Some of the points I have found from around my area. Had a tonne more as a kid, ended up giving them away on necklaces or losing them.
Agate. My 5yr old found this a couple months ago.

I'm thinking Jasper. Found this under 3 feet of topsoil, in a railroad cut, sticking out of the vertical bank.

My prized possession of the collection. Found this when I was 11 years old, about 100 yards from our house.

Super cool!! Thanks for sharing. I have yet to find one myself. One of these days, one will jump up and bite me. ;)

Just walk around looking at your feet a lot! Some people have a sixth sense about finding arrowheads.....my Dad has been calling me 'eagle-eyes' since I was 6.

I reckon it is kinda like hunting game. Once your eye and your mind knows what to look for, you naturally start seeing it. My first rabbit hunt of the year is always tough because all I see are the runners. Later in the season, after I have hunted them a while and they should be much more wary, I start to see them sitting and holding tight. It's the curve of their back, the black of an eye, the hint of an ear.
Maybe if I knapped, I might start finding arrowheads faster, too. *sigh* Yet another reason for me to come over to the dark side!

I like that prized possession. Course I'm sure everybody does. I've only found a few in my day but wish I still had em all.

What state are you in?
-
British Columbia, Canada.

Awesome finds! What do they call that black material in your neck of the woods?
-
I'm pretty sure its 'black basalt'. Pretty much every arrowhead, scraper, or waste flake I have found around here is black basalt.
There is an ancient quarry near here where the natives used to get their material from.

Crazy how much you can learn from those items.
