Inquiring minds want to know. ;)
-
MOJAM is scheduled for July 16 - July 18th this year.
-
Cool, I may make this one.....finally! 8)
-
Sweet, got it marked on my calendar. I have really been looking forward to mojam this year. Let's hope the weather is as nice as it was last year!
-
Hoping all on PA make it!
-
Marked on the calendar, Good Lord Willing and the creek don't rise, I'll be there. Gifford
-
Pat that would be great if you can make it!. I'll be there the Monday before again with my boys. It's my family vacation.
-
I'll be coming with Kelly G so whenever he gets there, so will I. ;) It will be a 14+ hour drive from here and I don't know what his plans are yet. He may not either. ;D
-
Its always the 3rd weekend of July Pat. I hope you get to make it!... Brian
-
Not to bad pat. Bring your swim trunks the pool nearby can be a life saver. And you might want to practice on your 180 yard target practice as well. Tell Roy that his ten hour drive ain't so bad too.
-
This reminds me, ...I need to check if my boss has approved my PTO for the week yet...
OneBow
-
I am actually hoping to camp there this year. Seems like I miss a lot when I go home in the evening.
-
Seems like I miss a lot when I go home in the evening.
Ya think? 😮
-
If you camp you can make the midnight shoots. I'm bringing another bow of clay birds for a midnight bow skirmish again. That was a lot of fun.
-
I'll probably be up at my usual spot. It'd be nice if it's as cool a July as last year. ;D
-

I'll probably be across the street from ya again then. I'll bring some half-n-half for the coffee... :)

This year I need to spend more time visitin' and less time making shavings!

Sounds great Eric. :) I see you'll be headed to Tennessee this year as well . Lucky... ;)

And THAT is why we have been camping with Lennie all these years... :D
-
Well I'll be there with bells on! Plan on camping this year for sure. Maybe even getting there earlier. May try for the whole week this time.
Pat I hope to get to meet you there! Would love to get to visit with you a bit.
Dave, you might want to bring another bow or two. I think Devin will be there again! Or maybe tiller one to 29" that he could shoot! >:D
I'm hoping to get more shooting in this time. And some more visiting and trading. I'm probably going to be bringing some mockernut hickory staves with me. These are nice ones and super straight. May put one on the table for the auction.
Hows everyone's Franken bow coming? Mine is still in two pieces. Patrick
-
Pat I will be bringing a bradford pear stave with me to work on if I get the chance. Patrick
-
It will be nice to meet you too Patrick. Will you beat the Classic?
-
Yes sir, planning on it. Maybe if you would want to you could help me get started on that bradford pear there? It will still be green some but thought I would get it roughed out. Patrick
-
I'll be happy to help you. I'll have my Stave Master and my bucket of tools. We can get it started at the classic and finish it up at MoJam.
-
Thanks Pat, that would be awesome. I know that you said that you always wanted to make one from bradford pear so I thought you might enjoy it. Hopefully the stave dries out a bit. It's only been cut for about a month and a half. Patrick
-
Patrick, If I knew you was wanting a Bradford pear stave I had one that had been curing for about a year. I started looking at it, decided I would not use it for anything and used it for firewood. Dang it!
Neal
-
No biggie buddy, neighbor was cutting his down and I asked if I could have one of the limbs. Thought I would give it a shot. Patrick
-
Patrick, if you can get it reduced to floor tiller stage it will dry a lot quicker. Heck it might be ready to build a bow at the Classic.
-
I will see what I can do Pat. Pretty tied up with some other bows right now. As soon as it warms up this weekend I may pull it out and work on it a bit. Patrick
-
You can borrow my Hot Box if you want to force it along Patrick...

Thanks buddy, I kinda forgot you had one. I need to get over to your place one day anyways. Patrick
-
The clock is ticking. Was just thinking about mojam this week. I can't wait.
-
Yep, it will be here before you know it! Patrick
-
Yep, when the weather starts warming up thoughts turn to Mojam... ;D
-
Anybody gotten started on a FrankenBOW yet?
OneBow
-
All I've done is think about it buddy. Need to get going on it though. Patrick
-
Got to do this one day, not in the cards next couple of years because of conflicts with events at TwinOaks ,but after that I am planning on it. :) I know yall will have a blast. ;)
Pappy
-
Sure would be good to see you there pappy! Patrick
-
After many years of wanting to go, this might be my year...if I hear back from Kelly G. ;D
-
I sure hope you do pat. Kelly usually camps near me down close to the range. It's always a close knit campsite. I'd invite the guys from up north but their delicate bodies would melt in the heat. Only ryan and his sister are man enough to make it. ( definitely to hot for pearl and badly bent) ;D
I sure hope Lenni leaves another bottle of the red stuff on the table again this year too. Lol
-
Have it on good authority that last years's pleasant temps will be repeated. :o
-
You got that right Dave, been in Missouri in July before and man was it hot. :D
Still want to get down there one of these days though, I know its a good group running that event and that its a fun time. I'll have to watch the weather forcast as it gets closer to game time and make a last minute decision. ;)
-
Dave I about fell out of my chair laughing when I read your post. I forgot all about the bottle of red stuff.
Badlybent, July is hot but not as bad as mid August to early September. We get all of the extremes here in Missouri. There is the swimming pool down the road!
Knoll I hope you are right buddy! It actually got a little cool for shorts at night last year!
I can't wait, trying to decide if I'm going to try to come for the whole week or not. I would like to But for sure at least 4 days. Still trying for the week. Going to camp this year so i can partake In more of the fun. My buddy that made my scraper decided to make some more and either him or myself will have some there to get rid of. I might buy one from him to donate to the table too. Patrick
-
It would be great if you can make it here greg. I'll bring some shade to keep you from melting.
Patrick. I will be there the Monday before like last year. I wanna make sure my camp is in the hot spot by the range again. Lenni ' wine and some apple pie make the live auction so much more lively. Also helps make no noses showcasing a bit more bearable. I have been gathering g a few things for the auction table for this year as well.
I can't wait to see everyone again. It will be here before you know it.
-
;D I think I'll be able to make this one, it is scheduled in my calender so if no major calamitys arise I should see you all there
-
Always ready to have another. Just be ready for no nose. He is a marine but he tries his best to behave at mojam.
-
Once a marine always a marine! Semper Fi!
OK I'm done now I will behave >:D Patrick
-
Good to hear it Army Ranger! Is your Kentucky Coffee Wood bow still shooting?
....and you know NoNose, he's nothing to worry about. Just another old Jarhead. :D
OneBow
-
Hey! >:D
Patrick
-
Eric that bow was Hackberry. I gave it to mike to finish. I think he finished it but I haven't seen it since ok. I did lay out the coffee bean stave and will mess with it again tomorrow night. It should be finished for Mojam hopefully along with a few others.
-
Hey Dave, how's that stave I coming along that I gave you last year? I haven't heard my ears ringing from all of the grumbling! Patrick
-
Hackberry bow has 3" of set and chrysalled in 4 places. Using it in my garden as tomato stake.
;)
-
Pat. Still just how I got it. Lol I have been under pressure to finish four bows and a few others in there as well and haven't had time for the "fun" wood lately.
Michael I know that ain't true. You probably can't grow tomatoes big enough to need stakes. :P
-
Extended for cast for mojam.... Highs in the 80's and lows in the 50's ;)
I've already got my time off work approved. Not that 8th matters. I'd rather quit than miss mojam. I can't wait to see everyone again. I wonder how early is too early?
-
Never too early. I can't wait. Got my time off approved by both work and the misses. ;)
-
I wonder if Keith will unlock the gates for us the friday before this year? ;D one week just wasn't enough last year. Then I might get some actual bow work done. I've been trying to come up with some things for the clout shoot and the live auction as well.
-
FRIDAY before? Bud, you're gonna have to pay rent!
-
Things aren't looking good for me this year. :( I got an email from Kelly the other day and he is unsure if he can make it due to work. I'll keep y'all posted.
-
Hope things work out, Pat, that ya cam make it.
-
I really hope you can make it Pat! Last year when I talked to Kelly he said he wouldn't miss it for the world!
Dave, looks like you are going to try and beat me there this year. I'm coming for a whole week too. But the Friday before, man! I'm planning on being there Sunday before, hopefully bringing a small camper this time.
Did you get my voice mail yesterday? Patrick
-
That would be a bummer pat. Was looking forward to having you out here. Kelly we could do without but we were willing to put up with him to have you along. >:D
Patrick I never check my messages. I'm bad about that. Lol
I should have three benches to bring along and hopefully I'll have a tiller in tree set up too. I like having a back behind the bows I'm looking at.
-
Awesome Dave! I'm bringing a shave horse and a adjustable reflex deflex caul I built last year. Patrick
-
Wife said I can go! Boss always gives me time off anytime I ask so im going. I hope my wife can come, either way my son will be coming too.
-
Good deal buddy! I'm going for the whole week. Your welcome to ride up with me if you have enough time off! Patrick
-
That's great sleek. My two sons and daughter will be with me all week again to I think.
-
Too bad about Pat and Kelly not being able to make it. I know Kelly was being transferred to a new base and, I think, he got promoted as well so that can "complicate" things. Dave, you ever just consider moving to Marshall...? ;D
;)
-
On permanent basis, Marshall likely wouldn't let him in ... just sayin' >:D
-
Hahaha paul. I like a temporary residence best. Keeps people looking for me on their toes. >:D and knoll is probably right, they wouldn't let me in anyway.
This time two months from now guys...
-
Aw heck Dave, the folks in Marshall should welcome a fine fella such as yourself as a citizen. ;D
Yep, just a couple months to go...
-
looks like we'll all be there this year, but we're all staying in hotels for the 1st time ever. I heard from Sal, Larry, Rob, and Dan...looks like Thursday thru Sunday.
-
Good deal Bob! Hope to see you there. I'm planning a week myself. Done the hotel thing last year. I felt like I missed a lot so I'm bringing a camper this year. Patrick
-
Sal's coming? Dave - you'd better mix up an extra jug of Pie!
I just got the news that I am getting a new position here at work - which is mostly a good thing - but it may curtail my time-off scenario for Mojam this year. I still hope to get there around Tuesday evening, but the new job may get in the way... (dagnabitt!)
Onebow
-
I hope everything works out for you Eric! By the way, it sure was good to see you last week! Patrick
-
Hope the new position works out for you Eric and you can still make it as "scheduled". I'll have the coffee ready.. ;)
Good to hear that Sal is coming out this year. :D
-
I do love it when sal makes it. I'll bring extra pie if someone can bring the extra wood for sal to use as a pillow. Lol.
Bob if you stay at the hotel how are we gonna shoot in the midnight bow skirmish? Either way I'm looking forward to seeing you guys again.
Eric Tuesday won't be bad there might still be a spot left around me. Is the wife coming this time or will your brother be handling you again this year?
-

My wife is my exclusive handler, ...my brother just tries to keep me from snapping perfectly good bow wood into splinters. The wife did mention something about you needing to find a way to get over your shyness though. Not too sure what she meant... :o :o :o

Never expected to see Dave and "shyness" used together in a sentence regarding Mojam..? ???
Was your wife being ironic Eric ?

I expect so Paul, she and he got on well at the Classic. She knows very little about primitive archery (...even less than me! :o) but Dave was a great sport about answering her kinda silly questions and making friends. He even shared with her a few completely apocryphal stories about my alleged conquests at OJAM this spring, ...the Booger even invited her to visit his tent ;) if she wanted to meet a bowyer that didn't break near as many bows as he makes!
OneBow
-
You should bring her to Mojam Eric. That way she'll be able to see that it draws a more genteel group of people...
;)
-
Plus she probably misses me >:D 8)

What an imagination.@

I'm starting to wonder if Keith is going to make an official thread for moral or not this year. Also I haven't heard of the shirt ordering thread on trad gang yet either?
-

Me neither Dave, I was just wondering about the same thing yesterday. Has anyone heard from Keith lately. I was thinking about calling the club and seeing if everything is going ok. Patrick
-
I'm sure everything is fine. Keith doesn't get online much. You can give Em a call if you want. I bet they have something up soon. If not oh well I'm going anyway. Lol
-
I checked out their website today and their Facebook page. Looks like they are gearing up for it.
I may have some guest coming down the latter part of the week. My wife said that she might drive down for Friday and Saturday. Also my sister in law and my favorite niece. That should be fun! I guess I'll have to be on my good behavior for at least a couple of days! Patrick
-
I do love it when sal makes it. I'll bring extra pie if someone can bring the extra wood for sal to use as a pillow. Lol.

Dave, we'll just have to find a way...maybe the wives can go back to the hotel and the guys can stay a little late for the talking/shooting. :) That picture of Sal sleeping with his head on the staves was a classic...
-
I wish MOJAM was starting today! Our weather right now could hardly be more perfect. I suspect the sky will remember how to get hot again by mid July though. <sigh> :( :embarassed: ???

+2, this weather is really nice right now. I looked at future cast that only went to 7/14. It showed 90's during the day and upper 60's at night. Maybe our evening's will be nice for all of the moonlight adventures. Patrick
-
I'm guessing that the weather will be back to it's "seasonal" levels this year. ::)
But my oh my, wasn't last year something special ... ;D
-
Boy it sure was Paul! We could only pray for weather like that again! Patrick
-
Last year Tuesday morning I stepped out of the camper and almost...almost put on a long sleeved tshirt. I didn't only out of respect for the weather. I hope this year is as nice too. Having said that, I'll be happy even if it's 110. Can't wait to see the "family" again.
-
I talked to my buddy last night that made my scrapper. He is going to make some and I will have them a mojam. He is going to make some the size of mine and some a bit smaller. I'm guessing that hi will make about a dozen or so. Patrick
-
Learned my first year there how HOT it actually can be in Marshall, MO and how much it can bite you! Now I go down to the shaded area early and stay there till it's cool again, ...or until I'm adequately influenced not to notice, whichever comes first.
I was going to try to persuade the wife to keep the AC off in the house until after MOJAM so I could build up my heat tolerance, ...but then I figured I'd probably just wind up banished to the storage shed at the back of the lot, and decided to keep my yap shut. 8) I ain't completely STOOOPID!
OneBow
-
... I got three jokes. >:D
The forecast for this summer is supposed to be cooler than normal. Might have a repeat.
-
Last year's weather was about as nice as we could have asked for, let's hope we get another repeat. Can't wait, another month and a half to go
-
Here is the future cast for mojam. It's not last year but it ain't bad at all. Patrick

-
Hope that forecast becomes actual.
-
That would be awesome.
-
I think I might be able to tolerate those temps if the humidity level isn't to bad. ;D
I sure would like to be at this event, I see that there is a good cast of characters attending.
-
Well come on! I think they will let you in! >:D Patrick
-
I sure would like to be at this event, I see that there is a good cast of characters attending.
"Good" might be stretchin' it ... but, "interesting" most definitely!
Would be GREAT to see ya!!
-
Is good to see people getting geared up for mojam. I have been swamped with work. Have spendt the past six months working on a merger. Hope to finish early July. I will be out of town till the 14th of July but someone will open the gate early for anyone who wants to come claim a spot. Will be a breath of fresh air to see you all. Keith
-
Good to hear that you are going to be there Keith.
Hope the tee shirt supplier this year knows how to spell "Missouri" ... ;D
;)
-
Come on down Greg! If it gets to hot for you I'll volunteer to spray you with the hose and dump some ice on ya. I'm that nice of a guy. >:D
-
Just a fyi moral shirt can be pre ordered on trad gang right now until July 1. They don't make many extras.
-
Thanks Dave. Is little bear still doing the t-shirts? I haven't been on trad gang in a long time. Might have to see if I can remember how to log in.
Good to hear from you Keith! Do you think they will open the gates the Sunday before? Patrick
-
Anyone heard anything about T-Shirts this year? Inquiring minds and all that... :)
-
Gifford, I finally got logged into trad gang. There is a post on there for the shirts. Patrick
-

Remember what post title is? Havin' trouble locating it ... ::)
-
Yeah I think it was "mojam t-shirts" under trad events. Patrick
-
Hey Guys, thanks, I found it (now to try to remember my login....)
-
Good luck, I had it reset 3 times before it worked. Patrick
-
Any chance anybody would be willing to REPOST the data (RE: the MOJAM T-Shirt orders) from the TG site over here? My firewall here at work doesn't play nicely with the TG site.
OneBow
-
Here's what Keith (MoBow) posted on tg.
Post size and number of shirts interested in by July 1. I will post more info soon. keith
He didn't post price.
-
Eric I'll order one on there for you. Just let me know what size your in new days
-
Yep, it did take several tries but finally 'got'-er-dun' .
We're just a month or so out now.
-
If everything goes as planned I will be there with the camper set up at this time, one month from now!!! ;D Patrick
-
Wife and I will be there Wednesday, not sure what kids will be in tow. Plenty of libations per usual. Hydration is key to a successful MOJAM.

Fresh air isn't what I think of coming from this bunch. Hot is more like it. And occasionally malodorous.

Last year was my 1st MoJam. Very quiet and early lights out. Clearly I spent it around the wrong campfires. >:D
-
Good
To hear from you Lennie! We sure wouldn't want you to get dehydrated! Well, me neither for that matter! Patrick
-
If anyone is interested, I will be bringing several of the scrapers like the one I had last year. All handmade by my good friend Larry. All with elk horn handles, and two different sizes.
I will also be bringing some hickory to trade with and my reflex deflex caul for everyone to use. And probably several other trade items as well. Patrick
-
I'm still hoping to be there. Very early again this year but work has been so darn busy that my time off might be cut down! Hopefully not but all else fails I'll be there Wednesday night at the latest. I'd rather quit then miss mojam.
-
Looks like I will make it again this year with wife and kids, should pull into camp Thursday evening. I don't get on the forums very often (once a year to check on MOJam) I know I know some of you from years past. Paul I do recognize your name. See you then.
-
Well it's final, my wife, sister-in-law and niece will be there come mid week. Maybe one of my adopted nephews. I can't wait, it will be fun! Only three more weeks! Patrick

-
Can we use power washer as shower? >:D
Do you really think you will need that kinda scrubbing Mike?
I talked to Keith the other day. He said we can use the showers at the pool. He said that most of the time they just let us use them once in a while they charge a dollar. That's the pool and a shower.
Getting pumped up! I'm only going to have to use 20 hours of my vacation time to be able to be there the whole week! Patrick
-
Glad Mojam wasn't going on right now. Marshall got 6-8 inches of rain in about two hours last night. Everything flooded.
I hope it lets up raining a little bit before Mojam starts.
I figure I will probably be there bright and early Thursday.
Neal
-
Patches: Glad to hear you've been keeping your head above water. Saw the Marshall area rain event on the local news. Bet the range's dry creek beds are all floatable now...

Im 60 miles west of Marshall and i had to ford 2 creeks to get to work this mornin, lol.... Brian

We have enough rain. It does not just rain it pours. I hope it let's up and I hope it does not get stupid hot and I hope that is not asking too much. We will have the gate open Sunday for the early birds. Looking forward to it no matter what mother nature throws at us. Keith
-
Hey thanks Keith! Can't wait to see you all again! I just checked the weather for the week of mojam. It doesn't look too bad. But not as sweet as last year. I did see that there was a record low set at mojam last year.
Just 2 more weeks for me! Patrick

-
that forecast would be awesome...like last year... :)
-
Yes it would Bob! I've watched it for a month and the forecast has pretty much stayed the same. But we are also talking about Missouri weather. So we will just have to wait and see what it brings. Patrick
-
Hahaha. You think a two week forecast is right. Patrick I thought you lived in Missouri. One thing is certain. There will be weather. That's about all they know. I'm so far behind in things I wanted done before I went. Where does the time go.
-
I'm with you Dave! And I think time speeds up the closer we get. Because I'm running out of time to get things done myself. Patrick
-
Where does the time go.
It's big help when ya DON'T have to work 5 1/2 days a week! >:D
-
Must be nice Mike! Patrick
-

5 1/2? I thought Dave was in construction??? Did he get laid off and take a telemarketing gig? 5 1/2 days per week would be about like a vacation to the bearded berzerker. Heck, he'd prolly have 5 1/2 days done by noon on Tuesday most weeks. :o :o :o

-
Very true eric. We have been so busy lately I didn't think I was gonna get my time off for the whole week. Especially with all the rain we have been getting we are falling behind. At least the rain has got me inside doing trim work to help those guys catch up. I'm heading to the shop for an hour or so tonight hopefully. I've got a few only a few hours from shooting.
-
It's so close now! This week is gonna take forever at work. I'm planning on being there Sunday night or early Monday morning as of right now.
Pat shoot me a text and maybe we can make some early dinner plans for the first part of the week. I might even take my kids into town for pizza and a movie one night depending on their behavior.
It's almost here everyone. I'm so excited!
-
Well the wife and daughter are on the fence now about attending this year but I should be in by Wednesday. I'm bringing my one ,and only, yew stave from a few(many..?) years back to work on.

Well Paul maybe we can work on ours together. I'm bringing a roughed out yew that I traded with wizardgoat for at the classic. I would like to have it shooting by the end of the week.
If you don't mind Dave I will just give you a call. Patrick

Dave,
Let me hook the kids up with some Mountain Dew before you go. Keith
-
Me thinks Dave just hooked himself up.
-
That will be great Patrick.
The fact that it's my first and only piece of yew has had me intimidated over the years. Osage I got and can get but yew is a long ways off from here...

X2 Paul! I have a set of billets but this yew stave is my first one too! Patrick
-
Hahaha. You're so kind Keith. Maybe some pixie sticks to go with the soda. Lol my kids are already getting excited too. It's funny 8 get the random,"when is mojam again?" Question about once a month.
-
I broke my first yew stave. But no pressure.
-
Thanks Lennie! That's a good word of encouragement! >:D
You going to make it to mojam? Patrick
-
I broke my first yew stave. But no pressure.
Oh "Thank You so much" for the pep talk my friend... ::)
-
We'll be rolling in Wednesday. I'm sad to say my boy will not be attending, a new job and girlfriend have distracted him from the important things in life. On the bright side, this means somebody else can win the clout shoot this year. And I can shoot my JD Jones bow for once.
Maybe I'll bring a sprig of this yew to work on, just so I won't feel left out.
-
Good to hear Lennie. Maybe we all can work on this "exotic" stuff together! I plan on trying to shoot the course and the clout shoot this year. Patrick
-
Well damn. I guess I'll bring my yew stave and maybe the bill it's and a handle too.
-
Sweet Dave! We might have a few yew bows by the end of the week. I'm bringing my new portable tillering device that goes in my receiver hitch to. It works pretty slick! Patrick
-
I will bring the yew billets and stave I got from Wizardgoat too. I might as well break them when everyone else is watching! :)
Neal
-
Dang....feelin left out.. I aint got no yew! Lol.... Brian

Just bring whatever you have and tell people its yew.

Just bring whatever you have and tell people its yew.
Or maybe it's yew-ish... ;)
-
Mazel tov!!!
-
All yewish bowyers should stop by camp for a swig of my new drink, the mazel tov cocktail.
-
I didnt know we had any yewish bowyers on this site? ( channeling space balls )
-
Well, I don't think we have a Yewish Princess... ;)
And may the Schwartz be with you.
-
All yewish bowyers should stop by camp for a swig of my new drink, the mazel tov cocktail.
Oy, I hope we don't get lit by drinking too many ... ?
-
I will have a shot of liquid Schwartz. ( LMAO! My phone recognized Schwartz as a word! )
-
Apparently the MoJam spirits have begun a bit early.
-
I am getting SO excited! One more week fellas.
-
Well things have went Topsy turvey for me in the last couple of days. I will be camping in a tent instead of a camper. But I will still be there Sunday if nothing else goes wrong. Can't wait, really need a break from everything! Patrick
-
Tent camping is REAL camping. >:D
-
Tent camping is REAL camping. >:D
I know bud, but I guess I am getting spoiled to the ac.
I personally love to camp in a tent. My wife on the other hand would rather be in a cabin or a hotel. But she is going to be "tent camping" next Thursday! >:D Patrick
-
Patrick you will just have to get you a Styrofoam cooler and make you a redneck air conditioner.
I hope the rain quits by next week. We may have to have a carp shoot instead of the clout shoot.
Neal
-
Note to self: pack rain jacket and boots. Sixties in July, "remarkable".
-
So all the 'Yewish' talk got me wondering - would an izmel work for chasing a growth ring???
OneBow
-
Maybe it would be better fore skinning a bow..?
;)
-
Its only good for working on the tips... :)
-
^^ Hahahaha. Well done
-
Nicely played, both of ya. Id guess it depends on the circum-stances. Probably if its a soft wood.
-
You all are making me somewhat circum-spect. See you soon. Keith
-
Well it looks like summer will be back come next week. I just checked the forecast and it was highs in the upper 80's to low 90's and humid. So there will be a heat index of about 10 degrees. I hope it changes but it's Missouri so you never know what you are going to get. Patrick
-
I know am heading to Wally World for a new pair of boots!
-
I will be there a week from now...
Yep Patrick, they are calling for highs in the 90's now, and humid. Normal MOJam weather will be this year!!! Its always good to work on bows in 80% humidity! ;)
Neal
-
Ick
-
Not too bad of a forecast weatherwise; There have been cooler ones and hotter ones, but whatever the weather, MoJAM will be a good time for one and all. It's all part of the experience.
-
Does anyone live close enough to the club to know the actual ground conditions? Is it washed out or anything?
-
Well I'm off work! 48 hours from now I will be at mojam pitching a tent. Can't wait, gots lots to do! Patrick
-
See you in a few hours buddy!
-
I'll be there Monday - or Tuesday early at the latest...
OneBow
-
I don't live there but 8 say the grounds are not washed out. Maybe a bit on the range but the main grounds would be difficult to wash out.
I've got one more day of work and then packing up. I'll be there Monday morning or Sunday night.
-
good grief! With all the early arrivals, primo campin' spots gonna be at a premium. :P
-
Heads up ya'll. Gonna be lookin' for primo hard maple stave. :)
-
Knoll, I got one from a yooper stave. Its a belly split to boot. Seasoned for several yrs now... Its been in my shed for a few months now so it prolly needs to see a hotbox tho.... Brian
-
Heads up ya'll. Gonna be lookin' for primo hard maple stave. :)
Hey buddy how's the maple bow blank I gave you coming along? I bet it's shooting by now! Patrick
-
Lonnnnng story w/ unhappy ending. :( Sure we'll get chance to talk.
-
Man that sucks! I know you were excited about that one. Patrick
-
Thought this might be my year to attend but not gonna happen. Have a local family camp out with two of my daughters, the son in laws and the grandkids next weekend. This was the only weekend that worked for them and we don't get to do this every year so how could I say no.
Back to saying maybe next year again. :) Have a good time guys and post a lot of pictures
-
Disappointed, but understandable. See ya next year for sure!
-
That's a bummer greg. I was looking forward to seeing that Osage bow. I guess I'll have to wait until spring now.
I'm off work now and getting things together to go. Tomorrow the truck gets cleaned and loaded up. I'll be there with my 12 and 9 year old sons and 6 year daughter for the whole week! They are very excited and so am i! See everyone soon.
-
Good to hear that all the kids are taggin' along.
-
Good news is we likely won't have precip.

Just about got the whole load packed up. Two benches, tools, clamps, heat gun, extensions cords, bows, staves, clothes, arrows, basically just loaded the house and shop into a condensed version. And we are almost ready to go.
-
Just began gettin' stuff around here.
-
Just now leaving Springfield I'll be there in two and a half hours! Patrick
-
Well I'm the first one here! It is as humid as heck and almost no wind. But camp is set up and I'm fixing to go to bed. Good night and I will see all the other early goers tomorrow! Patrick
-
Be there before noon.
-
Good deal Mike, I got coffee going and breakfast cooking! Patrick
-
looks like rain Wednesday (40%) and a better chance (60%) Thursday...that should help bring the humidity up for Friday and Saturday...may not need a long sleeve shirt. ;)
-
Heat advisory for today. Supposed to cool off into the lower 90's for Thursday and Friday then hot again Saturday. Drink plenty water! See everyone Thursday.
Neal
-
Bows/beer/bags/boxes loaded. I'm off!
-
How deep is your pile of shavings Patrick??? ...feeling jealous already!
OneBow
-
Haven't even started yet Eric! But I have just about got everything set up. Taking my sweet time! But I should have a bow tillered tonight, hopefully. Patrick
-
Have fun yew early birds. ;)
It appears that my arrival, like my wife's airline flight, will be delayed. :(
Oh well, will get there when I get there...
-
Two more days for me..... im gonna start packing tonight.
-
Day one is over. Hot. Pretty good crowd for Monday. We are waiting for the rest of you.

Tent is up, beer drank, time for bed...

I'm packed and pulling out in the morning... only 7 hours away... LOL.
-
Hope to be out and on my way early tomorrow morning. Will need to wait till the rain and thunder storms pass to start loading up though. >:(
Lennie and his family should be arriving today to secure our LZ... ;D
See yew all soon.
-
Yew know it's hot when there is a window ac unit in my tent! Thanks sleek! Yew made my wife's and sister-in-law very happy! And me to!
Lots of first time bows being built! Hickory is king Dave! Patrick
-

-
Lets see some pictures of all the fun
-
Rain all morning, hot sun all day, no breeze, high dewpoint = hot. Window unit is a life saver. Literally.
Guys it been a great outing. Looking forward to next year. I will be bringing the cabin tent and ac again. Its nice :)
-
Man what a great time, loved talking and meeting new people. I made off like a bandit this year, I will post some pictures soon.

I just got home. haven't even started unpacking yet either. I had a great time again this year. Congrats to all the first time bowyers that made bows this year! I managed to finish two this year and even kept mostly clear of the clear liquid that was making its way around. Thanks to Marshall Bowhunters for putting this all on again and letting us use their place for a week. I did take a few pictures but my phone wont turn on right now. I"m thinking it migt have gopt wet or burnt up in the heat. I will hopefully have it figured out in a few days and will post em here. My kids had a great time too as did the wife.
-
Got home safely. Hope everyone else does same.
What a week!
Some (or all) the pictures are here . . . http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,53345.0.html

we're back home too...great to see everyone...it was an unusual year for weather...hot, cool, hot, wet, and hot... :)
Dave- has some great bows and your daughter makes a nice knife... NoNose helps lots of folks, when he isn't trying to kill them with clear liquid...Aaron (Falcon) makes some beautiful bows and will have a BBO next year I hope...Lennie- you make the auction lots of fun...glad I brought home a few of your liquid treasures...the wife's quilt was too cool as well...Mudd, it's about time you won that clout shoot! nice bow... haha. John Murray- so glad you made it and that we got to visit again. Sal, Rob, Larry, Dan...it was so good to see you guys... Like John said... "it's the only place where you can see friend one time a year and start the conversation right where you left off last year!"
Bob

As always a great time with great folks. Getting to camp at the top of the hill with Lennie and Shannon has become our tradition over the years with lots of good food and refreshments. Another "tradition",( which I'd hoped to avoid this year ::) ), seems to be the annual splitting a log for someone else. This year Lennie furnished the log. What a guy... ;)
Getting to see so many familiar and new faces building bows is what it's all about. And Yeah, it did get kinda hot a humid this year but that is also, based on past years, a Mojam Tradition.
-
MoJAM 2015 is History. Many thanks to the Marshall Bow Hunters for hosting a great event. Is it too soon to start the MoJAM 2016 count-down calendar?
Glad to hear folks are checking in when they arrive home safely. Bob thanks for making the strings. It was great to be able to shoot the course with Sal, Amy and Sebastian; Rob and Pam; and Bob. Quite round with rain and all. Larry we hope you join us next year. Sal, what an outstanding Yucca Quiver - my MoJAM Friendship arrows have a new home.
Got one of Patrick's "Draw-Scraper" heck of tool. Elk handles really set it off. Finally, a draw-scraper with enough weight to get the job done in short order without cramping my hands. (Not a paid endorsement-I just really pleased with performance, thought I say so.)
The camp companions again this year were out-standing. Larry & Arlene; Bob & Cathy; Rob and Pam; Sal & Amy and little Sebastian, many thanks. Wow, were those walleyes great.
Don't have any pictures to post, my cell-phone predates cameras in phones. Yep it's that old.
-
Shannon and I had a great time as always. Thanks for helping me split the log Paul, at least it was smaller this time! Several yew staves got worked on this time around. Its intimidating but the stuff won't make itself into a bow and it was reassuring to see people making sawdust with it. I actually worked on a few bows even in the heat, I figured out it was just as hot sitting in camp as it was working in the pavillion. The mazel tov cocktail recipe was well received, I think we had a bar mitzvah for Paul but I'm not positive.
Thanks to the Marshall Bowhunters for another fine event. We already made reservations at the Comfort Inn for next year.
-
Well fellas, mojam 2015 was a big hit this year! Several bows were made to! I was privileged enough to be able to lend a hand with some of them. I feel like I've grown as a Bowyer this last year. The thanks that I received from my piers was not seeked out but was received graciously. My mojam family means a lot to me! Thanks guy's!
OK, so last year I watched Dave and No Nose work their tails off with not much time to their selves. So I figured I would try to step up and do what I could so they could have time to maybe make a bow and visit a bit more.
It was great to see everyone and always great to meet some new people as well. Gifford, I hope that scraper helps you make a lot of bows without any more pain in your hands. I want to thank Dave, Eric, John W, nonose, Paul, Lennie, Tim, John Murry, Wayne, Aaron, Keith and Jeff and I'm sure I've missed a few others, for making my part of mojam awesome! I can't find the word to describe how I feel so I will have to post some pictures later. Patrick
-
Tent's are dried and my lil' Hammer was found...
Got home safely late yesterday afternoon and cleaned up all the camp gear, hung up the tents to dry,and I even found my miniature splitting mallet. Lebhuntfish has an identical one and they nearly got co-mingled during the tool round up at the end of MOJAM.
With all the rain at the end of the event we had to put everything thru a thorough wash and dry before re-packing it all. Tonight we will fold roll and stuff away the tents, but the memories of a great time at a city park in Marshall, MO will endure! Much thanx to the Marshall Bow-hunters for being our hosts for the week.
More pics later...

Good deal Eric glad you found your hammer! I always hate misplacing tools. I like the cheap finger releases, lats year I bought one from Red Buffalo and this year I had to buy another one. I guess it's a new tradition. Buy one, loose on, buy one, lo...well I guess I'll have to see if I loose this one... Patrick
-
Glad to hear everyone made it home safe. The boys and I have almost got the weeks worth of laundry finished and we scrubbed the camper down today after work and have finished unpacking. Nothing like MOJAM to get the bow making juices flowing again too.
Thanks to Pat and Jon again for the help down at the pavilion this year. There are so many people that a few more instructors were needed. It was nice to be able to step away for a drink and a quick bs with friends this year.
-
Had a real good time fellas. Dave thursday night was maybe a little too much :o It was good to see some faces to put to the forum names. Made some good friends and had good times with all.
-
For sure it was good to make a few wood shavings. I hadnt worked on bows like that in a while. My bow muscles have been worked like never before and it is such a satisfying feeling. Gonna finish up the three I made and will post when im done.
I really thought I had an eye for proper tiller, but learned that I have a problem keeping my outter thirds too stiff. Thanks to the guys who spent time with me at patricks awesome tiller tree. I am better off for it. It was an amazing time, community, camping experience. Look forward to next year and all the future archery gatherings. Hopefully next year we can add the Oklahoma Classic to the line up. Many folks seem interested in it. It would be nice to have one more event before hunting season.
-
Pretty sure Thursday night slowed us all down. I'd like to think of it as pre hydrating for Friday but I think it failed. It sure was a good time though. I'm going to try and make it to the ok classic when it gets here. Keep me posted.
