Ya Guy, glad you got them up, I forgot. Can't wait myself. Last year was my first and had a great time. Everyone  was so laid back and very welcoming to a new guy like me. After a hour with everyone I felt like I was hanging out with old friends. I highly recommend this shoot to anyone interested.  Small enough where you can meet and talk to everyone but big enough to find company in any activity. Lots of bow building and plenty of guys to give beginners all the one on one you could want. I will be coming as early as I can so let me know when the gates open up Guy.

I am new to primative archery but have heard about this event for a long time. What is done ther? Is there an entry fee?
Title: Re: Marshall Primitive Archery Rendesvoux
Post by: chamookman on January 06, 2014, 06:51:18 am
No entry fees. Bows being made - shot - discussed, with plenty of show & tell. If You make one shoot/event in Michigan this year, and are interested in making a Selfbow - this is the one to attend ! Hope to see You there - Bob.

Bob you forgot to mention that cute little spaniel that will be there to!
Title: Re: Marshall Primitive Archery Rendesvoux
Post by: Buckeye Guy on January 06, 2014, 04:36:10 pm
No fee to get in
there are small fees to shoot , camp, things like that
As Bob said if you are interested in self bows this is the place for folks in this region to be . There are folks from Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, lncluding some Yoopers, and even Canada! Hope to see the boys from Tennessee and New York this year The knowledge of Self bows that is available at this event is well worth the drive.
The same can be said for flint knapping and other Primitive skills as well you just have to ask and you will receive.
If you miss out it is your own fault.
I am not sure how you could have more fun than we do at this event.
Hope to see ya there!
Guy

Pappy
Seeing the people at these events is the "special thing" for us that have been around !
Showing up and supporting these events is the important part, so them that are coming along behind us can have that "special thing" for them selves one day !
I thank you for all you do for PA , there are many folks that have those special relationships because of folks like you ! primitive archery has been good for us !
If you can work it out to come see us , I bet we will roll out a bit of red carpet for ya !

The rest of you folks reading this that have not become a part of the events such as Marshall and the Tennessee classic , these type of events are what have built and sustained the greatest hobby ( addiction ) that we could ever ask for
Please pic out a few of them and get to building your own special relationships you will be glad you did   !
Hope to see y'all some where along the trail !

Are you planing on a Tue pm or Wed am arrival ?
Speaking of ugly , anybody heard from BoardHawk  he seams to be quite lately.
I have plans to be in that state up north the next two weekends , if it works out I should be seeing a good many of the folks so we can finalize a few things and start really getting ready !
Have fun

My arrival plans will depend a lot on Paulys plans. I know he is taking a few more days off this year.

Chickenhawk doesn't like making bows anymore. But Im sure he will still come to a few shoots. I know he is joining as at Martins next weekend!

I'm hoping to take Wednesday off and leave right from downtown Chicago and come out Tuesday and be there by dark. If not working half day Wednesday and be out there Wednesday afternoon. I would like to get a few extra days out of this shoot considering it may be my only one this year. Got a family vacation planned real close to elm hall.

It is not looking like I will be there to talk with him , but should see any of you that are at Kazoo tomorrow.

The Mashall event was my second PA gathering and I finished I bow there that I started with Matt W at the TN classic.  Again, a great group of people and it was nice because even though I currently live in TN "about an hour from twin Oaks",  my day job takes me to Marshall about once a month, yes I'm a lucky guy!

I spend a fair amount of time in Marshall and when I asked people in the town "many of them hunters" about the Renesvoux, knowone knew about it. I did not find anything mentioned about it on the town Chamber of Commerce calendar or any local events info. I'm not sure if the people who put on this event want the general public to know about it but I thought I'd mention it.

This is a great event and in a very nice setting, I'm planning to go again this year!

It can be nice and cool like it was last year if it wants to! I loved the jeans and flannel shirt stuff we had. It was great shooting, building and all around good hanging out weather. 35 degrees in the morning made that coffee even better.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, trust me i hear it ALL the time from the other one - his osage bow doesn't have snake skins like Caleb's, I just can't compare to your level of work either  ;D

I'm hoping Jake does, he's training me for what i'll have to deal with in 10 years!

Bruce said he should have a new game for us folks at Marshall
He called it a milk jug shoot
It is a head to head competition for those who are into that sort of thing
We will also have a broad head shoot so bring them along
I think Mark is going to try to get the Squirrel shoot going also so if you want to shoot at moving targets you can try it out

If the Gaults new one arrives in time they are planning to come, also Jenni has a new one and she is thinking they may be down from Alaska in time to come ( depending on the spring thaw )  so we may still get some baby time even with out Boardhawk !

Glad to hear you plan to make the trip up, you wont be disappointed !

I will be there from which ever day the earliest arrival that I am notified of will be coming till at least Sunday noon !
Traditionally we wrap it up then so folks can get home for their Memorial services
If folks want to stay for Monday it is OK and if several stay I will
Last year I was there from Tue - Sun as some of the long time attendants wanted some time to catch up with each other before others started pulling in
I expect to be there at least that long if not longer this year
Cant wait to see y'all

That makes Pearl correct,  I stand corrected... :)  I should no better than to question experience.  ;D

I'm trying to get a guy from Indiana that lives amongst the great osage to come with me.  I may need a little help from you guys to encourage him to leave early Thursday.

Getting closer, the Wicki's are getting pumped for sure!  Sad that the Driezer's may be out; glad that they may be in!  We'll keep our fingers crossed here.  I saw a robin this morning!  Yes, the Wicki's usually do a liesurely pull out on Monday afternoon.

Pearly
Was gona ask if the camper means we finally get to meet this mythical wifey, but if your renting out bunks then I recon not !
We have a raffle to generate a little money to help keep things going, we draw the names out after the sat eve meal and we would be glad to have anything donated to the cause ! If we get a big item like a "Pearl Drums" bow we may decide to auction it off.
Mike tells me there was a good bit of clean up going on allready at Wider Creek so I may not head north as early as I first planned to but how ever early in the week any of you want to come let me know and I will be there (if I can keep the old truck going that long)
Hope to see ya all in 24 days or less !!!!!!!!!!!!

A couple of new developments !
Pearly we missed out big buddy, one of the locusts trees was cut down to keep it from falling on the Castle , it was firewood before I found out. What as shame ! We could have sold staves !
On a much brighter note ! I hear some folks are planning to come that we have not seen in a while,  Japp Koppedrayer (Yumi bows) plans to attend this year , and Bob Berg (Thunderbird Atlatl) is loading up for the trip from NY , it will be good to see them again!!!!

The wifey has been bringing this up it seems once a week or so...and a lot of folks were harping on me at the classic to be at Marshall this year...I'm starting to get the hint  ::) ...

Since there isn't a presque isle shoot(its the same weekend)some of the folks that attend there have said they might go to Marshall since that ones cancelled now. Chuck(holeinthebowchuck) said he might head that way,n I'd imagine at least one other Hawkeye bowman wood ride with him...hickory bill is thinking about coming out as well..as is rob(pahunter) ...so it sounds like the numbers are gonna be up again this year and Marshall is back on the rebound(hope so) ...osage outlaw n danzn bar will be there for there first time too...id sure hate to miss it,cus its shaping up to be a good one so far.

If you saw the elk hair coat at the Classic at Teresa Asbell's booth, I could be talked into trading.... We will keep you close by for sure
We have to get Bruce and Cindy close also as he is on crutches this year
Tom has a camper this year so he has to fit in also
will most likely put the Berg's and Koppedrayer's up front
we will sort it all out Wednesday but there are plenty of good spots

The camper is level full but without any pearwood this year it should be good to go.
Now for the truck, if I have promised anyone anything or you need anything you may want to remind me now !
especially since I won't be seeing most of you for another year!
most of you will be there by one week from today Woohoo!
See ya real soon

What are the fees? Range, park, etc.? Looks like early Saturday morning. Found some shafts that seem to work, at least when no one else is looking! Looking forward to my 3rd visit!

As luck would have it, or good planning on my part, I'm working in Marshall this week and will stop by around Wednesday night after work to hang out for a bit.  I'm putting the finishing touches on a bow I started at the TN classic with Matt W and will bring it by for any advice.  This one is a graduation gift for my nephew.
I won't be able to stay the whole  weekend but I will get so
E time in Friday and some sat.

Hey I was wondering if anyone attending would happen to have some 5/16" 30-35# spine shafts that they would be willing to part with and bring? I was going to whip up a batch for Landon earlier but life got in the way.

  Cannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnt wait! :D :D :D

Cody, I'm putting the finishing touches on a bunch of low 40's spined cane/bamboo/hill cane arrows.  He is welcomed to try them out and see if any fly straight enough to work.  I still need to wrap the feathers and put some field points on them but I'm hoping to get that done tomorrow.

Good to hear forest farmer...

Cody if push comes to shove he might be able to borrow a couple of my wife's...her arrows fly well out of all the 30-40 pound bows around my house

I'll be packing tonight to leave tomorrow right after work  ;D

Had a great time today. Fun course to shoot, friendly, like-minded people to shoot the breeze with, and smiling children of all ages carry bows and enjoying the day. Picked up some supplies from the Deshlers and Wirwickis, chatted with Norm Blaker, Pearly, Blackhawk, Buckeye Guy, paulsemp, Danzen Bar, Badly Bent, Dan and I'm sure I'm missing a few. Great weather too.

I had an absolute blast, as usual. Its hard to beat the people and the grounds. Marshall is a special place. Thanks for taking the time to take AND post all the pics Yoder. I never took one. It seems time goes by too fast as is and taking pics only slows me down!

It was great seeing all my out of state buds that I only see once a year, I live for these few days guys in May.

Great event, really glad I made it there. The setting and grounds were perfect for this type of event and as always the people who attend are the best. Made some new friends and caught up with some old ones, all in all a very relaxing and enjoyable time. Whole lotta fun on the course, in camp and around the pavilion. Thanks to all who had a hand in putting on this gathering.
Only regret is that I didn't get the camera out but twice and only took a handful of pictures. Got a few from the Sat. night dinner where we all enjoyed Paul's savory smoked pulled pork and other goodies. A few pics. from the late night bow building session and a couple from the last morning walk through the course.

Going through the pics made me happy that I was able to spent a little time with all of you, and sad that I wasn't able to spend more.
I'm finding that there is a real sense of community in the trad archery events and it gets better with each event I go to. I was happy to meet pearl drums, Greg semp, dansinbar, norm and many others during my quick stay.
I did manage to shoot a round with Cody "sorry about the arrows", and catch up with with Greg and Sharron and smokey.
Thx to miss heather and Matt for setting me up with two tracks, Chris and chuck have some great products and they a super nice people.

Special thanks to buckeye guy for getting people excited about this event, good job!
With any luck I will see you all at the Elm Hall shoot!

It's burned in our memories... eyes, noses & throats.

I again had a great time this year. It was great to see so so many people I haven't seen in so long, and meet new folks as well. I wish I had some pics to show but I didn't take any while out this weekend. Maby next year.

What A great surprise it was to be the recipient of Paul's trade bow as soon as I got to the shoot. That thing is a shooter and is sure to join me in the woods this fall. I can't thank you enough.

Many thanks to Guy and the club, you couldn't ask for a better place for this event!

It was great to meet and hang with crop dustin Clint (and his ever present sack), Bill (disco bar, the cobbler king), Cody and Landon, Ryan and Ryan (go green!), the entire Blackhawk family, Greg and Sharon & smokey (the nicest people you'll ever meet) and anyone else I forgot...

Many thanks to Paul and Chris for feeding all of us, and all the help with my bow building!

Danny boy thanks for going easy on me drink wise...I'm positive you'll make up for it later!

I got a few pics I have to resize and I'll post
