Hello again, ya'll! It's time again to start the list for ingredient donations. It has become a Thursday evening tradition to have a good ol' southern boil. In the recent past, there has been plenty to go around but we do so only when those that donated have been fed. Generally, we have two pots. One for seafood-like ingredients and one with darker meat ingredients, depending on the contributions. Wild game, shrimp and boil-like veggies are all welcome. We welcome duplicates especially for expensive items like shrimp.
Typical Ingredients: Poultry, Venison, Onions, Celery, Pheasant, Grouse, Red Potatoes, Cob corn, Old Bay Seasoning, Carrots
I'll start...
MWirwicki - Onions & Shrimp & Chicken Breast
Pat B - Sausage & Shrimp
Pappy - Potatoes & Wild Turkey Breast (Yum yum)
Otis - Sausage & Onions
Buckeye Guy - Sausage & Taters
Knoll - Steak & Taters
Stringman - Carrots & Cabbage
Loope - Cob Corn
Bob McMinn - Shrimp
Badly Bent - Tilapia, Shrimp & Cornbread
Dakota - Mushrooms
Gundoc - Yardbird & Taters
Bentstick - Venison Roasts & Antelope
GSulfridge - Old Bay Seasoning (All Important) & Shrimp
Amateurhour Red potatoes & Carrots
Aaron H - Shrimp & Corn
Ryoon - Garlic

Matt, I'm good for a package of shrimp and a package of sausage...and help chopping stuff up. Greg and I did a pretty good job of that last year.
-
I'll bring some sausage and some onions Matt. Looking forward to seeing everyone again.
David
-
I am thinking sausage and Taters but will talk with my brother and let you know how much or what he thinks?
thanks for doing this and if you need help just let me know!
-
Steak & potatoes, here.
-
Yep I will come up with something , just need to thing about it for a bit. I know last year we feed a bunch and still had a couple of trays left for the Saturday night feed also. ;)
Pappy
-
I'm in, but not sure with what yet.
-
Looks more like a sausage fest! ;D
-
I'm heading down to the panhandle in a couple of weeks to see my dad and his family is close to the original Conecuh sausage butchers in Evergreen (Sand Cut), AL.
I'll try to pick up a few packs to bring with me, but I'll confirm that once I've made the trip. You can get it locally, but the best stuff comes from their original location. : )
-
Looks like onions is covered so put me down for carrots and cabbage.
-
Matt,
I don't see anyone for corn on the cob yet, so put me down for that.

My vacation next year has to be the Tennesse Classic, I know I am missing out on a great time.
Ya'll eat good.
-
Bob McMinn and I are riding together. Bob will be bringing shrimp.
-
I'll bring some tilapia and or shrimp for the fish pot, also the wife will make some cornbread for the table.
You guys cooked up a fine meal last year, looking forward to enjoying it again.
-
Thank you Greg, Bob M, Loope, Stringman.
Looks like we're getting a good start!
-
I can bring some wild mushrooms for the boil. I have some dried chanterelles and some frozen sulfur shelf (chicken) mushrooms. Both batches have been tested will no ill affects(u can never be too careful with wild harvest shrooms). Either or both would work with well in that dish. I might be able to supply fresh ones if hunting fungi is allowed on club grounds.
I was bringing a bunch of frozen yellow perch down as well, but we're gonna batter and fry that. I assume that will be a different night. Someone just broke the state record a couple days ago, 3 lbs. It looked more like a small mouth. Too bad it snowed last night and it's still cold enough to freeze water on my fishin line, or I'd be out adding to inventory. We'll see what the afternoon brings.
-
Sounds great, Dakota. Thank you!
-
Hopefully I'll be there this year if so I'll go out in the garden and pull carrots, cut some collards,I have a ton of kale. Hope to be there
Bone pile
-
Hope so too, Bone Pile. I LOVE collard greens. Us Yankees don't get 'em up here.
-
Good to hear from you Rodger !
-
I was planning on bringing venison, but haven't figured out how to keep it all week in the truck. If that doesn't work, I'll bring some yard bird breasts. If you need anything in particular, let me know. Josh
-
Oaky, sounds good Josh
-
Josh dry ice stacked just right will freeze everything in the cooler
-
Matt, I am hoping on getting there on Wed evening. This will be my first Classic. Curious on what type of venison and how you cook it, as in steak, burger, or roast?
-
Stick: It gets thrown in a pot for the boil. A roast would probably be best, if you're trying to decide which to bring.
-
I can bring some small venison roasts, and might have some antelope to.
-
I'll bring some yard bird then. Bub, I looked into the dry ice. Closest place to get it is in Nebraska. I appreciate the suggestion nonetheless. Josh
-
Josh, if you have any runs thru Wichita before hand I am planning on driving over to the Classic on Wed 27th. I would be willing to take any meat of yours with me if it helps in transportation. Looking forward to meeting you in person, have followed a lot of your posts on here. Brian

Yes, yes we did. I'll pitch in for KP duty again this year and bring the Old Bay seasoning, other items as needed.
-
I knew I could count on you, Greg. It's getting near.
-
Hey Matt just let me know what you need or are running short on, and that's what I'll bring. 9 days away
-
Could still use more red potatoes, shrimp (of course) and cob corn.
-
I'll grab some taters as well then. Josh
-
I'll bring some shrimp too.
-
Matt,
I didn't get a chance to pick up the sausage but I'll pick up a couple of big bags of red potatoes to bring and I'll grab some carrots too.
-
What time you guys chowing down? I should be rolling in around 5 on Thursday.
-
Aaron, you'll be just in time. Usually we don't start eating until 6 or 7:00pm
-
Well then I can stop and pick up more shrimp and potatoes if that is what you need more of
-
Aaron, instead of taters could you pick up some cob corn? Even the frozen is okay if you can't find fresh.
-
Sure thing Matt, I'll come find you when I first arrive
-
I'll be at the kitchen, for certain.
-
Matt .... would be helpful if I drop the taters too & sub cob corn?
-
Knoll: No, that's okay. Keep the taters.
-
Matt, I just checked the freezer and I have 6 to 7---1# venison roasts I can bring for the Thurs night boil. How is everything else looking?

That would be great, if you could bring 'em.
-
Will do Matt, you ok on carrots, onions and such?
-
Might be able to use more carrots and onions. If you don't mind.
-
I can pick up some of both
-
Nothing will go to waste. What isn't used can be used Saturday for the pot luck.
-
I picked up a bag of small round potatoes and have some wild turkey breast. Yum yum. :)

We're heading down tonight (Friday) after work. If you haven't contacted me and would still like to bring something continue to post here what you're bringing so that I have a list of "first eaters".
-
Matt, I was thinking some garlic would be good and something I could bring without worrying about it being fresh. Think that would work?
-
That would be just fine, Ryan. See you there!
-
I will have something to throw in Matt.i will also help cook and prep.ill help bust the suds when when we get done
-
Count me in too, Matt. I'll find corn, or some other veggies or peppers or onions or whatever else. As usual I'll help prep and cook too. Heading down tomorrow.
-
Well the forces of the universe have conspired to prevent my attendance to the classic this year. It was a typical Occam's razor situation. What can go wrong, will go wrong. I won't even get into details, it will just further bum me out. I apologize to everyone I had made plans with including those looking forward to the perch I was going to fry up and any of the little ones looking forward to free face painting. I'm gonna go for a little walk in the woods to clear my head and hopefully some disappointment as well. I suppose there's always next year right?
-
Hey guys I'm on my way down now (Thursday ) do we need anything else for the boil tonight? more vegetables? Shrimp or bread?
-
I sit here looking at this empty computer screen, knowing there are a mess of good folks down in Tennessee that have loosened their belts and are sitting around telling stories, digesting that wonderful meal.
I had leftover tuna casserole.

So,, I guess I can delete this thread after tonight?

Thanks to all the contributors and especially to the help in the kitchen. It came off without a hitch and I heard from several Greg, that it was the best ever.
-

Yes I would have to agree this one was as good as it gets, Cracker would be proud. :) Thanks again Matt for heading it up and all that contributed and jumped right in to help the clean up after. ;) Like a well oiled machine. ;)
