Thanks so much to all who attended; Bill, Greg and his son, Tracy and his son, and David. I really appreciate you guys taking the time to drive to my house for some bow work. Despite the heat and humidity we had a great time. We did some shooting, some bow and arrow work, ate some good food, drank lots and lots of water, and tried out the forge until Greg ruined my blow dryer. I was hoping more people could attend but this is a busy time of the year. We decided to move next years gathering to early December. It will be cooler and hopefully not as busy for everyone. I was glad Tracy and Greg's sons came with them. They are some fine young men. You can tell they have been raised right.
I took a few pictures of the fun. Hopefully Greg can post some more.

Every time I see Greg he brings me some sort of dead critters. This time it was a couple of great looking snakes.

Bill brought me a dozen arrows for a trade. I've admired Bill's arrows for a few years now and I decided I needed a set. He does amazing work.

Thanks Clint! Nate and I had a great time hanging out with everyone. We tried to come up with a name all the way home with no luck.
Tracy
-
December huh... maybe an Illinois plate would be welcomed >:D
-
Illinois plates are always welcome Paul.
Glad you were able to make it Tracy. Next time Nate needs to bring a bow to shoot. Good luck with the car repairs tomorrow.
-
How about Buckeye plates >:D
-
Generally I'd say no Guy. But in your case I'll gladly make an exception. I'll make sure you guys know about it next year.
-
You have a real pretty place there Clintster, looks like lots of fun and work got accomplished even with that heat. Beautiful arrows I can't hardly wait to get mine now. Aren't there any steel drums on your place😜
-
Aren't there any steel drums on your place😜
Wish you'd quit reminding him of that......... ;)
DBar
-
No steel drums on our place. And even if there were, Bills arrows will never be shot at one.

Ol Bill, but i don't think Clint will forget, just look for that one crappy arrow in his quiver😂
-
I always carry a drum arrow at shoots.
-
OH Well...................
But, these types of gatherings really pumps me up and gets the bow and arrow jucies flowing. I'd been in a little dry spell as far as bow building, but today got me going again big time......
I started working on a buckthorn stave Greg aka Badly Bent, gifted me about two or three Classic's ago. First time I've worked this wood. It really gets my interests. Very hard wood, light in the hand and nice to work. Knots don't seam to effect the woods ability to bend. And the salmon colored wood really stands out on the floor of an Osage shop. :). Can't wait to work on it some more.
Again.... Thanks Clint for having us out and getting my "want to" back.....

Looks like a lot of FUN Guys - Thanks for posting ! Bob

Zach soaking it all in. He had a great time. He was quick to show his brother and mom the knife blank Clint gifted him. He kept mentioning lasagna that Clint's wife provided as well.

And finally, a group pic of the gang. What a crew! Thanks again Clint. Really enjoyed it. You and your family are top notch.
-
Clint may have received a bit too much sun . . . . . . ;)
-
Sounds and looks like a great time. Thanks for sharing.
-
That's one of those school archery team bows. I had to try it out. I think I'll stick with selfbows.
Thanks for posting those pictures Greg. I'm glad you guys were able to make it. And thanks for the skillet. I bet I could fry an egg in it today without putting it on a stove. It's hotter today than it was yesterday.
-
Due to the heat I didn't set up much of a bow range. I put a row of targets in the back yard and we would line up to shoot them. Me and Bill shot at the same time and our arrows collided in mid air. One deflected down and one flew over the target like a wounded duck. It was pretty cool. I wish we had video of it.
-
how about a Michigan plate parkin at your place in Dec. ?
That would be fine with me. It will be December of 2017. You should ride to Moontree with me in the spring.
-
planning on it
-
That must've been alot of fun! 😊
-
Looks like a good time to me. I love small gatherings with good friends.
-
Looks like a great time Clint, I know with that bunch yall had a blast. ;) :)

Hmmm, December? Might find another Michigander who might just happen to be in the area.
-
Or two....
-
Sounds good. I'm going to need a bigger parking area ;D
-
That's my problem with the camp-o-rama, Clint. Limited parking.
-
Clint, if your dad was ok with it, the new workshop area might be a good spot. I'm thinking we need to get one of us to bring a fresh deer for camp meat.
Tracy
-
I'm sure he would be OK with that. It should be finished by then. We might have to put up some extra lights and figure out some more work areas. I like the deer idea.
-
Sounds good. I'm going to need a bigger parking area ;D
Don't worry, we'll all bring our chainsaws and clear some osage thats in the way of your new parking lot O:)
-
That's OK Pauly. I'll find room for all the vehicles.
-
Tracy, I wonder if we could do a pit fire deer? That late in the year I'd probably have to borrow a muzzle loader to get one.
-
Now thats a fine group of characters in those pics, good times were sure to be had there. Like the others said those kind of gatherings are always fun, bow crafting, story telling, good natured ribbing, food and drink and a good host. Good to see that going on, thanks for posting.

Like a pig? I'm sure one of us could harvest a nice doe or skipper to experiment with. I like that idea!
Ozzy and I could help get things ready before since we are close.

I've pit roasted goats and it is magnificent, a deer sgould be exceptional as well
-
Goat roast at outlaws !
Reminds me of the good ol days we would bye a goat and turn him loose on the back forty just so we had something to hunt for our gathering.
Just be prepared in case he wonders off the back forty cause you will get a butt chewing big time
"But sir I had no idea a goat would chew thru that rope we had him tied up with! "
Best not listen to my yarns could lead to troubles
-
I've had enough of goats to last me a while Guy. I'd rather use a deer.
I talked to my Dad about next years gathering. If there is a bigger crowd or it's to cold we can use his big garage. It's the one we shot off of the deck on the first gathering. We can run a large electric heater and there will be plenty of room. I can set up targets around the yard and field.
David Hewitt, the friend of mine who stopped over for a while writes an outdoor article for the local paper. This week he wrote about our little gathering. I'll try to post it tomorrow. It's pretty good.
-
Sounds great!!! Clint .............Just remember when the time comes I'll help out with the cooking or anything else that is needed.
You've got a great place for a gathering like that. Your Dad is a fine fella too and I enjoy talking to him every time I see him.
Thanks

real nice article

Good right up
thanks for sharing it

Just noticed this post, man that looks like a great time and David wrote a really nice article. I'm thinking this could get big Osage, maybe bigger than you want. Like said before these small group gatherings are really great. I've been thinking of doing something small for starters maybe just the pa guys in the thumb. Of course everyone would be welcome. Great gathering Osage, thanks for sharing post and fun, it was almost like being there.
-
Clint all I can say is my employer screwed me out of being there. looks like a lot of good times good fun and good eats. I really enjoyed David's Artical he wrote too. Can't wait for 12/17. It sounds like it's already shaping up to be a good one.

Great article Clint, very well written and so so right. :)
