Enough people were interested in this idea so we will go ahead and try it. This is a supplies only trade. No finished products. It can be staves, skins, feathers, leather, sinew, etc. Please make a post here and send me a PM with your shipping information if you would like to join the trade. I will leave the sign up list open for 1 week. It will close Sunday, January 8th. Since we are shipping supplies and not finished goods it shouldn't take that long to complete this trade. Let's set the shipping deadline at January 31st. That will give you over 3 weeks to pick out an item or items and get them shipped out. Please remember that some countries have restrictions on what can be shipped through the mail.
When you make a post saying you are in you could list your interests like bow making, flint knapping, arrow making, knife making, etc. so your person can get an idea of what type of supplies you might be able to use. Please do not post a wish list or ask for certain items. I would like everyone to be surprised by what they receive. Once the participant list is official I will have my daughter randomly pick names. I will send each of you a PM with your person and their information. Stringman will be helping me run the trade. Please let us know if you have any questions.
I will make duplicate post in the campfire page to make sure everyone sees it.
Warning!!! If you are a deadbeat who plans on entering this trade to get an item and don't plan on sending something in return I have a warning for you..... I have a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. >:(
Everyone else, have fun and enjoy the trade :)
-
Clint I'm in
Anything but knapping. CANT DO IT. Lol
-
I'm in too. Can't knap or get good bow wood here.
-
Is this being divided by region at all. I just would want to send out stuff to someone who lives in an area that they can get what I'm sending them. I think this was brought up before. Although I think most people would be happy either way.
-
I'm in, and just about anything but bow wood or obsidian will work. I knap, build bows, tool leather, turn on a lathe, make knives, make arrows, and play with fire.

I think it would be to much trouble to try to divide up by region. If you have a problem with the name you get send me a PM and we will try to work something out.
-
I'm in too. I like anything pretty much. Surprises are excellent
I been working on arrows finally and am just now getting close to a finished set.
Hoping to get a chance soon to make a drum to thump on while sitting near a handmade fire.
-
I'm in. I love to make bows. I particularly enjoy trying out lesser known/used woods but would be happy with anything related to bow making. ;)
-

Count me in fellas. I missed the Christmas trade, just had too much happening at the time. This sounds like a good one.
Bow and arrow making, occasional attempts at knapping, wood turning on the lathe, and really open to anything!
Tattoo Dave
-
I'm in for sure. Raw materials that come from farther than an hours drive, I value highly.
I do it all, bows, knappin, arrows, cold forging, wood carving/ burning, fly tying, leather crafts and am always willing to try a new craft. I'll be a jack of all trades over a master of just one any day.
My home turf is the south side of lake Erie, if that helps my "giver" decide on what to send. I'm sure I'll find a good use for what ever I receive.
-
Thanks for joining guys. I updated the participant list on page 1 of this thread.
-
I'm in to Osage. I was out yesterday doing some collecting I was a beautiful 1-1-17 here's a little hint of some of my supplies

Thanks for joining guys. We are up to 13 participants so far. The list has been updated.

Would someone mind listing some of the most sought-after arrow woods? I know I must be sitting on a ton, but I have yet to get into arrow making. If my person is into it, I only want to send the best of the best. Thanks!
-
Count me in. I am needing some feathers, arrow shafts, etc. bow wood, knapping stuff, most anything
Hawkdancer
-
Thanks Hawkdancer. You are on the list now.
Upstatenybowyer, I'm not to good on arrow shaft ID's. I know a few like river, switch, and hill cane, red osier, wild rose, and viburnum. There is another one that I can't remember the name. I'll thank of it later. Maybe somebody else can help.

Thanks OO. I think I've got enough knowledge to go out there and get started. Going back to work (school teacher) tomorrow :( so I probably won't get out much until the weekend.
-
Thanks for joining PNewton. We are up to 15 so far.
-
Is it okay if I send someone something, but don't get a trade in return? I don't want someone to get stuck with the shipping cost to Taiwan. From here is cheap, so that isn't a problem.
-
I'm in :)
I do the obvious (bow making arrow making) also do some blacksmithing and knife making I've dabbled in a little leather working but not much.
I'd be happy with pretty much anything except rock lol I can't knap to save my life.
-
Limbit, I sent you a PM.
Dylanholderman, Please send me a PM with your shipping information. Thanks for joining.
-
Clint, I'm in, I do most of the primitive skills, not set up for blacksmith stuff, mostly knapping, bow building, arrows, braintanning, primitive fire. You know the ole saying Jack of all trades and master at none or is that some? :( ;D ;D Bob
-
Thanks for joining Bob. That makes 17 people so far.
-
I'm in I have Hickory, red oak, sasafras and witch hazel in my woods so if anyone wants staves I will be cutting some soon.

You have to wait until tomorrow.
-
Remind me how long we have from when we get our name until when we send out the goods?
-
The ship date is January 31st. Since its raw goods it shouldn't take long to get something sent out.
-
I found a nice skin in my freezer. Fleshed it out and got it stretched and dried to go in my victims goody box
-
Don't forget me
-
You're in Chuck
-
Thanks Chuck. Please send me a PM with your shipping info.
We are up to 23 participants. I will leave the sign ups open until this evening. I'll make a post when I'm ready to close it and start drawing names. When I send out your persons info if you have any questions that you want to ask them let me or Stringman know and we will send them a PM. I'd like to keep who has who a secret until the packages start showing up.
-
One more thing. When you receive your trade items you have to post pictures on here.
-
Outlaw, I don't think you ever mentioned your interests.
-
When you get your victims name please take some time and research what are his likes and interests. Some have conveniently posted them here, but if not you can search their name and go back and read previous posts to see what they've done in the past. Enjoy, names should be out soon!
-
Outlaw, I don't think you ever mentioned your interests.
I'm into about everything except knapping. Bow making is my favorite.
-
Are you guys ready for some names? I'll go ahead and close the sign ups. I'll send out PM's with the information when I'm done drawing names.
-
My daughter drew names out of a hat as I went down the list of participants. I'll start sending out the info.

-
Got my victim! ;)

Bjrogg
-
I got most of the PM's sent out. I just learned that you can only send 20 Pm's in an hour. I just got an error message saying that. You last 4 guys will have to wait a little while longer.
-
OK, everybody should have a PM with their name and shipping information. Please let me know if you did not get a PM. Please make sure to post pictures of the items you receive. If you have questions about what your person could use please send a PM to me or Stringman. We can ask your guy for you. Have fun guys.
-
Got my victim. Now I hope I can give him something he doesn't have already...
-
Just FYI, I like building bows, arrows and hack my way to a useable stone point sometimes. It's nice getting local woods and materials from places where I don't live.
-
I got some stuff picked out today. I'm hoping to ship later this week.
-
Hehe crazy I went gathering and gathered just what I need just didn't know yet 8)

I'm having same delima Pearl. I've got a plan now and I think I'm going more quality than quantity on some stuff cause I'm sure he's got lots around. Some of my stuff might take me a week or a couple days yet to get dry for shipping.

Glad you like the stuff Bryce. Look that stave over closely. I thought there was only one bow in it. There are some wind checks on the belly. Those water snake skins look best on white wood. I guess you could paint the back of the osage off white if you wanted to use them on it. I've never tried that. Have fun with it. I'll be looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
-
Got you marked as shipped Tree Hugger. Thanks.
-
Sweet package Bubby. Never thought of using cork for handles. And that skin looks way cool ;)
-
Great stuff so far! I got my stuff all sorted out. Will be boxing and shipping this week.
Tattoo Dave.
-
Clint, is it to late to get in this? I havn't been on here in awhile and missed this. I don't have a whole lot of stuff but I have some right wing full length feathers natural from wild birds. I have a small rattler skin. some bamboo shafts I bought these, they came from china and are 55 spine, full length.
-
Arrowbuster - this trade has already been assigned. You will have to wait for the next go around.
-
thanks stringman,
-
Heck Yeah!! Congrats Bubby-Gonna be lots more sweet stuff flyin around in this one!

Oh trust me I looked it over pretty good! We don't get a lot of Osage here on the west coast so we splice every sliver we can get.
The skins are great, and I usually color the back of a bow before skinning to bring out the color.
I'll definitely give you a shout when it makes it to bow form been swamped with physical therapy and dealing with all this snow!
Anyways thanks again! 😁😁😁

Spoiled, rotten brat is all you are. I told him he was sending way too much and you didn't deserve it. That just seemed to fuel his fire and he added more.
-
Apparently I have an addition to my box I already recieved on the way..... the people on this site are some of the best😆
-
I got my package from Hawkdancer. I'm sure I can find good use for it. There is nice colorful wood for tips and such. I was not sure what the cherry piece was for but pealed enough bark off for a handle wrap.
Thanks
Chuck
-
Did I miss a pic of a super stave posted by Bryce?? Anywasy, congrats sir!

Half of the participants have shipped already! Should be some packages being delivered next week. Please remember to post some pictures of what you receive.
-
Nice log Chuck, you lucky devil. Hehehehe
-
Today I received a long box from USPS from Upstatenybowyer, in it was primo Osage stave that came from a log Jeff found that had been cut long ago. He posted it a few weeks back that you can go back and look at. Also there was some Cherry and Birch bark backing strips. I have never tried bark backing but I see it in the future. Another unique item, to me anyway is some Elephant hide origami paper backing strips that I will give a go as well. That's not all, also was a big chunk of abalone shell that is beautiful when held in the light. I have a yew stave that is going to look awesome with that inlayed arrowpass of abalone. Thank you for the stave Jeff, I will study it hard and let it sit for a few months inside before taking any action but there is a heck of a bow in there. Thanks again my friend for everything Bob W.(http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv24/licenseddadad/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-01/IMG_20170121_135846_zpsagewhfpr.jpg) (http://s666.photobucket.com/user/licenseddadad/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-01/IMG_20170121_135846_zpsagewhfpr.jpg.html)(http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv24/licenseddadad/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-01/IMG_20170121_140043_zpsea4gvvpx.jpg) (http://s666.photobucket.com/user/licenseddadad/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-01/IMG_20170121_140043_zpsea4gvvpx.jpg.html)(http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv24/licenseddadad/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-01/IMG_20170121_140052_zpsj9qoth4m.jpg) (http://s666.photobucket.com/user/licenseddadad/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-01/IMG_20170121_140052_zpsj9qoth4m.jpg.html)
-
That's a nice looking stave Bob. Those other supplies will come in handy.
-
Sweet! It arrived! I'm so glad that you're happy with everything Bob. I know you'll put it all to good use. Can't wait to see that abalone inlay. It should look amazing with yew. This trade was such a great idea. Outlaw, you da man 8)
-
Nice stave!!!
-
Nice kit you got there Bob!
-
Remember if u grind or sand that abalone to wear a respirator it is highly carcinogenic
-
Thanks guys, will do Bubby.
-
I got home today and found a package from Bubby. There is some hill crane arrow shafts, turkey feathers, a diamond back snake skin, some antler pieces, flint, and a chunk of Osage. Thanks man, I'm sure I will find use for these things. Again thanks Bubby these are great materials.
-
That's a nice package of goods right there. I'll mark you down as received Redhand.
-
I hope you can make use of it all, you will be amazed at how easy that hill cane straightens
-
I harvested some primo wild rose shafts the other day and zip tied them to some 2" pvc to straighten them while they dry out. I'm hoping to grab some RO dogwood tomorrow (well, later today actually) and I already have some boo and doweled polar, cedar and ash. I'm gonna throw in a couple nice billet sets as well, either crab apple, locust, or some canadian yew I was extremely lucky to find. I should be packed up and ready to ship by the weekend.
-
Bubby I'm sure I will find use for everything I received.
I haven't use hill cane before I'm excite to give it go. Again thank you.
-
Nice supplies redhand.
-
Hill cane is my favorite arrow shaft material. It's very thick walled and durable.
-
You can mark me down as shipped Clint. My package went out priority mail should get there Wednesday or Thursday
Bjrogg
-
Got you down as shipped BJ. Thanks!
-
Well I barely got back from post office sending out my package, when my son text me telling me I got a package. I just had to run home and see. I might need a little help here Dylan. It's a bow stave I'm not sure what type. Almost want to say some type of locust. It's something I haven't tried yet at any rate. It's not real big but looks real nice. Free of knots that I can see. I'm thinking the back of bow will be the reflex side. Also some exotic pieces of wood for tips.
Thanks Dylan if you could tell us what I got that'd be great. I'm looking forward to trying a new wood.
Bjrogg
-
BJ, if I had to guess I'd say that is the straightest piece of honeysuckle bush I've ever seen.
-
Wow, mailman just came and I hit the Motherlode ;D Tattoo Dave went over the top. Here is a list of the goods I received, might need Dave to help on some of these. Some blue feathers, turkey tailfeathers, 4 nice pcs. of flint 2 snowflake obsidian 2 pcs Texas flint. Wood for tip over lays, not sure of kind, also some horn overlay tips. Big ole long hang of primitive cord veg. material. Some B 50, a pc of silk and a nice long strip of River Birch bark, pc deer antler and a nice pc 4 oz leather. I am totally blown away. Thanks Dave
-
Thanks Clint, that's what I was guessing to but I've never really seen them before. I do think I found some of this last fall. Gonna have to look at it again. At a distance I thought it was black locust but when I got close Bark was wrong. If I remember right it was like this.
Bjrogg
Nice score Outback. This will be cool to see what gets made with these supplies. Good supplies Dave
-
I got a bundle from Bob Briggs with some neat starter flint 17 various pieces, 10 arrow shafts and one ready to fletch(viburnum, maybe?) and a bundle of deer leg sinew. Will post a pic as soon as we figure out that process. Had to stop and get some feathers to fletch the arrow, and will try to wrap the fletch with the sinew! I'm going to try the eastern 2 fletch style. Thanks, Bob
Hawkdancer
-
Man gutshot just keeps giving, just got 64" of yeller wood from the mailman!! You outdid yourself Paul
-
Nice bundles of gifts guys! I got you down as received.

DBar
Jealous? What like he ran out of wood😁😄😂
-
Yea.......
That looks like " good wood"
DBar
-
That's a nice straight stave.
And I'm not jealous Bill. I'm happy the Tree Hugger has some more osage to work with :)
-
Bubby glad you got it and hope you can put it to good use. I heard that yellow was hard to get in Cali
-
Gut it sure is and i sure will😉

BJ, if I had to guess I'd say that is the straightest piece of honeysuckle bush I've ever seen.
+1
-
Awesome stuff being sent! I gotta get mine out tomorrow.
Congrats to all
-
Glad you like it Bob. That wood for tip overlays is zebra wood. The feathers are both turkey. The string is grass cordage. It's actually store bought, at one of the big box stores. It makes a great handle wrap. Enjoy!
Tattoo Dave
-
Bjrogg I'm glad everything got there ok :)
The stave is honeysuckle bush I dug around and found one of my best staves of that particular wood I know most people haven't tried it and I wanted to give you a good one ;D ( if you'd like I can pm you about my experience with it what's worked for me and something's to stay away from :))
-
Alright I got my package today from Bob W
here's what I got ;D
(http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w411/dylanholderman/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-01/F9B204F9-7EB9-4432-8C4A-E86677CFFCAC.jpg) (http://s1074.photobucket.com/user/dylanholderman/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-01/F9B204F9-7EB9-4432-8C4A-E86677CFFCAC.jpg.html)
From left to right and top to bottom I have
A flawless hickory stave( a wood I haven't used yet believe it or not)
A half dozen cedar shafts
Some rawhide to cut backing strips out of
Brain tanned buckskin (that my mom made me put in a ziplock ::))
And finally some OSU colored fletchings >:D
Gotta say I just love the smell of that buckskin, I probably would have been happy with just that! It smells so nice ;D tho my mom wasn't as much of a fan >:D O:)
-
Nice haul Dylan.
-
Wow that is a straight hickory stave Dylan, at first I thought it was a board. Some nice stuff changing hands. I love the smell of any hides. I don't really know why but I do.
Dylan if you want to PM me any advice I'd be very appreciative because I have zero experience with honey suckle and that is a beautiful stave. I'm thinking the tip materials are bloodwood, black walnut, antler and ? Maybe red oak? Thanks for the very nicely prepared supplies

That Buckskin smells like a smokehouse lol!
-
I have it on good authority that a box will arrive on ------'s doorstep on or about the 26th. Mark me shipped!
-
My package is on it's way. Should be arriving at it's destination around the 26th.
-
Dylan, that hickory stave looks like a piece of lumber it's so straight and clean. There's a nice bow hiding in there. I marked you down as received. I would like some information in a PM about the honeysuckle. I was moving some staves around yesterday and looked closely at a few pieces I cut last summer.
PNewton and Stringman, I got you both marked down as shipped. Thanks!
-
We have 9 guys left to ship and only 7 days before the deadline. If you are going to be late please let me or Stringman know.
-
Wizard Goat sent me this picture of the package he got from Pearly. He will add the details. I'll mark you down as shipped and received Goat. Thanks.

-
Thanks Clint. Problems with my computer.
Pearly sent me a couple blocks of very nice wood, some nice raw hide, enough for 2
bows I think, some nice silk which I use a lot of, and a takendown sleeve. Haven't made a TD yet, so I guess I'll have to now! Also, some Rush drums sticks haha. Thanks Chris!

This morning before heading to work, I was continuing the break in of the first osage bow I made, a med length sinew backed recurve. She was shooting sweet and she was poised to replace my hazel as my go to. I probably had 300 arrows through her so far and on #301 she just gave out with a sickening ka-pow. The belly essentially separated from the back on the upper limb along a growth ring. I'm pretty sure it went at a small knot that I had glued and wrapped in sinew. I was looking forward to using it in an upcoming shoot. Needless to say I was pretty bummed out at work for the rest of the day. When I got home there were two packages waiting for me. My mood was greatly improved after opening the parcels sent to me by Redhand. There was a box of obsidian(mahogany, banded, and regular), dacite, and some really pretty red stripped stuff I'm guessing is art glass. There were also 7 elk antler buttons/bases. I was really hoping to get some knapping rock seeing as how it's hard to find around here. The second bow was full of phragmites and grease wood for fore shafts. I didn't count but I'd guess there was 3-4 dozen potential arrows in that box, plus some large pieces of elk horn. I'm used to deer so these things looked enormous. I have plans for some of it already.
Thanks a bunch Redhand. That was just what the doctor ordered to help cure my bow mourning blues. I've been lacking on posting pics lately. I'll see if I can't motivate myself to get some up tomorrow.
-
That's a Neil Perty package you got there Wiz.
-
I have shipped and should be there thurs.
-
That sounds like some nice supplies Dakota Kid. Please post some pictures when you can.
Dubes, I go you marked down as shipped. Thanks x2 ;)
-
This trade is really runnin smooth now and the supplies being opened up look great! For those of you who haven't shipped, please get it in the mail quickly or drop us a line to explain. Life gets complicated at times, but communicating with us will solve a lot of headaches.
Hammer down!

The wood pieces should have been labeled, maybe they got lost with the other packing materials.
They are bloodwood, redbud, bone, and the one that looks like red oak is actually honey locust
-
Yeah, that hickory stave is awesome.

[/quote] Dylan, I just noticed the tape labels on them. Thanks a bunch, the only material I've used before was the blood wood and I'm almost out of it.

Scott, you outdid yerself. Thank you!
-
Thanks for posting the pictures Hawkdancer. Looks like some good supplies.
OK guys. It's getting close to the end of the month. Only 5 days left before the shipping deadline. There are 7 people left to ship. Could you please let me or Stringman know if you aren't going to be able to send something out on time.
-
So, Stringman sent me the goods.
Longest rattler skin I've ever seen, I think the other is boa or python and even longer than the rattler, super thin goat hide backing strips, bundle of turkey feathers, beautiful stone blade (not sure what kind of stone-flint?), piece of redwood burl for a handle, pair of long backstraps I think are elk, wolf and sheep silencer strips, fat swab of pitch glue, and a big piece of deer hide I displayed everything on.
Man, I don't know what to say except for thank you Scott, I really appreciate it.
-
Please excuse the attire :-\
-
And I'm shipped. Got my box to the PO today.
-
Nice bunch of sticks and stones you got there hawk!
-
Dakota Kid I'm glad the packages made it to you in one piece. I hope you will be able to use everything. I'm sorry to hear about the bow. Those grease woods makes a really good fore shaft.
Nice material Hawk.
Man DuBois you sure hit the jack pot with all that great materials I can't wait to see what you put together.
-
I got what seemed like a never ending box of goodies today. Stuff just kept falling out ;D it's all awesome! Thanks Dubois! Got some Osage, some cane arrow shafts, heads, trade points, and all kinds of bison parts. Ribs, lower jaw bones, fur, a horn and a bag full of gator gar scales. It's all awesome. Got everything I need to make a new turkey huntin bow! Thanks again!!

Wow guys! Those are some nice looking goods. Congrats Dubes and Dave. That should keep you guys busy for a while.
I'll mark you down as shipped Edward S. Thanks.
-
Man the smiles are rolling in now! Good to see the boxes arriving!
Marco, you were very close on most of it. Red tail boa, Georgetown chert blade, and the sinew is whitetail. Everything else, you nailed it. Enjoy! Now let's see a drum head already! >:D >:D
-
Holy hotcakes! That is one sweet package DuBois. From what I gather you're a good man and deserve every item. :) Enjoy!
-
Dave that's a nice box of goods Marco sent ya. Just wandering what your gonna make with the rib bones.
-
If you do scrimshaw those buffalo ribs will make excellent feathers for a necklace.
-
Wow, great stuff guys.
I use a buffalo rib bone as the bow in my bow drill set, works great.
-
Thanks Clint. Problems with my computer.

I knew you used a ton of silk thread, that spool should last a while. The wood is purple heart and goncola alvas. I knew you hadn't made a take down and I figured it was time you use some of those billets you have around. The sticks were just for fun :) They are used, but only lightly.
-
first I have to say, I'm finishing up a package to be shipped out today.
that being said, I got a box in the mail last night, however my grand kids were over and we were playing and I didn't get to take a pic. so here is what was in the box. WOW! I got a letter from Bjorgg in the box he said he didn't want to send me something I already had. Well he got me some thing I didn't already have. I got a really nice Red Fox pelt, an awesome Mink hide and last but not least a really cool muskrat pelt. I'm wanting to tan these hides as I do not have a plan as to what to make. I'm torn between trying to brain tan them ( i saved some buck brains) or getting a commercial tan (leaning this way) so I don't wast them. either way, these are awesome, Thank you BJorgg.. Ed
-
I'm really glad you like them Ed, I figured you probably had better supplies of everything else I had anyway. I wish the fox was a little darker red but it has really nice fur and still has all it gar hairs on it's side. They start losing them laying on the snow all winter. The mink and muskrat are both really good winter hides to. I think muskrat is some of the most under appreciated fur. We have some really nice winter rats.
Bjrogg
-
Nice looking furs Ed! Make sure and let me know when you ship so I can mark you down.
-
Ed I have a near full bottle of Tannit chemical tan I will send you if you want it. Its enough to do those furs 6x over. I did six skrat hides and used about two caps full is all.
-
Nice Hides!!
-
Feast your eyes fellers! You will look long and hard and may never find a purtier piece o' yew! Not sure I'm even worthy to hold it, and mentally I find myself regretting all the mean and nasty things I've said about it. Still it's mine and I'm a happy man! Thanks Goat!

Very nice Goat.
-
Hey Dave,
Glad you like your stuff buddy, Wish I had a big piece of hide for you instead of little bits but I think they could be handy and I was planning on using the fine leg hide pieces as arrow pass/rest. Dew claw arrow rest? Someone told me they used the jaws for knife handles ...
Hope you find some good use in it all and a great bow in those billets. You like that split on them suckers?
Aaron, I like that bow drill idea.
Stringman,
I'm still floored by the gifts. I am thinking on how to use ribs and hump vertebrae as a drum rim and base tied with sinew or maybe some gut I have drying??
One way or another I will create a drum with that hide!
Too much cool stuff going around to mention it all. You all are an awesome bunch.
-
I have no idea what I'm going to make with ribs, or the jaw bones. I'll come up with something though. This trade has been interesting. Are we thinking this is going to become an annual trade? My vote is a yes! Thanks for heading it up guys!!
Tattoo Dave
-
This trade seems to have been a success. I'd like to do it again next year if there is enough interest.
-
That would be awesome Clint! Probably see a lot more sign up next time by the way this one is going.
So, I'm thinking about doing a 2 piece take down with those Osage billets. Never made a take down, but have always wanted to.

-
Got mine from PNewton todat I got a doz Douglas fir shafts half doz boo shafts a piece of leather for handle wraps some beaver fur 2 railroad spikes & a piece of bubinga & wenge. Thanks Paul everything is great I think I'm going to try & make some hawks out of those railroad spikes.

-
You're welcome Rob, glad you like it. Looking forward to hearing how the hawks turn out.
-
Nice package you put together there Paul.

-
Thanks Bj. First time I have been involved in a trade like this. Was hoping I put together a good enough pakage. Those were some nice looking hides you sen out.
-
I'll definitely be in for next years trade if it happens. Would have done it this year, but was affraid of getting someone from the NW who already has a stockpile of yew, and that's all I have to offer. So I'll start gathering stuff now for next year.
It's been awesome seeing people open there supplies. So really cool stuff.

I received my package from EdwardS today. I got some pitch, string wax, empty brass, a flattened powder horn with the brass plug, some lead, and some cool looking knife scales. Thanks Edward!

I don't know what I've got coming yet, but I'm definitely in for next year. Seeing my victim's reaction when his stuff arrived was reason enough to do it again. These supplies are so awesome for us bow guys. Nobody else understands. That's what's so great about for me... seeing someone else appreciate the things I do. Priceless. :)
-
I'm waiting on mine too-every time the dogs bark I look out the window to see if it's a package.
Glad you like that stuff. That spout will just cover the end of that horn, made sure to match it up. Handle blanks are spalted maple. Saw a pic of your shooting iron and immediately knew what to send.
-
Cool stuff guys! Gettin down to the wire now!
-
Got to watch Clint open his supply trade box today. Pretty exciting! Can't wait to get mine, there's so many cool supplies that every body is getting. Can't wait till next years trade!!!!
-
I'm with you guys. I will definitely do another one of these whenever it is available. And it's like UpstateNY said, it's all about giving this stuff to people who can appreciate it. (although it was one awesome bundle I got!)
Thanks Clint and Scott!!

All right guys. Only two days left to ship and 6 people that need to get something in the mail. Time is almost out and you guys are making me a little nervous (http://rabbittalk.com/images/smilies/icon_mad.gif) I sent everyone left a PM as a reminder. This has been a really good trade so far. I'm hoping for a 100% success rate. Don't let me down ;)
-
Mine ships tomorrow. I'll confirm that things went according to plan tomorrow evening after work, Clint.
I have a (bad?) habit of using all the time alloted and getting right down to the wire. I should meet this deadline though, barring unusual catastrophic events.
-
Thanks Dakota Kid
-
My trip to the PO is tomorrow too. True procrastinators know there is no need doing it today if you can put it off till tomorrow. i had one thing that needed a little dry time.
-
Thanks Chuck. Looks like a lot of supplies will be going out tomorrow
-
Nice looking furs Ed! Make sure and let me know when you ship so I can mark you down.
Shipped out Friday should be there today. Thanks again. Ed

I can also return the unused portion. Ed
-
I want nothing in return, Ed. Use it up my friend. I'm quite sure I have you in my little black book, Ill check when I get home.

My package is headed west. It should arrive no later than Wednesday.

Great! Thanks Dakota Kid. I marked you down as shipped.

-
Thanks for shipping Green River. I marked you off the list. That's a nice looking arrow package.
I think everyone has shipped!!! And a day early for that matter. I'm still waiting on confirmation from one person but he was supposed to ship his stuff out today. Thanks for making this trade a success guys. I really appreciate it and I hope you guys enjoyed it. There should be a lot of packages delivered this week. I'm looking forward to seeing all the pictures posted.

You guys are the reason this trade went so well. If everyone holds up their end of the bargain running a trade is pretty easy. Lets try to do this again next January. Somebody might need to remind me ;D
Thanks for the help Scott. And thanks for pitching in Dubois ;)
-
Looks like a great trade, Clint and Scott. I'll be in it next time.
-
Mark me as received, boss. Mr Ickes sent me a large beaver tail side, two perfect white cow horn tips, a great piece of calf hair for rests (SWEET), and several long strips of beaver hide for silencers.
Thanks buddy!
-
Nice package PD. I've always wanted to try a handle with beaver tail.
-
Got you down as received Pearly.
-
Sounds like a cool gift bag Pearlie, congrats.
-
PD you should have another package coming.

I just got a very nice sapling stave from Swamp Thang. In April when I'm out there next I can hook you up with a crape myrtle, no problem. This thing looks like hickory to me, but I defer to you, you cut it.
-
Okay boss, mark me down as received. When I went to the mailbox after work there was a slip saying a long tube-shaped package was waiting for me at the PO. Here's what I got from greenriverwoodcraft...
A really nice, long (taller than me) and naturally reflexed hickory stave
Some beautiful pieces of horn (cow or goat?)
whitetail antler
chunks of rosewood and ebony! and I was just running out of overlay material... yippee! :D
Thanks so much greenriver! Can't wait to put these treasures to use!
-
Edwards congrats on that stave. Let's see a pic
Upstatenybowyer nice supply package. Really like those black horns. Lots of material there.
-
The mailwoman left 2 boxes on my porch from Dakota Kid of local materials from his area. What a generous gift. A set of black locust billets, canadian yew billets, piece of hazel, wild rose shafts, bamboo shafts, tulip poplar square stock, cedar shafts, fresh water mussel shells, and pieces of wood for overlays. I am excited to broaden my arrow making and bow making with these materials. Thank you very much Mike. I will try to post some pictures this weekend.
Thank you Clint and Scott for putting this trade on.
-
If the weather cooperates I'll post one tomorrow. All I have for a camera is my phone, and all it likes is outside light.
-
PD you should have another package coming.
Got it! Some very aged gorgeous osage billets. Thanks again!
-
Sweet stuff all around. Next trade is gonna be all out madness!!
-
Nice package Upstate!
-
I want to give a huge thanks to Marco and Clint who sent me these bonus packages. Marco sent bison ribs to try out a rib bow. Nice dogwood arrow shafts and some larger plum shoots for barreled shafts. Clint sent 2 beautiful skins. A water snake and the best belly cut of a black racer(did I get that right?) I have seen. Can't wait to use this stuff. I've done trades with these two generous guys before, but I did not expect these random bonus packages.
-
Sweet stuff all around. Next trade is gonna be all out madness!!
That's the problem with these folks, always trying to "out do" the next guy.. well, I guess that's a problem. ??? ::) >:D >:D >:D
You guys have been great to trade with. Now let's see some building!
-
Those are some nice skins. And be watching for a rib bow!
-
We are almost done! There are still 2 guys left to receive. Shouldn't be long now.
-
You got it right Chuck. Black racer belly skin. If I remember correctly the back of that snake went to Matt Wirwicki.
-
It's an Oak actually or so I was told also along with that crepe myrtle i mentioned I am about to chop a few cedar elms I've made a few really good 3/4 bows from them. If you need or want I have a few fresh pieces of crepe I got to practice on
BTW a 3/4 bow is one I take months to build and get antsy and break it in some way during the final steps because I'm excited lol oh and that stave is still fresh only a few weeks old.
I just got a very nice sapling stave from Swamp Thang. In April when I'm out there next I can hook you up with a crape myrtle, no problem. This thing looks like hickory to me, but I defer to you, you cut it.

My package should have arrived at it's destination by now. I expect the receiver just hasn't had a chance to post yet.
-
My package arrived at Swamp Thangs place at 1:19 today. Check your porch
-
Dakota Kid, PNewton post about receiving his supplies from you on previous page. I must say pretty impressive packages everyone

Bjrogg
Indeed he did! Not sure how I missed that the first time around.
I'm glad you were happy with the packages Mr. Newton. Make sure you post any projects you end up making from that stuff. It's always nice to see what someone else can do with the same materials you're used to working. I'm really curious as to what the polished shell will look like. I tried to grab some of the ones that seemed to have good color to them. They all look good with a finished shine, but roughly 1 out of 10 is absolutely amazing. I hope you got at least one of those.
-
Update... the black horn in my package is Buffalo. :D
-
My package arrived at Swamp Thangs place at 1:19 today. Check your porch
Man oh man I got in really late last night I'll post more I'm a really excited! See yall at 5
-
Swamp thing we are waiting on some pics!
-
Hey Chuck,
from what I can find about rib bows, they are not real efficient and a lot of work, so I would understand if you used the bones for some other thing.
If, however, you decide to proceed with one I would send more ribs if needed and some buff sinew to complete the job.
Swampie...where's the pics?
-
Swamp Thang, Could you post some pictures of the supplies that you got from Chuck?
We only have one guy left to receive. There has been a hold up in shipping. Hopefully it shows up soon.
-
Those buffalo ribs would probably make an awesome atlatl. Been brainstorming the things Bob sent and am going to try to finish up the started arrow in a 2 fletch full feather. Got to do it "off handed" so it may not be the greatest, but I am going to try to come close to the crest on my original arrows and wrap the fletch. Nock will be wrapped with the sinew in the pack. It is a royal pita having a case of maivais gauche when you are gauche. Cast might come off 24 Feb, then pt begins -that really means pain & torture, not physical therapy:). Again, real neat materials in the trade and Thanks for all the work putting it on.
Hawkdancer
-
Thanks Marco,
Anyways... Swampie got a 60" rocky mt juniper stave, 4 big elk leg sinews, a bundle of deer backstrap sinew, some bison hide for handles, tanned Mt lion hide piece for string silencers or trim, a section of water buffalo horn, a Alaskan dall sheep horn- the top curl and a piece of local ocher from me last week.
-
That sounds like a nice bundle of supplies Chuck!
-
That does sound like a real nice package. Can't wait t see pics
-
Same here Chuck. Sounds like a really nice package
Bjrogg
-
Oh man Chuck that sounds like some great materials.
-
I might be the last one to get a package but WOW! Bryce hooked me up with
1/2 dozen boo shafts
Damascus knife blank
1/2 dozen 18ga. Hand hammered Trade Points
Lots of Bow handle leather
African Blackwood that's going on the knife for handles!!

All Right! Everyone has received their supplies. Thanks everyone for making this trade 100% successful!

Oh thank GAWD! I was anxious today hoping that it finally made it. I have the sister blank to that knife:) it turned out to be really nice and keeps a really nice edge, same with the trade points. They're all around 200gr. Thought it would look good with that Blackwood which is my favorite dark hardwood. Enjoy those shafts too! And Clint said you needed some grip leather;)
Glad you finally got it! Take care bud!

I can't wait to get started on the knife. Got to to get me some brass pins first though. Did you make the trade points? I've never seen any in person before they are pretty cool. I will get them ready for hunting season and go after those big eastern turkeys this spring. All the leather will be put to use my daughter seen that and already ask for some so I let her pick out a couple of pieces. I've got those shafts put up and marked with your name on them for future use. Thanks again, Paul

I know this a year old, but wanted to share what I did with a portion of my received goods. I just started shooting this last night, so we'll see how it goes. Its from a VERY old set of billets Robbie gave me for this swap. Thought I'd show my use of them. I glued deflex in at the splice.
I fixed the lower fade after this pic was taken. Its not flat anymore.

That's a sweet looking bow Pearly. Glad to see something came out of the trade last year. Is there an interest in doing it again this year?
-
Clint I'll get in it again this year.
PD that's one good looking bow.
-
Love the looks of that bow Pearl. I've been itchin to learn how to splice billets. Perhaps I could pic your brain sometime? :D
I'd love to do the trade again.
