Hard to pick between these two incredible works of art! :)
-
Is Carson's bow in this category because it is a take-down?
Just curious...
-
Parnell, some consider sturgeon and some other fish skins as backings.
-
I hadn't realized that. Thanks. :)
-
It's hard to pick! I'd love to have them both :p

Parnell, I think Keenan lobbied the powers to be that a sturgeon hide backed bow was a backed bow. It is as tough as deer hide, so I tend to agree. But is a salmon hide or carp hide backed bow considered a backed bow? I don't know. I am not sure, I just did a search and found all the sturgeon backed bows entered in the backed bow of the month category and followed suit.

Congrats Carson, another beautiful bow
-
Thanks fellas! :)

Congrats Carson, your bow is a dream!

Can't say for sturgeon, but I once did a bow with carp skin and ended up reworking it. The skin is extremely tough and fibrous, I'd just about trust it as a backing so long as the back ring wasn't violated badly. Love them sturgeon skins though. :)

Congrats Carson, well deserved win. Beautiful bow. :)

By the way I think back then we decided that anything that would enhance durability of the back would be considered a backed bow so about the only thing you could use was snake skins and even then if it was a boa/python or some really thick skinned snake it would be decided as the issue came up. ;) Pretty fair I think. :) Again Congrats on a fine bow.
