Two years ago at the Classic Old Hippy gave me an arrow.  It is on display in my office at work.  I told him I was going to bring it back next year and have him sign it.  Well that Old Rascal went ahead and shipped me another arrow and this one is signed.  It isn't part of the arrow exchange but I wanted to post it anyway.  He told me I'd never shoot it because its to long for my stubby arms.

Thanks Old Hippy.

Glad that you like it you old rascal. The point is mook set with pitch in my famous hill cane, wrapped with sinew, 32 inches ling with self nocks. Not too pretty but will do the job.
Now Clint has to teach me how to make a pretty bow with the wood he is going to bring me to the Classic next year >:D.   Hope you like it little buddy.
   Peace, Hippy

Old Hippy, that point is the exact shape as the first Native American point I found on our property when I was around 5 years old.  I didn't even know what it was.  I picked it up and showed my parents because it was shaped like a Christmas tree.

Alright, here are pics of not one but two very nice arrows sent to me from Ed Brooks. Thank you very much! The darker one is a hand planed fir arrow from a century old barn beam with an obsidian point and the other is hazel with a bone point and natural cresting colors with a down/ marabou at the fletch. Thanks again Ed!

Clint, the same thing happened to me yesterday. Elijah, "Seminole wind", came over yesterday so I could help him with some string making for his 300# Osage bow. ::) While he was here he gifted me with a very nice arrow from that matched set he had posted a week or so, ago. he told me since he's leaving for Afghanistan in two weeks and will not get a chance to hunt with them he gave them all away.
I feel very honored to have it and if I get a chance that's gonna be the first arrow out of my quiver this year.

Just got mine.....thank you Mr. Mullet >:D took this picture of a very fine "normal sized" arrow with my newest midget bow.  Got to decide whether I really want to fling it at a deer, it's a damned fine arrow, and the only one I have with a coral head. ::) ::) ::)

Osage Outlaw- You're very welcome. I have it on good authority that this will probably go into your display case. However, should you make meat with it, just post some pics! :) That tip may need a little sharpening but not much. Enjoy!!!

I opened that tube at the nock end smiled real big and pulled it out to only have the fletching end come out. 3 people were watching me open it they said it looked like I lost my best friend. I am sad over it. I looked at them and said WELL CRAP THEY BROKE MY ARROW!!!! I will be giving USPS A PIECE OF MY MIND THAT IS FOR SURE. Cause they can not replace that!

Scott, I just talked to Eric and he was amazed that the arrow was broken. Said that the tube that he shipped in was one that a UV bulb came in for the fish pond. Anyway, he said that he would make you another and send it by US Mail this time. I have a good friend that works for UPS and he recommends using the postal service for shipping things.

OK folks, I feel real lucky here.  First off they came in a big PVC tube, and ready to travel.  Got these two beauties from Greg Anderson, Badly Bent.  Guys these are some top notch works of art. Not to mention when I do decide to crest, I usually use green, white and black.  The bone blunt has three lightning grooves in it too. These are AWESOME Greg, love the use of the turkey chest feathers too!!  Thanks BB! and Thanks to you Ol'Hippy Steve for thinking of this exchange.  My recipient should be glad I got these before finishing theirs.  :o ;) I've showed them off to family and friends in the last three hours. Have a gooder, I am! dpgratz

Whoo-hoo!  Got home to find a PVC tube that came in the mail.  Honestly, I had forgotten about the trade so didn't expect to see what I found inside the tube.  It is a BEEautiful arrow hand crafted by Mr. Neal Young (Patches) marked "2013 PA Arrow Trade".

He included a letter describing how this arrow accompanied him on hunts in the Missouri River bottom, Truman Lake and in the bean and corn fields in northern Missouri.  He explained how this was his first cresting job.  He described the arrow as having a generic Zwickey head.  With the "H" on the broadhead, I believe that it is a 1950-1960's vintage "Hi-Precision" broadhead.  Neal, it looks great!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

A coupla pics below...

WOW! Great arrow Ozzy: I got an awesome arrow from Ozzy, I did not get the pictures of it yet. it is a garden stake boo shaft with two fletch a stone point from Tracy, snake skin under the fletch. It got to go hunting in Washington lastnight, not that I really want to shoot this piece of art. I will try to talk someone at my house with a camera to snap a pic or two today. Thanks Ozzy. Ed

Received my trade arrow from R.Lusthaus, it's brilliant. The post office did everything in their power to destroy it but no dice (see the pic of the package). They had bent the shaft, and broken the tip of the beautiful bamboo head. just touched up the tip and pitch, and a little heat and she's good as new.

Ya make a tough arrow, sir. Tickled to add to my collection

Rich, you're fortunate indeed. The PO and their damned triangle boxes just weren't made for archery gear. I've been fortunate over the years but the only 2 bows that ever arrived broken came in those worthless boxes.

So please tell me, cause the damaged stuff is getting old, how do you send stuff thru the mail?  Put everything in PVC tubes?

Russ

It doesn't have to be PVC although that is most likely the safest. For some reason the post office seems to think anything in those triangular tubes can be pushed, piled, and jammed into any and all space available. They just aren't a very stable packing for breakable items. I also think they get jammed any which direction on conveyor belts while being sorted. Even a heavy cardboard rectangular box or round tube seem to hold up better. JMO

I just got back from a caribou trip this afternoon, and the Mrs. said that a tube came a week ago in the mail. I quickly opened a nice work of art from Dan (DGF). A real nice two fletched turkey feather with self nock, complete witha two bladed broad head. Thanks Dan, I am looking forward to shooting it in our deer season.

I havent received yet, but I havent been home in a week either.  I also haven't shipped yet.  My apologies to my recipient.  I did let old hippie know in advance that I would be late, but now that our Oregon archery season ended I can get caught up.

Two things:

I received my trade arrow a while back from dmc, it is a nice fir shaft he made from some really old cabinets, and a nice steel broadhead he made (would not have guessed it was homemade!), and a hardwood self-nock.

I have not shipped a trade arrow to my recipient yet.  I let ol hippie know I was going to be late, but I never thought it would be this late.  I have many times thought of doing the easy thing, which would be to grab an arrow from my hunting quiver and send it along, but from the get go I had an arrow in mind that I wanted to make for my recipient.  I want to stick to that and make it specifically for my guy.  So I apologize for the extreme tardiness on this, but I will get this trade arrow made and shipped...

Hey guys, I want to thanks to all that participated in the swap. I think it went well with only one or two mishaps a couple of slackers and one fagout. I think that you guys and girl are some of the most talented people that I know. The arrows that I received are outstanding and the arrows posted on the forum were works of art. I guess that I will have to start making some more for next time if you all are open to another trade.
Oh yea I just about forgot, Scottski, I talked to Eric yesterday and he is busy at work and deer hunting, so if it is OK with you, I will send you an arrow that I made.
    Thanks again everyone. Peace, Steve

Pretty sad this swap isn't 100% hippy. Its a damn arrow for heavens sake. A SINGLE ARROW!!!!!!!!!! It didn't have to be made at the time, just A SINGLE ARROW from your quiver. That's pathetic and inexcusable.

This was an excellent trade and I would like to participate again should you all decide.

And PD you are absolutely right, no excuse for screwing this one up.

My hunting arrows are in the house in plastic cases. ;) The ones in the shop are a mixture of everything and carbons.

Eric, better late than never.  I just completed my trade arrow (now your trade arrow Eric Ward!). Shipping today. Somehow I am relieved that my recipient is also late  :)
Hopefully, we are not banished to Eddie's little black book. If I am allowed to enter future trades, I will try not to sign-up for one right before my wife and I split-up and I find out my dad has stage IV prostate cancer.    ??? ???:-\ :'( :'( ::)
