sure your friends boy will appreciate this one.

Thank you thank you and yes thank you ;D ;D ;D ;)
I sure hopes he likes it and uses it untill he is too big for it and passes it on to someone else. and so on and so on.

Fine looking bow, TJ. That should get him started off right.

Very Nice bow.
Glad to see some bows are being made from Osage that I cut.
Did that bow come off the side of the stave from below the knot?
If so, there must be a another grown man bow in that stave as well.

Yes I have the other piece in the shed . It is waiting on me to get busy removing all it's excess body and reveal it's inner bow.
-
Just cut off everything that does not look like a bow ;D It is that easy.

That is how I like to do it. I try to let the wood tell me what to do. I am a novice woodwhisperer. :-\
Will post as soon as I get it done. Hopefully if weather holds I am shooting for new years. We will be layed off alot of Dec. I think I will only work 2 weeks next month.
Santa will be on a very tight budget. I will be making alot of gifts this year. Jewlery , bows, arrows, arm guards, quivers, wall hangings, decrative nik naks. That kind of stuff. Stuff I make anyways, but now I will be giving it as presents.
-
TJ, those are the best kind of gifts. WalMart can't touch it! Pat
-
Thanks Pat . I do like give my handy work as gifts. Comes from the heart and soul.
-
I just delivered the bow to the father and he was very pleased. I hope the boy has an even better reaction.
Now the father might want one come the first of the year. Two seeds planted with one bow. Good odds
-
that is a fine bow, Nugget.

Thanks Bishop! I got your Pm and sent ya one back.
I asked the father to get me some pics of the boy with his bow. Maybe weather permitting a few pics of him shooting. Will see if he minds me posting them. I can't wait I am soooo excited.Wish I coulb be there .

thanks for the reply , nugget, the info you offered really got me off on the right foot, i find it interesting that folks get more excited about a bow they are making as a gift then a bow they are making for themself, if thats not part of the true spirit of trad archery then i dont know what is.....good medicine.
