Title: Michigan Whitetail
Post by: RyanR on October 15, 2014, 08:52:50 pm
I got this doe last night.  She really tested my nerves stomping at me and looking at me before she finally calmed down enough to get a shot.  At the shot I was really excited because it looked like a really good hit and I was certain she wouldnt go far.  It ended up being a double lung shot and she ran about 40 yards before stopping and walking.  She only made it about 60 yards in total.  Luckily for me she ran straight to the road so I only had to drag her 40 yards or so.  I found the broadhead in the opposite shoulder. I shot her with a Hophornbeam bow I worked on at Marshall MI on Mermorial weekend.  It is 53# @ 26".  I hope you enjoy the photo.  It was getting dark and I didnt have a flash on the camera.

When a doe busts you, snortin' snot and stompin' her foot in a hissy fit, your chances of a shot are about equal to a snowball's chance in he...yeah, not good. Then the chances of a deer running TOWARD the road and your vehicle...?  Yeah, right.

Apparently, you blew a whole year's worth of luck on this one.  Good work, doggone good work!  Good clean ethical hunt.  Best kind there is!

Way to go Ryan. Happy to see ya get one down so early in the season brother, sounds like the bow handled that job easily.  :)

Great shot Ryan!  Glad to see another primitive kill posted.  Don't you love it when they run towards the road instead of down a ravine.

Yea, I have had them do both.  This was definitely easier.

Great job Ry guy! That picture would have been just perfect with a bit more light. You'd best be saving one of them back straps for Marshall!
