Nothing super special about this one, thought I'd share it anyway. 2 Marshalls ago Pearlie gave me a 1/4 log of osage (thanks buddy).
I got 3 staves from it and this was the nicest one. I used dry heat to fix a kink and match the bottom limb to the top.
Came in at 44# at 27", it's a very nice shooting bow, I love this design for osage.
Not 100% on the skins (broad banded water snakes?)
Handle is hemp, finish is shellac and tung oil.
Pics were taken at one of my favourite parks near my house. An old mine converted into a park.
Cheers!

Very nice looking bow. Those aren't broad banded water snakes. They look more like diamond back water snakes.

A flat bow with snake skins and a hemp wrapped handle...you absolutely nailed my favorite design and style. Another fine weapon wizard.

That wouldn't be Butchart gardens, would it, Ryan? My mother loves that place. Every time we go to the northwest, she wants to visit. It hasbeen over 20 years since I was last there.

loon - I think its time you get building! no better time than now
Pearly - Thanks again for the wood!
Pappy - I agree, Osage is the King, Yew is Queen, anyone married will tell you who really rules the house though ;)
Clint - Thanks for the ID, I remember now the skins came from RyanC
DC- I think the bow is around 60-62"?
Beadman - I shoots great, I think it'll be my 3d bow this year. Perfect target weight for me

Beautiful bow. As has been mentioned those pin nocks are awesome. What material did you use on your tip overlays?
-
Jon, it's just small scraps of rawhide. The quickest and easiest tip overlays ever
-
great looking bow! I never use that style of knocks, how do you like them?
-
"Osage is the King, Yew is Queen, anyone married will tell you who really rules the house though ;)"
;D ;D ;D
-
Green river - I mostly only use pin nocks. For me they are quick and easy, I don't like the looks of too much meat past the string grooves
-
very nice ryan!full draw is perfect, the character even disappears !cool!
-
Never get tired seeing your work, Ryan. That stick is very nice, I love the plain simplicity.
