Pat- I'm going to try and come.  I dislodged a rib and ended up missing the classic.   Hoping the stars will align for me and my boy to come.  Had a great time when we came last time.

Hey Pat, I'd like to come up, too. I found out a few weeks ago that my new place is only 5 minutes from Don Bruton. We talked about coming up to see you sometime.

As a side note, Don is giving a flintlock demonstration at the Hagood Mill in Pickens on 5/21.

Hi Pat,

Got room for the Casita and me?  I was thinking you would be having this during the gdaughter's bday weekend but WOW decided tonight to check this out and was suprised to find it on the 29th!  I have a hickory bow I would love to tiller and would like to try to put together a cane arrow or two doing that Cherokee two fletch style.  Can an old dog learn new tricks?

May the road rise to meet ya,
Rand

Let's figure out a headcount for this thing. I'm planning on doing a low country boil Saturday night, maybe we can split up some of the ingredients between us. I'm headed down to Mechslasher's this weekend, so we'll conspire some on it. I'll also bring my big Blackstone griddle for breakfast and such.

Steve, I was going to get in touch with you about food. I have a Boston Butt in the freezer I can get out and cook here in the oven, also if needed. If not just let me know what I can contribute.
It won't be long now! Time for me to start cleaning up the area, mow the grass and put up the tarps.

Use the window of your truck or car. The rounded edge on tje top of it is rough enoung to hone an edge on a blade just like a wet stone. Works great.

Yep, I watched that one on UTub and like it.  Good advice.  But, I guess what I am after is something small I can tote around in the woods in my pack.  Pat, looked your system up on Amazon...looks good.  Up for some leather working advice too?

Ha!,

Looking forward to the Camporama,

Friday, Saturday and Sunday daily temps look like mid 80s to mid 60s with 30% chance of afternoon showers...which we need and will cool the temps considerably...so throw a flannel shirt or sweatshirt in with your other cloths just in case.

Looper, I'll be around all day Friday. Folks should start showing up early afternoon but come when you can. Camping sites are first come, first served.
Hillbilly is planning a low country boil with shrimp, sausage, corm, potatoes, onions and other stuff. Anything that goes with this will work. We have to eat Friday evening and Saturday and Sunday morning too.
I'm heading down to the barn to hang the tarps today. Have to work this afternoon but its gonna be too hot to do otherwise.

Those temps sound glorious. Should hit 100 today here. I wish you guys a good weekend. I sure need to come over but I am stuck here a while longer. Aging parents you know. Glad to have them but it can be restrictive. I really need to finish the Sassafras Bow. It will probably be there next year. Maybe then. Happy birthday!

Pat, we're not going to be able to make this one, unfortunately. Tina's mom had a massive stroke and is in Duke hospital under "comfort care" at the moment. It's going to be impossible for us to do it. I hate it, as I have been looking forward to it. I think this will be the first one in the history of the Camp-0-rama that we've missed, but some things just take precedence.

Patty's camp-o-rama 2016 is over! We had a small crowd this year; about 8 to 10 folks showed up. One guy, Patrick(don't remember his PA handle) built a bow from scratch to low brace from I think the last Tom B stave I had(locust). Patrick worked his butt off all day Saturday removing bark and sapwood and chasing a ring, laying out and shaping the bow and tillering it out. He has a little heat correcting he still needs to do at home but he should have a nice bow when done.
Patrick Brennan(Lil Pat) came by Saturday and he and Eric Ward did a little knapping. Other than that we all had fun, like always.
The food was pretty good but not as good as if Tina(Mrs. Hillbilly) and Steve(Hillbilly)were here(Tina's Mom passed on Friday night or early Saturday). We are so sorry for Tina's loss!
Randy Rowe was our musical entertainment with the Native American flutes he makes. What a beautiful sound on a clear night.
A few folks that we were expecting didn't show up but I will see most of them next weekend at the Scheile Museum Knappin in Gastonia NC.
There was only one glitch...no pics! I forgot my camera so unless someone took pics with their phones there were none. Sorry guys. I know how everyone likes pics.  :(

Hi Pat,

I just wanted to let you know I made it home alive and well.  I had a great time and sure did appreciate all the help with the hickory bow and advice on the pouch.  Was fun getting up with Randy and Eric and his youngun and you and everyone else.  I had a great time!  Hope you get your camper soon and get out there on the road...especially with gas at these prices!

For those who missed this event you really need to make it if it is offered again 'cause these kinds of get togethers are are really special!

Pat, in these days and times it is rare to have someone invite a crowd to stay for a long weekend and be so welcoming as you always are ...awesome.

Safe travels,

Rand
