Does anyone know where to get those thicker tarps (for waste and debitage) that you see at knap-ins? I've been goin through the thinner ones and would like an upgrade. Thanks

im sure you have thought of this but maybe not, a good military surplus store is a good place to start or if you live near a military base most have a DMRO, i think thats what they call it, where they sell stuff for whatever reason. on the fort here its a sealed bid sale and i got a good thick green tarp along with some other items, tent stakes, etc... for a couple bucks.

Bishop, I actually had not thought of that....duh. ;D; we don't have any near us as far as I know. I'll keep a lookout for one next time I'm out of town. Thanks

Any home improvement store or painting supply store should have painter's tarps. They are made of pretty thick canvas material and should stand up to alot of abuse.

dingleberry, The ones I think you are talking about at the Knap-ins came from a factory somewhere and was a heuge belt that was cut up and sold a few years back. Hav"nt seen any around for some time and you can't pry them away from their owners now. They are a thick cotton fiber about three eighths of an inch thick. I agree the best bet is Army navy surplus. If you find some you will be a hit at your next Knap-In. Dont sell them cheap. Sleddman

The painters drop-cloths (canvas) are what I use. I don't like the waterproof tarps because they trap moisture when you fold 'em up.
