Title: gravel clovis
Post by: 1442 on December 30, 2016, 03:39:23 am
This thing gave me fits fluting it
The second side flute went abou 3/8" and I wound up flaking that whole side off to try again.
Started out as a piece of gravel that I skint and cooked the biface.

Looks good!  I have lost inches after several times trying to reset and flute. Some rock just refuses to go long.

Thanks, I gotta put the blame on the fluter. The rock was just killer and flaked really good.
I have a few process pics I'll post later when I have more time

that flute failed so I reflaked the whole side, reset the nipple and drew the outline where I predicted the flute to go.
It followed the lines pretty good which wasn't much but this thing is super thin at this point and I feel lucky to get this much flute on it.

That's one of my favorite pieces of gravel I ever worked.
