I know you will buddy!

I will start another Elm bow thread so I have a better idea of how many bows we have to raffle. I've made the raffle tickets already and I made a sign explaining the origin and purpose of the bows. Should make for a great fund raiser for PRRC.

I know I'll be buying a couple of raffle tickets. Still not sure I'll be there all weekend, but I sure hope so.

Can those who are not in attendance buy raffle tickets also?
Title: Re: Elm Hall Shoot
Post by: PEARL DRUMS on June 06, 2016, 03:27:36 pm
I suppose you could, but if you won you would also have to pay for some PVC and postage. That's the biggest hang up, you basically need to be present to win. I didn't that to happen, but we would lose our butts if we had to ship them out.
Title: Re: Elm Hall Shoot
Post by: Aaron H on June 06, 2016, 03:36:06 pm
Sure, I get that.  I was assuming the winner would pay postage

I'll be there Thursday, good Lord willing and the creek don't rise.  Really enjoy this shoot.  Pine River boys know how to put on a great shoot.  The guys that are
camping where we do have a lot to do with it also.  Looking forward to the picking around the fire at night.

some OT by then.  I don't like it but, may have to do it.

Pearlie, I'm under two years till retirement.  Looking forward to it for sure.  We've got our Traditional Nationals this weekend at Cloverdale.  Then the IBO next month at Pappy's then up north to Elm Hall.  Like them all just some better than others.

Rylie and I were talking about paying surprise visit.
But today got notes from my kids that they are all flying/driving in from around the country to visit and celebrate the old man's birthday .... which happens to occur during Elm Hall.
Soooooo, we'll try for next year!

Eddie, if it's cheaper to fly to Indianapolis do that and I'll get you from the airport and head north.  Just an option.  You'll have a great time.  I'll call you tomorrow while I'm at the shoot.  Camp grounds are filling up.  Hope we have a good turn out.  Gonna be hot here. Got home about and hour ago and the wife said weatherman predicting 95 degrees Saturday.  This fat guy don't like that.

Eddie that would be too cool if you could make it. You would feel right at home in the high heat, humidity and monster skeeters. Plus, half of PA is there :)

I don't think I'll be able to make it to shoot. I think that's gonna be fair week and have son and granddaughter's 4-H animals there. It is also right about time our wheat harvest happens, but if I can get a chance I'd love to come early meet Pappy and crew maybe help set some stuff up. Pearl if I bought tickets for raffle and won a bow could you hold it for me than Marshall 2017? Or maybe I'd meet up with you before that. I could probably take a road trip this winter and meet you.

I can do that BJ. No problem. Cant promise I wont shoot it between then and Marshall 2017 :)

Post by: PEARL DRUMS on June 15, 2016, 04:20:51 pm
Skeeters have been very easy on us so far, knock on wood. I'm thinking (hoping) it may be dry enough we can run one of the 3D courses down by the creek like we had 3 or 4 years ago. That caribou on the gravel bar was a fun shot and the kids fetching arrows made a few bucks.

Sounds just like mojam there Pearl,  heat,  humidity and skeeters! The only difference is that you said it was to hot to come to mojam.  >:D

You got that right Pappy. If you don't like this Michigan weather just wait 5 min. It's allways changing. Last Saturday was 98 then the wind switch out of north east and it was in the 40's and you had to find your jacket. Like Pearl said so far not many skeeters so far, but that can change like the weather.
Title: Re: Elm Hall Shoot
Post by: PEARL DRUMS on June 16, 2016, 09:37:32 am
Generally speaking the mornings can be comfy no matter how warm it gets after sun up. There is a self bow building tent we will set up. So bring a project and tool bag BJ. I want to get some lights in it this year so we can do a bit of after dark work when its cool. I'm worthless when its too hot, you probably seen that in Marshall. I didn't make a gallon bucket of shavings in 4 days.

J-Syn I have more hobbies than I can handle already man! The first 11,000 came quick. It wont be so quick for the next batch. I don't type nearly as much as I once did. Much more reading nowadays, some chuckling, a few eye rolls and I'm good for the day :)

A free oil change would be great! Hemi's take nearly 7 quarts and I use Valvoline.

I grew weary of hose bags following me around just to get a chance to correct me, disagree with me or try to make a fool of me. I don't build bows to argue with people about how I go about it and what works for me. So I mostly use the site just to communicate with people that don't want to make me look a fool. People like you guys :) I leave the teaching to the brainy types with vast amounts of experience.

Dang Pearl.  :o wrong side of the bed or did I hear a twinge of sarcasm in that last post. ;) :) Anyway I seen where they are already getting ready, new roof on the club house and lots of trimming and fixing up going on. :) Can't wait to get up there and see the place and all the guys. :) Hope for good weather and low skeeter count but it really don't matter , it will be a good time no matter what. :)

Yes sir. Lots of work going on according to Brian. I've been talking a lot via email with him, but haven't been out to the club. Been too busy at home. If we can keep most of the rain away and the temps under 85, Id be tickled pink.

Well guys, it really pains my heart that I wasn't able to make it this year, too much going on with starting up my new business, but next year I should be in good shape.

I'm sure you all had a good time, and I look forward to seeing you all in the spring at  The Tennessee classic .

As always, a great time! Nice to see all of you and nice to meet some new folks too. Now to transition back into "real life." I'd much rather just wander around in the woods shooting and BS'ing.

I'm about to throw up a few pictures of the bow I finished in the other thread. Didn't really get any pictures from the rest of my time there, except one. Warning: Vulgar display of fiberglass. (https://www.instagram.com/p/BI06zRaj2-t/?taken-by=naked.feet) Took that one around the course for my last run around because I wasn't happy with how I was shooting the lightweight selfie earlier in the day. Anyone who took that shot should remember about all 55 yards of it.

Shot the course twice with Nat and family and he shot that bow every time.  That's a cool little bow Pauly great job.  Thanks for the pics Paul

Looks like a great place to spend a weekend.  I wish I could make it one of these years.  I see Pearly's legs still haven't seen the sun.

Bill, glad you talked the wife into going with you.  And don't worry about going on a diet.  With the way you can cook I'm surprised you don't way 500 lbs.

Another great shoot come and gone. Like Pauly said, it takes forever to get here and is over in a flash. Great time and great people.

Bill and his bride about blew me away. I looked up and seen him and it didn't register that he was not "supposed" to be there! Start calling him Magic  Man instead of Danzn Bar.

I have a few pics to process and post tonite when I get home.

Thanks to the crew at Pine River.  A great weekend for sure.  Good to see old friends and make new ones as Pappy and Pearlie said.  The picking in camp that Beau, Mike and Jimmy did was better than any concert you'd pay to see in my opinion.  Just a great time.  Shot a bunch for sure.

Thanx to all at Elm Hall for a great event. Everything was top shelf. Thanx to Pearlie, Paul and Ryan. You guys are too much fun. Finally met Pappy, great guy. Shot the course with PNewton and Nakedfeet. Camped next to and hung out with bowmo and griz. Greg and Mrs. Badly Bent and big Nate, coolest kid ever. Dancin Bar and his lovely wife showed up. Gotta say these are some of the best folks i've ever had the pleasure of meeting.

Another perfect gathering at Elm Hall. Thanks to all the good people that put in the work to make the weekend so nice, you folks do a great job. The friday night brat feed and saturday dinner were both delicious and a fine way to get old and new friends together. Perfect job on the layout of the 3D courses as well, we shot them often over the weekend and enjoyed every round.
My grandson Nathan got his moneys worth as usual shooting more arrows than I can count, all with his new snakey osage bow that Paul presented to him when we arrived. He's really proud of that bow and I overheard him say to a couple people that 'Paul makes nice bows' as he was showing it off to them. He also was gifted a nice hog target from Ryan and couldn't wait to get it home so he could shoot at it with his dad. And to top it off Pappy gave him a handful of raffle tickets, most of which were drawn and he was thrilled to win a few t-shirts from those.
Not to be out done Sharon entered the raffle for the Pearly made ladies bow and won it. I Think she was every bit as excited as the kid to get that bow and you can't blame her as Chris turned out a beauty of a ladies bow for the raffle table.
Wish I had some pictures of the fun but sadly don't. May be able to move a few from the wife's phone to my camera to post
later if I can figure out how to do that. Anyway its to bad we can't do this more often, always fun times hanging with my friends.

This is Sharon, Greg's wife.  I had a great time at the shoot this year and was lucky enough to win the bow made by Pearl Drums, which just happened to fit my specs perfectly. We were pleasantly surprised by a visit from Danzin Bar and his wife, Kim, it was wonderful to meet her at last. Just wanted to share a few photos of the event with you.  I look forward to next year.
