Does anyone know where to find a good source of Tonkin shafts. Seasons around the corner & I find myself needing some.     Tower

Have you tried the local garden centers?  I'm not sure if what they sell is Tonkin.

I know Jaap (Nacht Wacht) sells Japanese bamboo. Most of the garden centers have the Tonkin cane.
They both make excellent arrow shafts.

Tower, look up A.M. Leonard landscaping supply out of Ohio. You can buy bundles of fairly straight Tonkin shaft that will last a long time. How many do you need? If is not a lot pm me and I'll get you some.

I bought some from Iktomi at the leatherwall, and I thought they were really nice shafts at a fair price.

I've never used the Tonkin cane and was wondering what should be the approximate diameter for a 30" arrow, #50-#55 spine? Thanks, Eric

Here you go rover! I get the 3/8 by 4ft 500 bundle and have real good results. Not too many throw aways. Eddie's got a dealer near him that has good ones also.

Don, they're in the mail today. The place here is called; Bamboo Supply. It's in Lakeland, Fl and the phone number is 863-644-9087. Ask for 4' bundles of 500, 8-10 mm. Tell them it is for arrows and they will pick out a good bundle.

I used to buy the 6 footers from Bamboo and Rattan Works on the east coast. They went out of business this year after over 100 years!  :'(  It's easier to find an arrow shaft within 6 feet than buying something shorter, plus you have plenty of stir sticks for paint left over!

Yes Sir, I hear ya...
I bought one last load of Rattan from em, for Kids Bows, the month before they closed their doors.
The man told me "we are retiring, Happily"...
And said, he couldn't see the business going to someone else...
