I have been on the lookout for a snaky stave for about the last two or three years. I could have bought or trade for one, but I wanted one cheap! ;D Free ;)……….One weekend, last year Clint (Osage Outlaw) ask a few PA guys to hang out with him in his bow shop for a day …at the end of the day Clint started pulling out some staves that he wanted to get rid of. I kept my eye out for a snaky one and as you would know it, there in the pile was one with a little snake to it.
Hope you remember this one Clint, thanks a bunch buddy!
Osage “of course”
68” ntn, 50 @ 28
backed with goat rawhide and covered with WDR snake skins
Bow belly is stained with leather dye
Leather Grip with a sewn in quilted pattern with black B50
Got about 150 shots through her and holding about 1 ˝” reflex.
Thanks again Clint for the stave!
I’m really starting to like the floppy rest and no cut in arrow shelf handle style bows.
I enjoyed working on this one……thanks for looking.

WOW!!! You you sure turned that stave into a work of art. Great job on it Bill. I don't remember what it looked like when you picked it out but you found a great looking bow hiding inside of it. I'll have to check that one in person at Scottsburg.
-
Man that thing is pretty sir. I love snake bows. I can't wait to get my hands on a nice snakey stave. I got one but it came in way light but she's still pretty. Nice work!
-
Beautiful bow DB, really like how you wrapped the skins around the sides. Cool grip too.
-
DANG! That is some excellent work!
-
Wow. You better be careful. You might pick up a rattler instead of your bow
-
Pretty bow, like it!
-
Nice job Bill! I gotta learn to do leather handle wraps..
-
Ooooo! Vinegar and steel wool stain? Love it!
-
And ya, Clint is about the most generous guy I've never met. Had some great trades with him.

Very nice bow! The tiller looks damn good. Well done.

I don't know what amazes me more. The stunningness of the bow or the fact that Clint would give that stave away. Good work man.

Geez Bill, don't leave that bow laying in the grass or you might have a hawk attack it. Really nicely crafted bow.

That's a very nice bow.Great job. God Bless
-
Great job Bill! Awesome looking snaky bow. That one looks like it could crawl off!
-
Great looking bow, I especially like the grip work. Why rawhide backed? Just curious as I am just finishing my first very snakey bow and it gave me grief the whole way with checks wanting to run off the limb even though I followed the grain. I should have backed mine with rawhide, but I ended up putting on a bandaid.
-
Nice job Bill. I really like the leather work.
-
Thanks, Guys..........
rps3, the rawhide is insurance only ....just wanted to make sure it held together. The stave had a couple of spots that were suspect.
Thanks again,

Real nice bow Bill. The handle work, dye color and skins really fit the snakey character of the bow. Nice work all around one that bow.
