The fact that I don't get out and shoot anywhere near as much as I'd like and getting fatigued by my 55# Osage, I decided to make myself a little 45 pounder for deer season. This was made from a nice, mostly clean piece of Osage that had a neat, little scar along the limb. This was my first attempt at making a bow that has a "hole" through the limb.
I left the area with the scar a tad bit stiff to accommodate it but am still really happy with how the tiller turned out overall. Tips are some leftover cherry wood I had laying around. I heard that cherry was a bit soft, so I soaked these really good with super glue and they seem to be working very well. With the matched arrows I made for her, she really spits an arrow hard but shoots smooth and quiet. Very happy overall. :) Thanks for looking, guys...

Nice job on that bow. What's the story on that nice Euro mount? That's a great looking rack.
-
Nicely done. Arvin

Is that supposed to be Wind Scar or does Wnd stand for something?
-
She is a beauty. I love the hole through the center, and I love how the color of the cherry wood tip overlays contrasts with the osage. Nice job!
-
Nice, very nice
-
Woo, gorgeous bow, I like the wide limbed look.
Where did you get the hole from? ::) >:D ;)

Thanks, everyone!
Osage Outlaw - It belongs to a friend of a friend. Just so happened to have access to it at the time.
DC - Yes, was suppose to be Wind Scar. Typo, lol.
Del - It was a scar in the limb, from who knows what. It was filled with pith. I carefully drilled and sanded it out. Thought about doing a black outline around it to make it look like an eye, but I liked the natural look too much to mess with it. :)

Great looking bow!very nice in every way!

Beautiful bow!

Very nice! I want to build myself a lighter bow too. I shot my first bow the other day, a 40lb'er, couldn't believe how easy it was compared to my 50+lb'ers I am using.
-
Nice bow! Good luck in the deer woods!
-
That should do the trick, best of luck to you
-
Nice bow
-
Another great looking bow man. Nice work
-
Nice job, that's a beautiful piece of wood you bent!
-
Again beautiful bow but the more I looked at it I kept thinking I have one almost just like it, then it hit me ??? it is hanging in my office. I built it in 2003 51@26 and has been shot a bunch in the first years I built it. Believe me yours is much nicer looking but thought it was cool they both had the same features, goes to show what kind of bad stuff you can get away with using Osage. :) By the way it was named Scrap wood because that is what everyone told me it was when I started it. ;) :)

Beautiful stick, Pappy. I can hardly wait to see a couple of my Osage bows darken like that.

Congrats, that's a beautiful bow!

Very nice. Congratulations and good luck with it!!

Great Looking bow all around. Nice job!

I've never heard of putting a fur 'silencer' type thing on the string, but what do I know. even if it didn't serve a purpose, it looks damn good just for ornamental purposes and I know the hide background isn't part of the bow but it looks really good with it :3
either way the full draw pic looks really good.
p.s. you have the build of a warrior. have fun slaying mad putang, girls like big strong men :3

Thanks, everyone.
Edgemaster - I'll do my best. Lol
-
Great work. I never thought of holes in bows...but it makes sense to me.

Thank you. It was filled with pith, which I hear will crumble out over time anyway. Drilled it out very carefully and sanded it. Love the outcome.

Wind Scar has my vote. Character and fun rugged lines. I like your story too as I have had to retire (for now) my Bear Kodiak Hunter @55# because apparently I have not rehabbed my shoulder enough from surgery in the past to not create a lot of next day pain from practice. I've stepped down to a simple Adirondack long bow @45# to build strength and hopefully get a deer this season. Here in Maine we can only take one Buck, that's it. Special Doe Tags can be had but I missed that early season.
Great Job to all Bows, but this Wind Scar just spoke to me.
