-
Uhh, Osage Bow? :)
-
"Freebee" ;D
-
the "I.O.U"
-
I could give you the German word for Mullet if you want
-
I got one for you Tyke. Not My Brothers Bow!
Or you could modify that a bit and call it "Not Ross' Bow".
-
make it a bow first, name later
-
Yeah mullet its the stave i got from the water distiller ;D
-
Since the Marshall arts kenpo i took when i was a boy was brought to america by a man named ed parker it shall be known as. Kenpo the bow
-
Tyke, that's funny. When I was competing and a Ring Judge at Karate Tournaments in the 60's, 70's, when they called my name over the speakers to report to a ring, there was a small group waiting for autographs thinking I was the famous Ed Parker.
-
You ARE the Famous Ed Parker to me!
-
Since the Marshall arts kenpo i took when i was a boy was brought to america by a man named ed parker it shall be known as. Kenpo the bow
Since Ed Parker studied under Chinese kempo master William Thunderbolt Chow before coming ti the mainland you could call it Thunderbolt
-
Call it the billy ray cyrus! He was the king of the mullet!
-
I think I might have killed it its got a very small crack about 4 inches above the riser on its back I don't dare touch it does anyone have any advice
-
I think i saved it only went through two rings just dont know if i should just take two rings off or back it ???
-
Is there a hinge at that area?
-
without taking it down how do you know it only went 2 rings down? ???
-
I scraped it down two rings just where the crack was restrung it at about 2" brace and checked to see if it was cracked anymore
-
No there wasnt a hinge pat but theres a tiny knot
-
well tyke that's what I was thinking u did, i'd take the rest of the back down, and I don't really like chasing rings
-
You must need a good scraper then bubby ;D
-
What made it crack? Osage doesn't crack in tenion just cause.
-
I honestly dont know we did hit freezing last night and i left it in my shop over night
-
I've got a khalverson scraper they don't get any better ;)
-
Tyke, freezing doesn't matter, too dry could.
-
seems to me that that little knot has something to do with it. someone with more experience would have to say why, but the crack is too close to the knot to be coincidence. Bummer Tyke, hope you can recover from it.
-
The crack is coming off the knot but why? Most osage bows have pins and/or knots in them. Knots check(drying cracks following grain) but osage doesn't crack without a reason. Even taking the top off of the pin shouldn't cause a crack like that.
-
You violated the little pin knot. Super Glue in the crack and then rawhide back it. Quick and simple.
-
Yes sir eddie
-
Good practice to always leave an extra growth ring as a little "island" above a pin knot so that doesn't happen. I made that mistake once on my first Osage stave. Crack didn't develop for about a year, then all of a sudden...surprise!
Good luck.
