I am so glad to be back on this page. After a year of just knapping the urge has hit me and this is my first bow of 2016. #22 self bow.
A R&D that was started back in 2014 and shelfed. The bow is a bois de arc, with string on its 58" ntn. The string is flimish twist FF. The snake skins are diamonds that I received from Cipriano that are beautiful skins. The tips are stained black walnut and the transfer area is red silk thread, 6 coats of polly. This is my first form fitted handle, black leather over cork, and it came out good I think. The bow pulls 35# at 26" and has a sweet release. The bending and getting the string to fall in the right place took quite a bit for me since it is my first R&D. All in all it came out way above my expectations. hope you all enjoy the pics as much as I have enjoyed building it. Also a thanks to all who inspire with their great work here on this forum.

Knapper, is that an underlay on the tips there or is that tip entirely a spliced in different wood? Or maybe I'm just seeing it funny?
-
Thanks Wizard, Danzn bar, sorry I didn't have more time to hang out this past classic, maybe next year. Steve and red thanks as well, urufu, its a solid piece all the way. Just stained on the end for aesthetics.

A little late, but I was looking at the bows up for May BOM and saw this beauty. Well done!! Just out of curiosity, how did you attach the walnut to the osage?
-
That's one MAGNIFICENT bow! I wish I could take much more credit than the skins for such a creation. Hard to believe it's just your number 20 ;)
