Here is the trade arrow I'll be sending out. The shaft is sourwood with self nock, turkey tail Eastern Woodland 2 fletch, the point is dacite(sp) but I'm not sure who knapped it. The point is hafted with pitch glue and sinew wrap. The self nock has sinew wrap below it and the fletch is tied on with sinew. All sinew wraps and the shaft are sealed with pitch varnish. The arrow is 28" from behind the point to the bottom of the nock and the total weight is 574grs. It may go out tomorrow.

I'll be sending these (oops)  ???  ... one out soon  ;D

Kentucky river cane 30" long 60# spine
Wild turkey fletching thread wrapped
Marabou feather tracing
Point - not sure of the material, TX Chert, I think  ??? but Stringman/Scott did the knapp'n
Point attached with faux pitch (2 part epoxy with charcoal dust added)
Self nock reinforced and point hafted with artificial sinew

Its not all natural but it shoots good thru a 50-55# bow and is very usable....................
Hope you like it  :)

I got it finished today. Tonkin with flipped turkey two fletch, snake skin crest, sinew and pitch for holding, stained with poke berry juice, and I am sure a one of a kind point. It is the hard under gill bones of the carp I shoot. Two cuts and some notches and they make one evil point. I have had this idea for awhile. I think I will make a set now. I'm sure  ???????? ?? ??????????? will like it.

I'm fairly new, so I hope my recipient likes it. Tonkin Bamboo, Spanish Turkey feathers, two fletch, Mahogany Obsidian Point that I broke about 6 pounds of rock to knapp  :o. Point and insert weigh 125 grains on the money. Hafted with White tail sinew and my first attempt at pine pitch. Feathers are adhered with Fletch tite  :-[ as well as white tail sinew. Shaft from Mullet, sinew from Loefflerchuck.

Thanks for all the lessons and great trades!

Joe

For the trade I wanted to try something different, I've never made a bamboo arrow and I never used anything but wing feathers. I really liked Pats tail feather fletching.  I  wish you could have seen me trying to align the feathers and front quills properly for the first time... I needed two more hands! In the primitive spirit I did not use fetching tape or modern glue, a first for me :) soooo I made...

A primitive Native American Eastern Woodland 2 fletch arrow with self knock and sinew wrappings, a bone hunting point from last year's whitetail buck, attached to the bamboo shoot with pine pitch glue and reinforced with sinew.

Having been away for a while, despite having finished my arrow, I have yet to mail it.  I think in the list, though, I am listed as having already sent an arrow out.  I have not - - and my arrow will be sent tomorrow -- my apologies for being a few days tardy.  If you like, I will contact my guy and let him know.

Also, having returned after having been away - - I was pleased to find arrows delivered to me.  Yes, I said arrows as I received two - one nicer than the next.  I would be happy to make another to send to the guy who will not be getting one, but it will take me a week or so.  I assume the list got mixed up and my name was sent to two - as I received from Trapper Rob and Scottski - and that as a consequence, someone will not get any.  I will post pics this weekend -  and I really dont want to give one up -  but of course will follow the judgement of the powers that be.

I just got home and found an awesome arrow from Ed Brooks! Trying to get pics up but I can't load with my phone now for some reason. Anyone else notice a change in posting pics here with an iPhone ? This arrow is a fine work of craftsmanship and coincidentally Ed got me last year, so that is really cool!

If you haven't got an arrow yet please be patient because I might be the sender. I'm on my third attempt to ship USPS. I've shipped staves, arrows and rock many times and never had so much difficulty >:( It might be a take down arrow by the time it gets there due to insane regs and lengths/circumference limits to get it there. I started prior to the deadline and ain't giving up now :)

Mark me down as received, Even though it is not in my possession,  Jim and I have ruled that it was here, and someone decided that they needed it more than me. Still waiting to hear from the culprits father. If he isn't any help i'll involve law enforcement. I really hate for it to come to that, but I want the person who took it to know, that I know that she is a thief, and if anything else comes up missing I am looking at her! She looked like she was gonna poop her pants when confronted.

In his earlier post he said he'd get one out in a week and that was almost a week ago so I trust he'll send it out real soon.  The whole mix up was my fault and apologize.

I received a great arrow today from RBLusthaus! Just in time to post pictures before I left for camp. It's a two fletch cane arrow with self nock and small game point, at least that is what I'm calling it. I'm going to see how many little critters I can collect with it before it gives up the ghost. Then ill glue it back together and hang it on the wall. With my hunting set of arrows I made I regretted not making a small game arrow... this fixes that :) thank you sir! I love the arrow and will carry it in the woods every day it's in one piece greater than 28"   Jim

Please accept my apologies for my absence, but I have returned.  I too would like to see my arrow posted, if I made one as nice as the ones I got.  Scottskis arrow head is just gorgeous.  I assume it is bone.  Mounted in some kind of pitch goo and tied off with sinew.   The cresting between the fletch is some kind of snake skin (rattler?) and the turkey fletch is tied on.  This arrow is way too nice to be shot -  even though I have no doubt it would serve its purpose well.  It has a very nice balance when held, if ya know what I mean.  I am going to build some kind of display rack.  Thanks again.   Russ

I also received a sweet arrow from Trapper Rob.  I hope the pics comes thru clear, but the knapped head is real cool looking and super sharp.  Did you knapp it yourself?  Seems a little light, but no matter, cause this one ain't being shot either.  The two fletch tied front and rear, open in the middle is really cool.  I have seen some of you guys show fletches like that before, but I never really grasped the way the feather on the other side of the quill comes over the shaft and tied off.   Holding it in hand makes all the difference.  I am really beginning to like 2 fletch.  Are these noisy in flight?  Thanks Rob for the awesome arrow.  Russ

Russ, yes point is bone in osage forshaft with pine pitch and yes rattle snake crest. I did shoot it 3 times in a foam target to make sure it would fly good if you chose to use it. Yes flew nice and straight to point I was aiming.
