I got one for you Tyke. Not My Brothers Bow!

Or you could modify that a bit and call it "Not Ross' Bow".

Tyke, that's funny. When I was competing and a Ring Judge at Karate Tournaments in the 60's, 70's, when they called my name over the speakers to report to a ring, there was a small group waiting for autographs thinking I was the famous Ed Parker.

Since Ed Parker studied under Chinese kempo master William Thunderbolt Chow before coming ti the mainland you could call it Thunderbolt

I scraped it down two rings just where the crack was restrung it at about 2" brace and checked to see if it was cracked anymore

Tyke, freezing doesn't matter, too dry could.

seems to me that that little knot has something to do with it. someone with more experience would have to say why, but the crack is too close to the knot to be coincidence.  Bummer Tyke, hope you can recover from it.

The crack is coming off the knot but why? Most osage bows have pins and/or knots in them. Knots check(drying cracks following grain) but osage doesn't crack without a reason. Even taking the top off of the pin shouldn't cause a crack like that.

You violated the little pin knot. Super Glue in the crack and then rawhide back it. Quick and simple.

Yes sir eddie

Good practice to always leave an extra growth ring as a little "island" above a pin knot so that doesn't happen.  I made that mistake once on my first Osage stave.  Crack didn't develop for about a year, then all of a sudden...surprise!
Good luck.
