Title: Draw length help

I'm working on a new bow 66" long red oak aiming for 50# will have 23" of working limb top and bottom any help with a safe draw length would be appreciated. Thanks.

conventional wisdom says that max draw will be equal to 1/2 the total working limb, so 23 inches for you. If you shorten the non-bending grip or any stiff tips, you'll get more. If you make it wide, you'll get more. With excellent tiller and excellent wood you will get more. So, unless you are quite short, you will probably want to shorten the non bending sections- 66 should be plenty long to get to 28 inch draw if you do it right.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking along the same lines of 23". I believe I will work the tips down a touch more and see if I can stretch 28" out of it. I can't adjust the handle section because I built a riser and glued all wood lams to the riser. Trying something new. We'll see how it works out.thanks again.
